This is one of my all time favorite games. I've played it for hundreds of hours, and the city is so painstakingly detailed that I could still play it and notice something new. The sad thing is the developers were very passionate about the sequel and were already planning it, but then it was cancelled. I was truly heartbroken. The last hope is that an A-list director is STILL planning to make a movie based on the game, and if the movie did well then I think they must surely consider making the second game... Especially now that East Asian culture is so popular and the Chinese gaming market is opening up.

Yessss dude this game is SO underrated. It had so much potential to be a full fledged franchise.

My dad worked on this game, so around 2011-2012 right before the game was released, we got a used ps3 slim from my dads best friend, who worked at EA at the time (the job my dad had before quitting to experiment and work with United Front Games) and since we got the game a little early, I fell in love with it! this game is an absolute masterpiece, and it will forever be one of my fondest memories. RIP United Front Games.

Being a first generation American, I was so happy to hear authentic Cantonese being spoken in the game. It sounded so good, I felt like it was one of my uncles and aunties saying it.

One of the rare few games that actually got some emotion out of me, I typically play games for fun, and this is, yet the feeling i got when i was close to the ending of the game hit hard, its like a movie, you are a undercover cop, you get into trouble, things happen around the place and they are all connected well, yet by the time you are done it comes down to the fact you have gone through the game, and because of your involvement you dont really get anything out of it, As a Cop you done your job, yet you made a lot of peoples life a mess around you. Its extremely hard to pull stories like that off.

This game really was underrated. It was a masterpiece in its own way. Even the city/map had that cyberpunk feel/look to it. I went into this game not knowing anything. Left as one of my favorite games of all time.

I loved the open world in sleeping dogs. In a lot of ways it reminded me of the open world in Yakuza games (densely populated, interesting side activities etc) but on a much larger scale that made it feel closer to a series like GTA.

As a person who lives in Hong Kong, seeing all the immersive cityscape design and language choices is amazing! It really captures the feeling of the city well (even if the map geography obviously deviates from real life, but it's a game lol so that matters less), and all the familiar design makes me nostalgic even though I literally live here. And being able to read all the signs posted all over the place is hilarious due to how accurate to real life the tone and mood is (some of them are also obvious knock-offs of real life brands too).

at the time it came out, I enjoyed everything about it (the world, the story, the mechanics) so much more than the current GTA... I still don't understand how GTA is the one that everyone knows.

It's so angering to see such a masterpiece get tossed like this. We all know how much potential this game has.

What made me absolutely love the game was the setting. So few games are set in Asian countries, except fps games were you're just blowing shit up. All the characters were likeable and I started to care more about them, then actually bringing down the Sun On Yee. I got legit mad when the wedding was crashed and so many if my favorites were hurt.

I fell in love with this game back in 2015, my sophomore year of high school. I remember getting nearly every DLC and even getting the definitive edition. Both of which I platinumed simply for my love for the game. I'll never forget how much fun I had playing through both of them. Roleplaying as a cop, playing the fight clubs in the zodiac outfits, and playing through the game in the retro triad outfit for the triad score. It may not be perfect, glitches galore and Wei being the worst undercover cop ever. But it was perfect to me.

Sleeping Dogs, Mad Max, Days Gone are few of the most underrated games of previous decade. They should've got more recognition, it's a shame we probably won't get a sequel for any of them even though they truly deserved it.

I've completed this game so many times and I've enjoyed it every single time. It has everything that makes a game good and fun, from the massive open world, the side missions, the races, the funny time to time bugs that don't constantly happen but when they do it's hilarious, the amazing skill system, and of course the in depth DLC's. This game made my childhood and I still wish to this day that they would make another installment.

I loved this game so much. The story was great. It felt like a 90's/early 2000s Hong Kong film.

Man.. Finally completed this Game, actually started playing it a lot before, but stopped in btw due to being stuck in a level, and now after so many months that i restarted playing it... MAN! DAYUM!!! WHAT AN ETHEREAL, INTENSE ACTION-THRILLER MASTERPIECE! Truly Worth every second I invested in this hugely engaging and intuitive action adventure, what a total blast! To the point that its amazing story emotionally grasped me so much that I felt it couldn't be much great! The gruesome action supported by real and bone shaking animations, the mechanics, the controls which though maybe hard to learn at start but once taken care of will gave out the feel of the fight, the well fitting voice acting and the whole environment the game managed to showcase too beautifully and with great detailing. And the explosions the shooting taking cover the oarkour moves martial arts everything related to action and shooting is MIND BOGGLING!!!! Seriously, one of the most lovable and engaging experiences I ever had playing an open world, with GREAT STORYLINE, GAMEPLAY AND CHARACTERS! The gamer who didn't played this is missing a crazy underworld experience which only this 'One-of-Its-Kind' can offer.. Truly one of its kind. I am in love with Wei Shen. And this Game..!!! 😍

I remember this game fondly, I'm glad someone is covering it so thoroughly, it was fun as hell playing through it.

