Thank you so much for posting this. The development of Feuillade's art is fascinating. This (very) loose adaptation of Andersen's "The little mermaid" finds him in lugubrious form, half imitating Méliès and half experimenting with ways of shooting realistically, and discovering that the latter kills the magic of the story. It's not, I think, the director's best work, but I love that it's out there for everyone to discover.
