The L-eNhance filter from Optolong is an absolute beast! So happy with this first light, minus the Scottish winds of course ;). More to come from this one, watch this space! -H

Awesome Helena! I've actually had the Bubble Nebula on my mind the past day as I just received a new book in the mail called "Cosmic Clouds 3-D" which is a book nebula photographs in stereoscopic 3D, and the Bubble Nebula with it's perfect sphere shape is one of the most convincing 3D conversions in the book. I was starting at it for minutes on end yesterday. I think you will get a lot of use out of your new filter! Clear skies, Nico

That's a beautiful shot of the bubble nebula! Plus Andromeda too. Few nights ago I photographed Mars with Pixel 4 and it turned out nice. I'm using Coowoo usb dew heating straps and Chris from DIY Astro advices me to get them as I bought 2 because I needed them to be light weight and Chris has been a fantastic help to me!!! He has been so helpful ever since I got star adventurer and evostar 72ed ds pro refractor. Your channel encourages me to go further in astrophotography and learn how's it done. Scottish talent from my country is a must for me! Stay safe and clear skies in bonney wee Scotland!!!

Congrats on the L eNhance filter, Helena. I reckon OSC cameras will become even more popular with the increasing sensitivity and these tri band filters on the scene. The bubble nebula is such a cool object, I remember imaging it with an old Bright Star Mammut CCD camera and with it's tiny sensor the bubble looked massive on the screen. Very good video by the way, you're very good at doing pieces to camera.

Hi Helena! I live in Nottingham someday wanna visit your place to see amazing astronomy 🔭 stuff. In midlands it’s almost cloudy all the time. One of my favorite nebula, and that filter really brings out the nebula and knocks back a bit of the brightness of the stars in order to allow the nebula to take center stage of the show. Great capture! I was hoping to catch a glimpse of this nebula visually, but I'm afraid my light polluted skies completely wash it out. Definitely something I can image from home, but can't get that visual for a sketch from my yard. Keep up the great work on your channel, and clear skies!

Very interesting video 👍. Came across your channel today and had a look at it, just subscribed 😀. Its interesting that you are able to get results with this filter when your subs are 60 secs. This is what I often shoot at (although I use a dslr) and I always thought that these types of filters needed 3-5 minute subs so your video is very encouraging. One concern I do have is that the stars are reduced so much that you struggle to see then in live view and can't get focus very easily. Is this an issue for you ?
@DJRonnieG
@DJRonnieG 4 года назад
I almost forgot, I accidentally "found" that nebula a couple of weeks ago while I was imaging a nearby target. However, it still has been a bad month. First it was the humidity... then the west coast wildfires (and some due to arson) from California and Oregon. The smoke actually formed thin blanket and sent it all the way over here to New York. The smoke is at an altitude of about 22,000 feet. It can go unseen on days with blue skies, but around sunset it becomes visible closer to the horizon, probably because it's thicker when viewed at an angle. The smoke shows up much like thin clouds when using PHD2 and I have only shoot with narrowband filters at present. I'm actually looking forward to the brisk winter weather.

Hi Helena, does the filter increase the background dark? I use a fully modded DLSR cropped which gets alot of noise and i have to process out the redness and noise which loses some data. thanks! Simon

Great video!🙌🏼 How do you know which settings to use like the exposure time of 60s, aperture etc? how do you know what is alright and can be used?
@Michael_Franke
@Michael_Franke 2 года назад
It is not as imported as with "normal" photography. She could have taken 40 oder 80 seconds with a comparable result. The light is collected in the series of single pictures she takes and then stacked with a special software. If you choose too long exposures and fewer shots you risk a satellite or plane crossing and you have to drop lots of data, or the bright areas in the nebula dominate too much. If you shoot too short and take lots of frames you increase the read out noise that comes when downloading the files... You'd say: Shoot as long as possible, but not longer. :-) Aperture: It is a telescope not a photo lens, so it is always wide open. In this case, she used a 600 mm Telescope with a 80 mm Aperture which means it has f 7.5. :-)