I've played this game a hundred times. But recently, I found myself unable to do the wedding. Knowing whats coming, how everything in the story happens, I feel its better to leave it here. My game is forever on hold. Peggy can keep up with the finishing touches for the wedding, Jackie can still be himself, Winston will keep looking forward to the wedding, and Uncle Po can sip his tea in peace for the rest of time.

I didnt knew the game sold so badly. Im a fan of the True Crime series and this was the unofficial 3rd installment. Really good game and aged very well too..im currently playing it again on steamdeck..still looks pretty good. But i will never get used to left side traffic 😅

I bought this game back on PS3 not because the marketting convinced me to but a few screenshots that peaked my interest enough to make me take a chance on it. Very fun and very impressive technically/artistically. Just great to grab someone and go running into whatevers around lol

This was actually one of the first games I played on my Xbox when I first got it, I remember we had just moved house and I didn’t have any Internet there yet but I had gotten the game from gold for free and it was one of the only games I could play. This game has a fond spot in my heart.

Unpopular Opinion. Very underrated. I have two versions of it. The oriiginal physical release with city map but cut and a digital uncut version. It drew me back in so much i had to buy it again!

I remember watching a RU-vidr named uberhaxornova completing the whole game back in 2015 or so. I always get nostalgia whenever I see sleeping dogs game footage and sometimes wish I could forget about game so I could rediscover it

You know with the drug busts you don't have to go right back to the apartment, you can just go and do them all then do the camera mini game thing after. But nice video it's nice to see people haven't forgotten about this gem off a game.

The immersion level in this game was simply incredible, I just got attached with it so much. I had flashbacks about it. The devs nailed the entire game world with an awesome storyline, fun gameplay and a world that felt alive.

I think if it had ended up being called True Crime maybe it would have done better, I remember Totalbiscuit playing this when it came out and it was only then I learnt it was related to True Crime. Bought it shortly after and it instantly became one of my favourite games.

18:21 The drug busts are easily the funnest part about the game. You go and beat up a bunch of dudes that are different for every location (unlike the fight clubs) and you can go back to your apartment and use the bugged camera whenever you want. I used to go do drug busts on the way to other missions or collectibles and then when I'm near the apartment or a mission puts me in my apartment I use the TV and bust all the locations I beat people up at in one go. You don't have to circle back and waste time going to the deal and then back to your apartment and then to another deal.

The environment kills with enemies is insane. That 7:30 for example. Damn! Lol XD

Wei is able to fight later on after being tortured because he is a F%&#ING BEAST!

Had this game in my Steam Library for YEARS (at some point it even became the Definitive Edition). Finally started it yesterday and am currently loving in. Surprised you say it didn't do well, because only top sellers on Steam tend to get that amount of Positive reviews.

Even though the shooting isn’t the greatest,it’s still fun with the slow motion. It’s still satisfying to this day for me getting a head shot in slow motion,especially with the one loud pistol. I’d buy a sleeping dogs game base around shooting if they put in as much effort as they did with the fighting.

I just played this one a couple weeks ago after picking it up on a digital sale for 4 bucks. Well worth the time. Especially that ending, which came out of nowhere.

This video speaks to me beyond a spiritual level. Played the game for the first time back in 2014 because of videos about it from smosh and other channels and it was so enjoyable. I replayed it like 3 times and had all the dlc for it. The only thing that I didn't like was the combat was way too easy but my god is this game criminally underrated.

During development, there were 3 dates per girlfriend but 2 were later cut prior to release. Originally, in the final date with Amanda, you had to shop for groceries and cook her dinner. Playing this game is almost as much fun as it was making it.

Its really two button combat but the story is such a killer mood that really gets in the mood to play it so it makes up for it and the driving is good

I grow up playing this game alongside GTA and I remember this game more than GTA V. I'm happy that I got to enjoy this rather unpopular masterpiece of a game! I still hope that someday they will make either a reboot or a sequel for this game.

I played this game and loved it so much, that the next time I drove after finishing it I accidentally was on the wrong side of the road for like whole minute

I feel like the cities aren't entirely amazing. They look spectacular and are nice to explore but Aberdeen and Kenedy Town has next to no content in them and they're both hard to navigate through. So when a quest ends up taking you to one of those places you end up in a bored stupor looking for something to do. There's no even vendors to buy from. You could've filled these places with illegal activities or cop activities. This is an amazing game though dont get me wrong I love this game one of my favorite games
