My top 5 partners: 1. Ralph Dunn, helpful and funny, not much else to say. 2. Stefan Bekowsky, helpful and kind towards Cole, but sometimes he's a little bit too much tough guy, what causes to end up in live risking situations, a perfect example of that is when he insulted some gangsters, and then the gangsters chase Phelps and Bekowsky. 3. Herschel Biggs, helpful, but a bit on the edgy side. 4. Finbarr 'Rusty' Galloway, he is less helpful than other partners and also brutal, for example when he kills 2 unarmed hobo's with a shotgun at a hoboxamp, and also has is own logic of solving cases. Not the greatest partner, but he is still helpful sometimes. 5. Roy Earle, can be funny in words an actions, but he's corrupt, very racist and has friendships with gangsters. And not to mention that he ratted Phelps out.... In shorter words, he's a dirty cop.
i was kinda suprised that bekowsky returned because i liked his humor and his act and he was the best partner to me the top 4 partners in LA Noire are 1 Roy earle 2 Rusty Galloway 3 4 Stefan bekowsky
How could cole do this? He was such a man of principle and respect. It broke my heart when he did such a heinous thing. I guess when you got urges and you work hard with no play, you tend to fall in the nether of temptation. But still, Hated that Roy Earl ever since the start of traffic when you meet him. What an arse
Contrary to popular belief, the game DOES explain why Cole has the affair with Elsa. In a late-game conversation between Elsa and Fontaine, she mentions that thanks to Cole, she has been driven to give up drugs once and for all. She also mentions that Cole has been able to finally shake off the impossible standards he had set for himself, caused by his guilt over what happened during the war (both the Silver Star incident, and the cave hospital massacre). Cole and Elsa fell for each other because they were kindred spirits, both haunted by a past they couldn't escape until they met each other. Cole couldn't ever bring himself to talk to his wife about his past trauma, which is what drove him to Elsa (with whom he felt he could confide in). All of this is revealed AFTER the big moment when he's outed by Earle, leading me to believe they intentionally kept the player in the dark until afterwards, where they finally give you the pieces of the puzzle needed to figure it out. You're meant to be going "WTF?" to Cole's cheating as much as the city does, then slowly learning why in the aftermath of the scandal. So basically, he DIDN'T do it because he "could," or because he's just a flawed character, or many of the other reasons I've seen listed in topics about this. There's a very specific reason that is slowly illuminated throughout the Arson desk cases.
That's not L.A. Noire 2, but "Whore of the Orient", the new video game that Team Bondi is making - Team Bondi in L.A. Noire was the developer and Rockstar the publisher, NOT the main developer. After liquidation, Team Bondi's assets and most of its staff went to KMM. Other employees have gone in different Rockstar Studios and Rockstar Games retained the L.A. Noire intellectual property.
There are three things wrong with this ending: First off, was Cole really stupid enough to go after Elsa, even when Roy was clearly supicious of him? Second off, how did Roy get photos of Cole and Elsa together? Did he photoshop them? Because I don't think there was technology advanced enough back then for him do that. Third off, I know that it was a big thing back then, but did the LAPD really demote Cole, even after all his achievements for them? And I just love it how people's comments on the streets change from: ''Hey, it's that guy, I heard he's an honest cop.'' to ''It's that creep, that walked on his wife''.
+Filip Kowalewski It helped them, because it distracted the public from the vice squad corruption. He didn't get a picture of them naked, going at it, but Cole going into her building late at night, maybe pictures of them out, maybe kissing. Walking out on your wife was a big deal back then, and plus she was a German (and distrust towards Germans was still high 2 years after the war) and a drug addict which was really frowned upon back then.
MsAquamonkey Looking thought these comments, I get the feeling people dislike Cole more for cheating on wife than the drug dealers and corrupt developer he's going after.
He had an affair with Elsa because he had a lot more in common with her than his actual wife. Cole and Elsa both had dark and edgy back stories. Cole simply couldn't open himself up to his wife like he was able to with Elsa. After all, he managed to get Elsa to stop using morphine while she managed to get rid of Cole's delusions of grandeur.
+Kazz Yeah, I know this is like 8 months later but I still play the game, but it took me a while to realize what he was doing, then while tailing her I realized and was pretty damn mad with Cole, I was looking forward to doing more vice work, then well, Arson came up and well, Hershel, You're just not as good as Roy
Samuel White you want someone’s family to die over a game and may I say Michael Ruiz is right Cole died a hero and even if Cole cheated nobody is perfect so stop overreacting like a baby
It was more the fact he was set up by Roy Earle. Cole was slowly uncovering the corruption of the Vice squad, so Roy exposed his affair with Elsa to divert the media's attention away from the Vice squad's illegal activities.
Adultery was (and still technically is) actually illegal in some parts of the US, which is why Cole was suspended. Usually, it was pretty hard to get prosecuted for it due to lack of proof...unless someone, you know, photographed it.
I actually cried seeing the ending cutscene. What a big mess Cole Phelps has done my guess is that he felt sorry for his wife and kids but not himself because by the look on his face he couldn't forgive himself.
@MrJiggmin1234 1) 21 main cases, 5 additional cases (DLC), three already available and the other two to be released. 2) Five in all, one for each desk.
I don't get the complaints. The game handles the cheating just fine. You're supposed to pick up on all the family talk from the previous parts of the game, especially combined with his past.
51:30 Yeah you better run! I know that Cole is suspended but I find that too much, I'm okay when Phelps is demoted because I would find that he's still keep his job.
His badge is the badge of the Vice departament, his gun was their property as well. He still works for the LAPD. As for his actions he was demoted to the Arson Desk, the comment of him being a criminal was of exaggeration. That's the reason why on the next mission cutscene you see the Arson Desk Chief be pissed off with him.
Well, in The Gas Man, it's said he's up for a review board in December, and Phelps was said to be a good case man in the LAPD. Also, my guess is that he was not going to arrested just yet due to procedure, and he probably still had good press from all the cases solved, so I'm just guessing, but I;m sure there's a reason.
i find it ironic that Cole and Marie Phelps are played by 2 actors who are married to each other in real life too lol. it makes this cutscene even more interesting to watch!
The big problem is how the cheating comes so out of nowhere as it's the player character. I was like "When did I do that? I've just been solving these cases!"
The guy in the Robbery Detective office that gives you the manifest does NOT appear for me in the game. Even though I found all the clues prior, including the BARS in the back of the 111 Club. Any ideas why or how I can fix this?
@humalainen452 He got fired because he was caught committing adultery (cheating on his wife). Adultery was an actual crime in California until sometime in the 60s or 70s. Criminals aren't allowed to serve as police officers.
damn it!!!! i think his partner earle had something to do with these "pictures" since he was the only one that knew that cole was going over to Elsa's place.. smh, i cant believe cole got suspended.. :( lol this game seems soo real!
Cole just had to fuck up. To this day I never understood men who cheat it's like if you're lucky enough to find someone who loves you enough to marry you why would you cheat on that person?
