As it is a film of Chaplin expected more comedy than romance. That isn't what happens unfortunately. But Chaplin doesn't disappoint. The story is very busy and packed by competent soundtrack, which was successful at the time. Like Chaplin, I preferred Cary Grant along with the ever-efficient and charismatic Sophia, but by then Grant was retired. With a naturalistic style, Brando doesn't always act as a romantic movie go-lucky man should behave. He even belches the scene. Something that still clashes with audacity.
