Sherman Oaks used to be considered a really nice area 20+ years ago. All of L.A. has lost their mind, the drugs are way worse than they were in the 90's too, so many in LA are on fentanyl and methamphetamines. I'm glad I don't live there anymore, I wish my family didn't have to live there really either. After returning a couple of years ago after being gone for about 10+ years you could really see the change and how bad it's got. The one's who live there don't see it as much cause it's come in gradually, but really it's a very drastic change from what it was.

Housing in So. & Northern California for the most part is unaffordable. Yet, homelessness counts both recent and even prior to covid, confirmed most of these people aren’t locals. Meaning, they came from all across the US. Ofc mixed in are the working not mentally ill, that came literally because the weather made being homeless survivable. Counts pointed to lack of affordable housing or good enough jobs in several places. Weather/liberal policies or not this points to social issues that some of us do not give enough attention until they are talking about building low income housing in our neighborhoods. Let’s be real. This has been long time coming. And it will get worse before it gets better. Let’s keep taking/voting ✌🏽
@eksbocks9438
@eksbocks9438 Год назад
@@othersbyuri It makes sense too. We have a Government Agency that deals with prisons. Why not have one to address the issue with unhoused people? Obviously, landlords are not going to be enough to resolve this. They're in it to make money. And a lot of them have a mortgage on the property they own. That's why rent prices are so high. But if apartments were built on land that was already paid off: It would be easier to make affordable housing. And we should be prioritizing apartments. Single Family homes are supposed to be an optional choice for the suburbs. In the city, it's a waste of land.

Dig deeper. It's not the drugs. It's what causes people to do the drugs... which usually stems from trauma, in childhood or early adulthood. Love your children, listen to them, give them your attention, let go of controlling them, stop abusing them in any form. Trauma, abuse and neglect cause brain damage, and then when they're adults they're shamed for not being able to cope. Drugs provide relief from it all. Stop being part of the problem, hold yourself accountable for the way you treat others. Yes, you helped cause this problem. Learn to love yourself and others without conditions.

@@jaad9848 That’s the most irritating part of it all, they’re not just dealing with the local home grown loonies they’re actively try to attract them to California by giving everybody free shit! On the John and Ken show on AM 640 KFI in Los Angeles they were always railing about this fact and one of their field reporters was telling John and Ken that while he was talk to homeless people about getting help to get off the streets and get a job a homeless couple in their early 30’s replied “Why should we, we get money from the city and state, free food and cell phones and we can eat, sleep, screw and do drugs and don’t have to work for it”! Also, their are too many ‘homeless assistance groups’ making big money from the government to supposedly help the homeless out and they certainly don’t want to kill the golden goose by solving the problem, they just want to ‘manage’ the problem! It’s called the Homeless Industrial Complex and they’re raking in billions!

I lived in Sherman Oaks back in the day and Ventura blvd always felt safe, recently visited and it felt like walking down a mini skid row. Sad to see no one care for these business owners, they'll eventually have to close up shop or be eaten up by corporations. Seems the age of small businesses is coming to a close these days, and mega corps are just becoming multi industrial oligopolies.

Before all the liberals demand police transparency and putting cameras on these guys, the police used to be able to handle this situation like a champ, police were able to take care the problem that laws can’t reach. Not anymore, they are solely able to act what law says and nth more. What can I say, people? Be careful what you wish for I guess

I lived in Tucson and most of the time the cops let the homeless go because putting them in jail means they're going to get the food, shelter, water, etc.

Homeless advocates are stuck in Pathological Altruism. Nowadays street homeless and are fentanyl addicts, and not capable of doing anything no matter how simple it is. Street encampments are open air drugs markets brewing all sorts of crime. Majority of them will die from fentanyl overdose, or drugs related violence. Second hand fentanyl smoke can easily kill you

Yeah unfortunately that’s what some of them do, purposely get sent to jail. Free night stay in a cozy cell. Better than what they’re used to.

These aren't just homeless people. They are people who are suffering with mental health issues. The health care system in this nation is broken. I know someone with mental health issues and it's SO HARD to get some one committed for acting like a complete lunatic. People have to admit themselves and they usually released within 24 hours. There are many homeless people that live in their cars and have jobs. You would never know that they were homeless if you didn't tell them. I personally believe that mental institutions need to be bought back because there so many people that need to be in them that are just wandering around the streets terrorizing people.

Imagine the fear that other, mentally-stable homeless people must be living in right now. Especially women and disabled people. These violent, unstable people are posing a risk to *everyone* in the community; those saying that it’s anti-homeless to think these people should be arrested or sectioned aren’t considering the fact that there are millions of non-violent homeless people who also want these people off the streets because they are literally in fear of losing their lives to a random attack.
