L.A Noire & Bully - Rockstar's Forgotten Games

Rockstar in recent years has severely limited the number of games it wants to release and has decided to only focus on two specific titles. This decision and caused games like L.A Noire and Bully to suffer as both games haven't received sequels in over a decade.

LA Noire will always remain a classic. Midnight Club is another one I'd easily add to the list. Just a shame that Rockstar saw the money pit from GTA Online and decided to abandon all their other IP & franchises and keep milking the well, because when they do decide to go back into their single player story bag, they do it really well. Great watch as always 👌🏿🔥💯

If your gonna talk about a forgotten Rockstar game Midnight Club is an excellent example I've forgotten all about that game until you just mentioned it. Everyone still talks about Bully and LA Noire don't know how someone can say they are forgotten about
@TheOnlyTaps
@TheOnlyTaps 2 года назад
@@jeffreymark475 Yeah Rockstar's catalogue is solid. So many games I remember from my younger years. That's why it's a shame to see them neglect so much of their IP chasing the cash cow that is GTA online when they could easily be doing both. Service the multiplayer microtransaction addicted side of gaming but simultaneously service those of us who enjoy a really good single player story game or just good IP and new stories in general. Ubisoft gone down a similar path just that unlike Rockstar with Ubisoft they've now made all their titles become one singular formula of just huge open world's with little to do in them with semi good stories and just filled with looting and side quests that don't really progress the story or add value. But yeah all in all I think LA Noire and Bully come up the most coz they were the easiest to continue and expand on. Even if anything if they don't want to extend the great stories they could do a Capcom and remake it like what Capcom did with Resident Evil 2 and 3 remake that sorta thing. Something at all at least, keep letting the devs do their thing and express their creativity without it being constantly tied into GTA
@VieleGuteFahrer

They re-released L.A. Noire and published a VR version of it well after GTA Online’s success. Not to mention RDR2, which required almost all of Rockstar’s resources before it finally launched. That’s unfortunately how it is with modern video games.

As someone who plays this game frequently, I have to dispute your claims on street crimes. The "Streets of LA" mode you get after completing all of the investigations of a desk allows you to do street crimes, get collectables and do free roam shenanigans. It is however quite obtuse, so you are still correct to some extent.

I had seen a playthrough many years ago on LA Noire and this past November decided to play for myself, and actually 100%'d the game. Something I only reserve for games I truly enjoy. With the RDR 2 engine, and how advanced motion capture is, I think a remaster of LA Noire with a sequel would be .. honestly breathtaking. Imagining LA Noire recreated with RDR 2 level graphics (the subtle facial animations that the characters could pull off).. is just amazing. It is however a niche genre, similar to Bully.. it just isn't as 'mainstream money making' as GTA Online is. GTA Online used to be higher standard, higher quality when it first launched even on the PC. However, as time went on, they started watering it down, lowering payouts for certain beloved missions/methods of playing, and then started releasing stuff that was questionable at best. Just to appeal to the now newest lowest common denominator, lowering the bar so kids can get in. Thus, more ways for people to spend their money. Take-Two is ultimately the culprit, but with how Rockstar have been acting lately (GTA Online and especially the negligence of RDR Online) Rockstar isn't clean either.

Story modes are the best part of gaming for me. It's like playing through a movie as the main character. You're able to immerse yourself in the environment and feel the drama. Online multiplayer is usually run and gun, game after game of mindless bullshit. Rockstar still concentrate in story modes as you saw with rdr2 which is possibly the greatest story ever told in game. Everybody wants gta 6 so bad they're turning on rockstar. The reason you want GTA 6 is because the previous games were so good. La noire and bully were great games and I'd love to see sequels, but I just can't get on side with the entitled people in the comments complaining about rockstar adding "too much content" to gta online for..... FREE!

