I often think about a conversation I had with David Foster, who I recently had the pleasure of working with on a Diane Warren song- he talked about walking around a Mall and going in and out of stores.

Predominantly Vocals and Drums.
This goes to show that in any mix the centre, the area unaffected by stereo imaging, is THE most important part of our mix!
While most Mixers don’t mix in Mono, they do very often check in Mono.
Understanding the basic concepts of LCR is a great tool to add to your mixing arsenal!
Most professional mixers have a great understanding of what EQ points work to help support the sides and the centre.
