I played Xylophone for 4years during Highschool. Man, I'm telling you it is so hard to play that while moving. Its hard to aim the xylophone "bars" as I call it. You know what I mean, you only have one option: hit the bar ONLY exactly in the middle,. You cannot hit on the edge becoz that means also hitting the next bar to it and that'll cause out of tune. So imagine moving, marching, and dancing! How hard that is! Look at that girl, she doesnt even look down on where shes hitting her stick. Muscle memory at its finest. She practiced a lot for sure.
Kyoto Tachibana wins. Hands down best band in the world because no other band in the world can entertain a crowd like they can. I hope you catch the Tachibana fever.
Many Americans have been to Japan in the United States Military. We are aware of your country's really good arts and social activities. Please keep up the great work. Semper Fi from a former US Marine.
Being an old Saxophone player myself and having marched in the Rose Parade 4 times I have to say that these kids were superb. Their dancing was great and they all played in tune like pros. I can't get enough of them. I don't know how they do it. Playing while marching is hard enough, but playing while dancing and learning dance steps plus music is fantastic. This school band is top drawer all the way. Loved it.
When you are told by your government to do something all of your life, you tend to be better at it than people that live in a free country like the united states
I think they’re combining the top 6 HSH bands in Japan for a mega performance. They were doing a teaser with three bands together (like 300 members) for the promotion of HS Baseball Final “Koshien Games” last year. The “Orange Devils” of Tachibana is joined with other all stars.
Unless you've had marching band experience you can have no idea how demanding their program is. Not only have they memorized the music, but they also must remember every step and facial gesture of the choreography. This one is only five minutes long, but I have seen this band do 30 minute performances without a stop. It is truly phenomenal!
A few days after appearing here at Disneyland in 2018, they marched at the Rose Parade and continuously played music and danced for over 2.5 hours non-stop covering 5.5 miles. The band will be back in late December next year to participate at the 2025 Rose Parade.
What still gets me is there sound is so SOLID you can't tell at all that they are moving around, and I just appreciate the time that it took them to get there. The hours that they dedicated to this.
The jumps are timed to the music but yeah this takes incredible breath control and hours upon hours of breathing exercises. I'm just amazed the sax players don't break their reeds while jumping around like that!
@@spiwolf6998 What's more amazing is all the choreography is developed by the band members themselves with seniors training the juniors. Even the music arrangements were chosen by band members themselves. Staff advisors advise only.
I was deployed to Iwakuni MCAS twice first in 1982 and again in 1984. Activities such as this are one of the events I truly enjoyed about Japan. ❤ Please continue the great work folks. Semper Fi from a former US Marine.
Never seen anything like this, dance choreographed all in tandem, playing instruments at the same time, who can do this? Simply the best group I've ever seen do this.. hands down... impressed.
Bro having been on the drum line myself, those ladies are KILLING it. Mad respect to how much practice went into their performance. Makes me wish I went to highschool in Japan just to be part of this
Makes me mad that so many people in the crowd didn't even clap. Those kids were working their butts off and several people just sat there during the clapping moments. Show some love!
6:50 This flute player who wore an athletic supporter on the left leg was playing and dancing putting on a prosthetic leg. Because she was born on one leg. That's amazing and I was so moved!
They are AMAZING... Marching with an Alto Saxophone is one thing, dancing and playing while marching with an Alto Saxophone is another thing, but dancing, marching, and playing a Baritone Saxophone is just out of this world, those things are HUGE. Great sound, great performance.
James Flores, Most people might not realize it but besides Tachibana being great musicians, they are all world class athletes. They are all physically strong, especially for their size. But that’s not what impress me. You gotta have perfect strong lungs to be able to do what they’re doing and their cardio and endurance level is beyond amazing. Even world class athletes like Michael Phelps, Lebron James, Tom Brady, and Lionel Messi would probably go into exhaustion if they have to to what Tachibana do for five and a half mile in the Rose Parade.
Let me just say, marching with my Bari down that exact same road was hell. I rolled my ankle in the tracks during my band's performance and had to go to the doctor the day after. And that was just from normal marching. These girls are dancing and playing at the same time, and didnt hurt themselves even once. Im impressed.
Watch their actual competition level performance. TAchibana comes in and sweeps the crowd from 19:30 minutes in to this video. It’s beyond amazing. And far beyond this casual performance. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yHO4_kQrHEE.html
That’s because this iteration of the band was actually made up of both current members and graduates (as so to give everyone a chance to play in the Rose Parade, since otherwise not everyone who’s ever been part of the band would be able to do so).
@@schebbi There's a Q&A on their website. Yeah they invite Alumni to join for the Rose Parade. Kyoto Tachibana is the most famous Senior High School (SHS) band in Japan, so they get lots of talented Brass musician Junior Schoolers from all over Japan applying to attend the school just to join the band. That and a lot of practise makes them what they are.
The first Young lady on the Saxophone next to the tuba beginning at the 2:39 mark, has the sweetest smile. She really looks like she's having the greatest time, and she loves that the folks are enjoying the performance. She comes closest to the camera during High-Fives at the 5:19 mark! I've seen that smile on her in many performances on RU-vid since. She's a breath of fresh air.
I followed up on your comment and went to find 2.39 and 5.19 marks only to have found It was a slight waste of time because I had noticed her myself and was captivated!
I used to be a dancer and daaammmnn. These kids are GOOD! It's exhausting and takes your breath away to just dance like that, let alone also play a wind instrument!! They've got lungs of steel! They were so awesome I can't stop using exclamation points!
Well they aren't kids, they are teens and anyone who thinks they are kids 0-12 years old are pretty blind. But the person claiming they are much older is wrong also, the women here are in the ranges of 16-18. The person claiming that 45 years old Japanese women look 18 is also wrong. 45 years old Japanese women look like 45 years old Japanese women. As far as their skill? Of course it's skilled to be able to play the instrument while dancing and making sure to keep in time with the other people.
I felt that way. I do not get tired of seeing this video repeatedly. This is amazing. Even in a wonderful movie, I get tired of seeing it two or three times.
Just now found this and omg i cried, like real tears. Its just so profoundly amazing how good they are. I was mad the audience wasn’t louder but then again if i was there, i would also be speechless