Actually the whole thing with the cops not believing the cases were connected was a real thing that happened back then as there were a number of serial killers in la and the cops were either to corrupt or to dumb to connect them. L.A Noire was a bit of a strange game the execution was flawed at times, but I really did enjoy it. One problem I had was that the game turns into a bit of a guessing game since I didn't always know how they intended you to interpret the evidence. Several times there might be a piece of evidence that could, in my eyes, be utilized to indicate the same thing. It seems like the writers only had one very clear response in mind. But I think what I learned from it is that just because someone is lying, it doesn't mean they committed the crime. Often it seems like they are just trying to cover up something else they did that was illegal, and you don't always find this out in the game unless you get the right evidence. I don't know if there has been another game with such detail in facial expression which allows for a unique gameplay experience. I think the the point of the game was to play an immersive film noir. And I say it succeeded wonderfully. I would love to see a sequel based in either Chicago or New York it's such a great concept to work with but this will probably stay a dream unless someday a different game with a similar conception comes to the market.

If LA Noir 2 does end up being a thing than I hope that Jack Kelso is the main protagonist and that Mickey Cohan is the main antagonist. In LA Noir 1 Mickey goes into hiding at the end of the Vice Desk and is never heared of again, so him learning of The Suburban Redevelopment Fund and finding a way too blackmail the members who haven't been killed or thrown in jail is a perfect way too justify him being the main bad guy. Plus, Jack and Mickey have history as Mickey ordered the deaths of many marines who Jack was closed to and indirectly caused the death of Courtney Sheldon, because if Mickey wasn't being dishonest with Sheldon, Sheldon wouldn't feel pressured to sell to Harlin Fontaine which eventually leads to Harlin killing Sheldon.

These 2 are fun man. Them. I still have to try The Warriors and the Max Payne series.

Bully is one of those games we would never get nowadays. Same with the Manhunt games. Developers had balls back then

28:21 I'd call that a transitional period. Not every game will adopt the same outlook at once. It's not so much a redundant argument, things take time. It's not a switch where everything just changes.

Heck, Red Dead Online is Rockstar's newer title and it's molding on the No Support shelf already

Not making as much money as GTA Online, simple as that. Sure it's niche, just like LA Noire/Bully, but what hurts is that them being neglected when they could make DLCs and.. sure make more money from it, make the games better for it. Undead Nightmare, GTA 5 DLCs etc. Not to mention that those who wouldn't play Online versions would most likely buy the DLCs. But again, it's all about profits. DLCs might make them 50-150mil per game, whereas GTA Online alone, with less effort than a DLC 2-3 updates a year, makes 300mil+ per year. Easy choice there. Player's "gotta have it now" mindset is what got us here, shareholders learned that some players have to have the newest skins 'best' items (even if only a few percentages higher) or most expensive in-game things to 'show off', and even with all the cheaters in GTA Online, they still make hundreds of millions, boggles the mind. Because of these irresponsible player's and Take-Two/Rockstar's manipulation of those people, we are where we are. Microtransactions come first and all updates are designed around them, anything that doesn't link with MT's gets ignored. A sad reality. Because it brings down the game.

You see Gary 1 more time in Chapter 3 in the mission Wrong Part of Town, but I agree, we needed more of Gary in the game. Would've been nice to get his pic for the yearbook too before the end of the story.

At least LA Noire did receive a PS4/XBOX ONE direct port. It's the only rockstar's game to receive this treatment after GTA V. Not even RDR received this.

LA Noire will always be one of my favourite games of all time this was the first game I ever brought a season pass for, I’ve played it through countless times and every time I love it more and more, I played it when it came out on 360 then the Xbox one and now recently on the ps5, i wish that this game would get a sequel however with the studio no longer around I highly doubt we ever will

The asylum "checkpoint" is a spawn point and is them kicking you out of the asylum because you shouldn't be there etc, even have a some voice lines to do with that fact that this is the case I do believe ....might be wrong on the voice lines as I've not played this masterpiece in a while

It blows my mind that with all the riots in America, rockstar wouldn't bring back state of emergency. I know they only published it but man, that shit was fun.

LA Noire just needs some tweaking. the "pick up an object and turn it left and right" looking for clues doesnt work. theres many many MANY other ways to inspect for clues. If they made this change in a sequel it would be amazing.
