I like vintage headphones.
I also like some modern stuff too.

By the looks of it you got the non mesh version. So did I. BUT. I LOVE MY PR2! They do, however, need more power lol

It seems like the non-mesh version is the only one being produced now. At least the review will stay relevant 😅

@@GREQReviews Ya know....there are people saying that they're receiving non mesh versions but without harsh treble. That seems to be the case with mine since yes there's mucho treblo, but not harsh or overbearing. Maybe they revised it again?
@GREQReviews
@GREQReviews 9 месяцев назад
@@stale_. Could be. Either way, I'm VERY happy I got the non-mesh version. It really gives the treble more 'air' which is missing in so many IEMs, which in turn makes them sound very 'technical'.

Oh yeah. Listening to certain documentaries where people are miced so well that you can literally hear the rest of the room. I love the PR2s stock tuning so far but I know I'll be tweaking the mid bass a tad for the slam I want. @@GREQReviews

@@stale_. eq suggestion.. 32hz- 0, 62,125,250hz-all +2, 500hz -1, 1khz -2, 2khz -2, 4khz 0, 8khz +2, 16khz -4...I tell everyone to get kbear 08 tips they just work, without losing treble definition like the foams do, just smooths the pinna a bit but gives better bass resolution and extension.

actually best IEM under $100.

It's a ea500lm nowdays but PR2 is more than worthy of current price, sometimes as low as 20$

the PR2 is the refined among the trio , the PR1 PRO is the excited more V shape tuned but still relatively balance tuned one , where the PR3 IMHO is simply over engineered and trying too much to tune for able to be delivering on all aspect and end up a bit too disconnected

I recently noticed that switching to foam tips for the HBB PR2 makes a HUGE difference to reducing the piercing treble. I can't recommend using foam tips enough. This is something I will definitely watch out for in future IEM reviews, since tip-rolling is of course so much more common than ear pad rolling.

I absolutely love my pr2's even though they are the 2nd revision, that treble is just right for my hrtf, though I prefer the original tuning for being more neutral (I make music often) I also can hear from about 5 ish hz to about 32khz which is very very odd

Also something I will say, the resolution, detail, soundstage to the side and the imagine on the side is absolutely amazing and absolutely smashes the dioko, pla13, pr1 and it's many versions, and the pr3 handly. Truly the best iem under $100 even after almost a year on the market

Nice review. Like you, I’ve always been lukewarm towards KZ iems. The ones I own are nothing special. However, after watching a number of reviews on the PR2 HBB, I decided to get them a couple months ago. And I must say that these iems have become my reference set replacing (kind of) my S12 Pros which is saying a lot. There’s just something more direct about the PR2. They don’t have the bass of the S12 and are not as airy but to my older ears, the PR2 HBB is clearer and more detailed with the perfect amount of bass. The tuning is fantastic. Yep, I’m actually praising a set of KZ’s. I think I can explain the meaning of the universe better than why I like these iems. 🤷‍♂️

I feed mine with 4.2Vrms and I eq very slightly. I also use a very good aftermarket cable and kbear 08 eartips. I use a hiby dap with AI parametric eq (MSBE) adjusted for warmth and bass extension, etc. This on top of slight eq curve, 2db max.. After all that, the sound is just amazing, it seems stupidly cheap, if you feed it properly.. I have tons of bass and smooth treble with insane extension, mids are open and very natural bringing an intimacy that I am used to getting with $1000 plus sets... You must insert the eartips very deeply to achieve this. And use a hiby or other set with MSBE settings.

I'm happy to hear someone actually say these are comparable with more expensive sets. I (and my wallet) need more reasons to not look for anything higher-end.

@@GREQReviews I have been concntrating on improving my music files, going to dsd128 and 256, with less resolution files I seek the best sounding actual recording, even if its 16/44.1, a lot of steely dan talking heads various groups have great 16 bit masters or even SACD masters.. which look like dsd64 on my player. a lot of the times its down to the master.. Analogue Productions is an example of a company doing great audiophile remasters of classic material, I have a whole set of Doors albums from them.. Its a lot of work, but cheaper and and more satisfying then spending a whole whack of money on new gear. My existing dap and headphone combo is more resolute then most recordings out there, (hiby r3 sabre and pr2's), so to me it makes sense to concentrate on a) Learning to get the best out of my dap as the MSBE settings are nothing short of miraculous but very very finnicky and b) improving the quality of my files !!! Luckily there are such things as torrents! My dap also streams Tidal, which is hit and miss for sound quality but can be very good. Do yourself a favour, put your pr2's in, and listen to the Marta Gomez song 'La Ronda' on Tidal, before thinking of upgrading your headphones. Turn it up...

Slightly tempted to grab these.. i loved the blon 03's until they went throught the waah, then I got the truthear hexa, which isnt as good, I feel. Also have some etymotics, which are probably better but pretty different sounding. Planars are my favorite headphones and I do like thr extra technicality planars can provide, though balanced armatures sorta do that.

@@GREQReviews The Etymolotics or these? HBB pr2 is only 20 bucks so it's worth risking, maybe.. I should really just ignore these and focus on bigger things, though.. electrostats. In ears are a big compromise for me and only serve to be pocketable
@GREQReviews
@GREQReviews 3 месяца назад
@@mikafoxx2717 Shockingly, there's a lot I havn't heard :P ... that includes a lot of IEMs such as the Etymotics. I'm generally not a fan of IEMs. Electrostatics, when amped properly, are breathtaking. Anyone who considers themselves serious about high-end audio should at the very least audition a few e-stats in their lifetime.

By the look of it you haven't listened to this IEM much, it takes some time to break in the driver use a quality cable and drive it with something with more power than a phone unless the phone has a good DAC. They may not be everybody's cup of tea but for a cheap Planar this is a recommendation.

I actually used it mostly with my audioGD NFB11.28TXO and Fosi DS1, and I very much enjoy this IEM. I just have to give it a fair review, not a one-sided love letter.

I just got these. They are alot quieter than my Aria SE (using 3.5mm to usb-c) and I don't have an amp. Going to return them for the Truthear x Crinacle Red. Also not a fan of the memory foam ear tips or the stock cable.

Its too cheap. People who don't have the right gear and cant afford the right gear, buy it, and are dissapointed. They should sell it for $150. Get the Red or the QKZ HBB Khan
