So weird I was just thinking of this. Like you’re a woman that happens to also be attracted to women so you’re going for the same effect that most guys are going for plus you also have the nose of a woman. Your opinion on fragrances are super valid
thanks for bringing up an interesting topic. It's an insightful observation regarding the perception of smell. It's rare that someone will say things about fragrances that are thought-provoking. I really appreciate it.
Interesting you mention this cus a close family member worked w/ JPG during the early 90's & apparently the idea or motivation behind Le Male was it meant to be worn by men to attract other men, specifically in nightclubs. So essentially it was made w/ the gay man in mind & it makes sense given how many designers of frags are gay.
Interesting, too, because I am new to fragrances and I tested Le Male and my very first impression was that the smell was too feminine. Supposedly women like this fragrance (Jeremy Fragrance, Ashley Weston), but do they actually want their men to wear this?
I do appreciate how you include and talk about women's fragrances as well in your videos. I find that very refreshing. and thanks for going off the beaten path and introducing us to less popular fragrances! great job Melissa !!
That is what everyone has always said about Aventus. The girls like it, but it is more of a boxer dropper. All the guys love it, but girls just kind of like it
Love the video and the topic u should make a video on lists on more fragrances that fit each gaze and what each gender thinks is attractive vs what they actually find attractive
I love this and I agree 100%, that's why I wear whatever I want now. Especially being a collector now I have so many scents that I probably rarely smell the same day to day lol. I will say I am obsessed with la nuit de lhomme though and bleu electrique and I'm upset they discontinued it already before I could make it my signature scent.
Ive grown to like your opinion on fragrances. Been watching your vids from time to time. After my 2 year cologne collection journey. I can confirm. Its weird because typically the fragrances I don’t care too much for, are the ones that hit. SMW isn’t my fav, but I’ve women walk by and say omg something smells good. Now it’s my go to lol.
Great content! Which is why I love Pegasus. I think it smells great personally…but females absolutely love it. I know you think it’s feminine and that’s probably part of the attraction of females when I wear it
I would LOVE if you did a video on Very Good Girl by Carolina Herrera (if you have it or can get a sample). I pretty much always agree with all of your opinions on fragrance and I'd love to see what you think of it!
So funny you used the example of good girl, my girlfriend got it as a gift last year and I absolutely love it, it’s easily my favourite from her collection 😃
I really enjoyed this video. 😅I may just get that good girl fragrance after all. I honestly didn't care for it and what you say is so true. What women find basic, men love the scent and vice versa. I generally love clean, aquatic but dark scents on men yet my significant other loves his sweet, spicy and woodsy scents. 🤦🏾♀️I don't care for them really especially in the heat. I'll get him the YSL thank you ❤️
Your advice is unique. No one like you on RU-vid and I agree 100% (I'm a straight lady) and from the beginning to end of this video, I found you so insightful. We think alike. New subscriber for life! Keep it up.
Yeah I love Dolce and Gabana light blue forever, all male fragrance RU-vidrs love it. But the generic public of women and fragrance RU-vidrs that are women say it’s either straight grapefruit or grapefruit mixed with salt.
I bought Born in Roma because of the pretty bottle but also because girls kept saying it was a compliment getter…. I never received one compliment on it lol. Delina on the other hand… men and women compliment me 😊
Hi Melissa, wondering if you could get your hands on Ted Lapidus Poker face as it's apparently a very similar clone of YSL LNDL. Would love to see your thoughts on this perfume!
my 2 favorite fragrances to smell on a woman are like she said Carolina herrera Good girl and Chance Chanel Eau Fraiche(green apple one) also dkny be delicious ... if youre a girl and you want a fragrance that attracts men well then make sure it is fresh and has pepper in it, not powdery or sweet
Creed Aventus is a prefect example of something guys hype tf out of but from what I've heard girls don't mind it, bu just on the fact guys like it more than girls means that the 400 dollars spent on it could be spent on something cheaper that actually gets a good reaction from a female, but either way I've found tuxedo is the type of fragrance that I love and girls love though I need to get a another bottle of it my 8.4 oz is in its last third
Aventus is definitely more of a boxer dropper. I’ll do a video about this but if you want the female gaze on Creed…. SMW > Aventus. And yes Tuxedo is HEAT
The worst is when people spend that money on a fragrance but not their clothes and expect women to find them attractive in their New Balance and straight cut jeans.
