Tariq T Ali was attacked by a homeless man while he was working in Venice last year. The attack caused him to lose a finger. As the homeless problem in Venice continues to explode, Ali's telling his story for the first time.

Absolutely. They can do no wrong when being aggressive. You have to cater and “deescalate” while they’re being vicious and attacking you. They always bring up mental illness as if every single homeless person has schizophrenia or something.

He sounds like a really nice guy he's got a big lovable heart that's the size of a teddy bear who wouldn't do any harm but I know he's there to do what he has to do but in reality it's time to bring some people in there to help him because he can't do it alone and trust me I'm a California Native and I've been gone for some 14 maybe 15 years of if not longer but like I said he needs some help and as far as the homeless people this is not only California's problem but it's all over the place and but it needs to be done by the homeless people need to be put in a place where they can get the help that they need seriously don't keep telling them to the side but find a way to help and for the security guard big lovable character with a wonderful heart and a soul that goes with it glad that he's okay and he's safe and sound and I hope nothing happens to him or to the people who owns their businesses everyone be safe be blessed.

I'm new to Venice Beach so I haven't seen him yet but it seems like just a cool likable guy who was just doing his job. I'm glad he's still able to stay in a good spirit. However I wish the local media would stop demonizing the homeless out here. Im homeless but I just chill and smoke weed and meditate out here.
