Houston Astros right fielder Kyle Tucker likes to get his hands dirty… Or at least he used to. Ever since he cleaned up his act, the only thing he has been digging is home runs.
I think it could also deal with him having too much time on his hands, or his mind. Something to do in the meantime while the catcher and pitcher get setup and ready. Too much time, start overthinking things. So used the dirt to not only pass the time but as a ritual. Now with the clock there, it doesnt leave him too much time to think. Maybe. Just speculation.
Always loved hitting without gloves…stopped using them for the last 4 years I played the game. Once those callouses form it feels waaaaay better than gloves, feels like you can control the bat better.
batting glovws or none, i still love Kyle Tucker. He's the baseball player I strive to be like. Great fielding, phenomenal hitting, great baserunning and stealing. Thats why hes my favorite player in the mlb
“Phenomenal hitting” idk this .143 average so far isn’t looking to well. He also just straight gave up on that 2nd home run ball yesterday. Dude only jumped like 6 inches
0:34 it’s simple. A little change in your game can be what changes your fortunes. I remember one year I was having a terrible summer ball season and halfway through I decided to go no gloves when batting and I went 3/4 with two doubles and a triple and stuck with it till I stopped playing. My last two years I switch to one glove on my left hand so I didn’t let go of the bat because my hands would get sweaty
Was trying to do it the first half of the season but could only do it after foul balls when the pitch clock is a little longer. After a while he just got tired of it
As a person who never liked using batting gloves it always felt more comfortable to me tbh I would always grab dirt and rub it in my hands every at bat
Great video, Misappointed! The video was informative and had a clear flow from Tucker's origins to current ideas and possible questions about wearing gloves. If I could leave some constructive feedback, it sounds like you're reading from your script, and I think the videos would benefit from injecting more personality by varying your tone and delivery. Edit: I think an example of the tone/pacing with a similar style to your videos can be "FivePointVids."
Idk if anyone else has said this, but if you watch film of guys hitting from before they had batting gloves, they all rubbed dirt between there hands before stepping in the box
great video, Any chance you could grab a decent pop filter for your Mic? The "p" sounds in your narration are really distracting. It might also just be mic position.
King Tuck sunk the Astros this Postseason. When your rbi leader with 112 rbi's on the season and batting average of 286 goes from that to 1 rbi batting 150 in 11 Postseason games it sunk the team. When people wonder why Houston sucks at home, it's because Kyle Tucker went stone cold at the worst possible time.
If he wants a big contract next year he will have to clean up his act, hence no more dirt bathing. Its cool but i guess not a great look for a soon to be major contract player, wherever he ends up. Can't wait to find out.
You sound like these adult children talking shit about capitalism on their iPhone, with their Jordans on, drinking a Starbucks coffee. You're complaining about things that just don't make any sense...
