Now I understand why the one stork was so small. I watched so many videos with this stork family...but this video actually explains why the bird was so small. It was the last egg to hatch so the others were bigger and able to eat the bigger sized foods. This little one was crowed out and basically starved to death.
Usually the smallest is the last to of hatched... It couldn't compete with its older siblings. They were faster and could consume bigger prey items. Unfortunately, his chances at survival were minute at hatching. For a little dude though, he sure gave it his best shot! If he would've beat the odds and survived the nest, there's no doubt he would've thrived and rocked this world! Rip little Benjamin. I still think of you often.
So the only time the baby ate was this last feeding and that was maybe 1 bug all the other times he was squashed under everyone or nowhere near the food. The other siblings were using him as a pillow poor baby
@@conceptalfa I definitely have my hand and toes crossed but after this am he had two great feedings by Dad. I’m almost certain the ringed stork is female as she is much smaller in size then the other. I thought they ring on the right leg males? I’m not sure maybe someone knows? TIA
@@conceptalfa Oh okay hey thanks for getting back to me I do appreciate that. I totally understand about the sporadic watching that’s how it started with me but then you get hooked lol this will be my third year following and watching
The momma bird always throw the smallest out of the nest. I wondered why they can watch them on camera but bot eescue it when we all know what is going to happen to the little one. They say they are not allowed to intervene.
Well, we are not supposed to control nature, we observe, learn and protect it. Its mommas job to make sure as many of the chicks survive and make it, but if there is a sick, weak, small or even late chick. It can put the rest in danger. Not to mention, these are not human and do not think and feel the same. The wild doesn't care about your feelings, these birds see it as a numbers game and the small chick, was last
Those horrible stork parents are either going to kill or eat all of them but one or two. I wished storks were extinct. Horrible horrible cannibal murderers birds
You can´t blame the stork for being what it is, an animal, they act for instincts, watch more documentals and less Disney movies, and BTW, they didn´t kill it, it was bad luck, simple as that.