I recommend Aventus to other guys… Let them waste their money on attracting other guys… 😂… Meantime, I’ll be wearing something to draw in the ladies. 😏👍
Also, with unisex fragrances, some may smell really good, but as a woman, I found that guys may not really like a "unisex" fragrance on me so much. Instead, I found that they prefer a more :"feminine" fragrance on me--- like when a woman walks by, a nice "feminine" scent will trigger the thought that "ahhh, there goes an attractive WOMAN!" Interesting topic, and sometimes I wonder what guys might think of my more "unisex" fragrances. Like, take the fragrance "Side Effect" for example- a really nice fragrance, but I saw a comment from a guy saying he likes the fragrance but would not really want to smell it on a woman.
As a guy I think that unisex or even some more masculine leaning fragrances smell really nice on women. I’m not every guy though of course and idk what the overall consensus is among guys but a lot of really feminine fragrances can be too floral and sweet and girly girl it gives me a headache. Plus a girl shows she’s unique when she wears stuff she’s not “supposed” to
@@michaeldanchez9530 Thank you. Those are some good points, and I think many other guys would agree (but I hear conflicting opinions, and, of course, that is because we all have our individual preferences, but it makes me curious sometimes about what guys think). I understand your point about the "too floral" notes and I also tend to avoid those. I tend to usually prefer unisex fragrances that lean feminine; for example, Oud Satin Mood Extrait.
@@MusicFanOnline for sure, and I think women who aren’t deep into fragrances and know all their options and what smells good on them and matches their personality, it feels like it would be hard to find feminine fragrances that smell mature but not like old woman mature and not like a young girl either. My ideal feminine scent to smell on a women would be something that makes them smell smart and mature without smelling old lol if that makes sense
Ysl La Nuit De L’homme was one of my first scents. I absolutely love it. Women love it (the ones I’ve encountered), but unfortunately it doesn’t last long on my skin :’(
Great information, All the fragrances in my collection that my wife finds attractive. I don’t like. I wear them anyway cause at end of day The point is to please the person your trying to smash 😂
To be honest I don't like JPG Ultra Male and the flanker (also I don't like all JPG fragrances), but when I use it my wife is like crazy. I live in tropical country mostly female here love JPG Ultra Male and Le Male.
My favorite fragrance is Initio Side Effect... but my wife doesn't think it's anything special... she prefers earthy, green, fresh fragrances... which are some of my least favorite profiles
yeah I’m wondering what kind of guys don’t like la nuit, cuz most guys online do praise it… maybe it’s not that popular among people outside the fragcom, I do notice that I’m basically the only one wearing la nuit nowadays, never smell it on other guys… I only have one friend who wears l‘homme edt, that’s it
@@ssnbenedn847 i own a 2013 and 2020 bottle and there are differences but I really like both actually… some people might even prefer the newer one cuz it’s a little less spicy but more versatile… but it is probably recommendable to macerate newer bottles, let it sit in your collection for a while first cuz they do smell kinda weak fresh out of the box… i purchased a 2021 bottle and thought it smelled different to the 2020 bottle despite it technically being the same formulation (code is on the back of the box after the ingredients list, in this case C167049/1). this has been the same code since 2015 until 2021 so there shouldn’t be too many variations between these batches but there has actually been a new formulation since the end of 2021 or something, noticed it on a 2022 bottle (code: N70011799/1)… i don’t really know about that one, so maybe get a 2015-2021 batch if you can…
A simple example that I experienced, I was in doubt between perfumes L'Interdit Rouge and Intense. ALL perfumers recommended Rouge to me, I ended up blinding it, and it smells good, but it reminds me a lot of a luxury prostitute. I found out later that the real magnetism for the guys comes from Intense's elegant way of vanilla and sesame. And NONE of the women suggested the intense as a sexy and conquering scent, unlike the Rouge that is in ALL the videos of sensual perfumes and in practice does not give any results.
I agree about JPG, even the bottle if u like man u like the bottle, I wear feminine fragrance/ clothes but girls attracted and I don't imagine myself grabbing Le Male's bottle 😂
I hate the way Aventus, Layton, & Hachivat, but my wife loves it... To me the perfumes smell like coconut, "Bengay," and metallic synthetic... But my wife smells grapefruit and musk.
To take it deeper it's based on your chemistry. I have worn fragrances to wear dudes will ask me what I have on. They have the same fragrance .When I learn what notes worked well on me I always get compliments...oh and making sure my ass is washed lol 😆
I really like your channel Melissa and appreciate your view. But in fairness, I feel this video is very biased. From my experience I feel girls had better reaction to Ultra Male than guys had. I personally and my guy friends did not enjoy Ultra Male. But I received several compliments from women. There are so many factors going into what and who when it comes to fragrances. Especially, when you yourself claimed you were dissapointed with Ultra Male, making it obviously biased. The fact that you speak on behalf of females as if most females share your opinion is misleading (in my opinion). Otherwise, great channel and I'm subscribed.
