Update for this case Arsonist who killed 36 people, sentenced to death penalty According to this news, the Kyoto court sentenced the arsonist who killed 36 people to the death penalty, based on the judge's final verdict on him yesterday January 25. This incident happened in July 2019 where he set fire to the Kyoto Animation studio. The death toll reached 36 and 32 sustained injuries. It took a little while for him to be sentenced because it had to be proven if he had a mental problem at the time he committed the incident.

Why does Japan, along with the USA, still use the death penalty? Why can't they abolish it already like Angola, Argentina, Australia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Canada, Chad, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Mexico, Mongolia, Mozambique, New Zealand, Papau New Guinea, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uruguay, and all of Europe (except Belarus & Russia) have? Seriously, they're allies with the majority of European countries (such as Germany or the UK) but refuse to take notes from them?
