In this video you'll discover the nootropic benefits of Phenylalanine. Including why we use Phenylalanine as a nootropic, recommended dosage, side effects and clinical research. This is an update to the video I did on Phenylalanine several years ago.
Phenylalanine is a highly bio-available essential amino acid. Your body naturally converts L-Phenylalanine into the amino acid L-Tyrosine which is then converted into L-DOPA. Decarboxylation of L-DOPA results in synthesis of the neurotransmitter dopamine.
Once converted into dopamine, the enzyme dopamine-beta-hydroxylase converts dopamine into the neurotransmitters norepinephrine (noradrenaline) and epinephrine (adrenaline). This triad of neurotransmitters are collectively referred to as “catecholamines”.
Sleep deprivation and extreme stressors like heat and cold can deplete catecholamine levels. L-Phenylalanine restores them to preserve optimal cognition.
Phenylalanine is a necessary precursor for dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine. As your dopamine levels increase, you’re better able to concentrate, organize your thoughts, and stay productive.
L-Phenylalanine can be an effective treatment for some with ADHD symptoms. L-Phenylalanine works in synergy with pharmaceutical drugs like Ritalin and Adderall by boosting extracellular levels of dopamine. Helping these drugs be more effective. And mitigating side effects like crashes when the drug wears off.
Many neurohackers report a lift in mood, better focus, concentration, increased energy, and an overall sense of well-being. L-Phenylalanine can help readjust your motivation levels. It can help lower anxiety levels, especially social anxiety.
If you’re into athletics or do manual work, you’ll find that supplementing with L-Phenylalanine before a workout or construction job can leave you feeling great afterwards. It may help mitigate many of the effects of acute stress caused by short-term stressors.
Recommended dosage of Phenylalanine is 500 mg up to 3-times per day.

I hope you can help me. Just this week, I started dlpa about 1000mgs. First two days were great, felt motivated, uplifted from my depression. The third day I went into an extremely deep depression! I am on a small amout of medication for depression that I would like to get off of. The obvious would be to cut the dose down but I'm really Leary about continuing. Any advice would be much appreciated. My "doctor" knows nothing but medication.

William, if you felt that on the 3rd day then you very likely do not need to boost dopamine. Does your med work for depression? Because if it does then find our how it works (i.e. pharmacology or mechanism of action) and then find a natural equivalent that does the same thing.

@@NootropicsExpert My meds do help like a band-aid but with a load of side effects, like what you mentioned in your Maca presentation. I would really like to get off them and find a more natural approach. I felt that the drugs are just masking and not addressing the real problem.

Comprehensive Neurotransmitters shows Dopamine and Tyrosine levels are within range. However, PEA level is low. Will DL- Phenylalanine help increase PEA?
@NootropicsExpert
@NootropicsExpert 17 дней назад
No. Only Phenylethylamine (PEA) will do that. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9huqXBEdZbw.html

Will L-phen interfere with lexapro for anxiety?
@NootropicsExpert
@NootropicsExpert 11 дней назад
Erin, I suggest caution about using this with Lexapro because you could increase dopamine too much. Which could make things worse for anxiety.

Why not just take L-Tyrosine?
@NootropicsExpert

You can use L-Tyrosine. Some prefer it over Phenylalanine. It depends on what works best for you.

How would you feel effects like that? It still needs to be converted into L dopa, which then still needs to eventually turn into one of the dopamine neurotransmitters. Thought these naturalish things shouldn’t have direct effects like that. They should allow you to feel different things as you go through them naturally due to more dopamine availability, not actually increasing dopamine stimulation like a stimulant would do

Will L-phenylalanine help Parkinson’s?
@NootropicsExpert
@NootropicsExpert 25 дней назад
Natural L-DOPA from Mucuna Pruriens is better for Parkinson's because if you get a 95 - 99% extract you can use it instead of prescription Sinemet and avoid the side effects of the prescription form. Phenylalanine is not likely to produce enough dopamine for Parkinson's.
@corywilliams5047
@corywilliams5047 25 дней назад
@@NootropicsExpert95-99% pure L-Dopa? So it’s only 1-5% Mucuna? I take 3 capsules per day(every 8 hours) of Mucuna 400 mg each, 15% L-Dopa or 60 mg Dopa per capsule for my Parkinson’s. That’s 180mg of Dopa per day. Can’t seem to find higher Dopa dosage than that in Canada. Maybe I’m taking too much Mucuna, I don’t know.