I didn’t speak on behalf of all women. Only the ones who told me that hated it when they smelled it in my collection. And like i said a million times, fragrances are subjective so bias will always be there
@@melissanacional9662 Understandable. It's interesting how I experienced the opposite of you. Girls enjoyed ultra male but I personally found it too sweet. But I live in a colder climate.
Fragrance is subjective, she’s going off her experiences, while you’re going off on your own. Now if you can’t objectively step back and realize that…and still claim one over the other due to preference or experience then you have created that bias yourself. There’s nothing wrong with that. Again at the end of the day everyone is different, it’s all subjective…more reason to just wear what you enjoy.
@@jasonbarbosa708 yes and I never disagreed with the fact that fragrances are subjective. That was the point of my original comment. Read it again. My issue mainly lies with the way she generalizes her personal experience onto the male and female gaze (which is a very general thing).
@@jasonbarbosa708 ofc she says from my experience and many other girls' experience and so on. But throughout the video basically says: If you like it then wear the shit out of it but most females dont share this taste/opinion Which in my opinion becomes misleading when that becomes the main takeaways from the video. But I just wanted to highlight it. Wasn't intended to rub anyone wrong here.
Honestly fragrance don’t drop anyones pants lol you have to wear the fragrance not the fragrance wear you and you have to have confidence the fragrance just sits on your skin and won’t do the work for you
Greetings from Denmark. I don't know about women, but I think many guys have some sort of blind faith in videos like "Top Ten Panty dropper", "Top ten compliment getters" etc. I love La Nuit and I love fragrances like Terre D'Hermes but also an oldie like Boss Bottled. To me it's very much about making the fragrance you wear your own. In the end a fragrance is only an accessory to your personality. A person like Tom Hiddleston or Ryan Gosling could wear a $20 fragrance if they wanted, and it's wouldn't change much about how attractive they are. In the end it's about personality. I generally hate the expression Panty Dropper. All women are different and have individual tastes.
Well, I’m a guy and I LOVE La Nuit. Maybe it’s because I’m a gay male? I don’t know, but I think it’s one of the best in the world. Along with YSL L’Homme EDP. That said, I liked Ultra Male but not as much as La Nuit.
As a straight guy, LNDL and L'homme are the two best fragrances I've ever smelt. Been wearing them for a decade, I never tire of them. Sex and sophistication in a bottle.
I'm not a massive fan of the smell of good girl. All smells are subjective and work differently on peoples skins. People should like what they are wearing themselves and if you get a good reaction then great.
@@melissanacional9662 kinda is though isn't it. I know girls who go mad for ultra male and some don't like it..I personally don't like it and I'm a bloke but I know some girls love it and go crazy over it. Also chris Hemsworth is on top of most lists of what girls want and not Tom. I think you're putting across your personal opinion far to much. No male has ever said to get ultra male or that they like it, it's not on top of the list for most guys so I don't even understand where that comes from. Maybe it's different over here but from what you've said I could make a video of the complete opposite from what I've "seen"
@@melissanacional9662 Wouldn't you have the same taste as guys. You're a woman, but you kind of have a sexual preference that men have. If I was looking for a cologne to attract women i would want to hear the opinion of someone who likes men. That's not dumb because we don't fully understand the mentality of people who are abnormal. People who like the same sex.
This is a perfume thread for those interested. If your extreme Conservative sentiments are offended by "abnormal mentality' of people preferring the same sex - there are many "abnormal reviewers" and I suggest you join a more appropriate thread for your views. I am not gay but don't care others are
How ultra male sweet vanilla bomb is a guys guy scent pls. aventus is a guys scent but ultra male... you should be living in a different universe. Guys are even afraid to wear ultra male because its too sweet i really dont understand you
The amount of guys that have messaged me saying they bought ultra male because a guy told them girls love it, are the same ones telling me they’re disappointed because only guys compliment them. Not hard to understand 😂
@@melissanacional9662 i dont wear it that often but when i wear it i get asked by girls like what is it what are you wearing. When i am getting real good reactions it is really hard for me to belive that girls dont like it. The only girl who didnt like it is my sister and she doesnt really like any sweer kinda fragrance.
If a girl finds a guy hot he can wear febreze air freshener and she'll go crazy for him. If a girl thinks a guy is ugly then he can wear tuxedo ysl and it won't do anything. Not saying fragrance doesn't matter, as it certainly does, but your looks matter more.
Perfume Is subjective like food. This video has non sense. Thats my opinion. I Hope you not get offended ,you know, you american lesbian asiatic feel offended for everything...😏
*Women are not a monolith. Some women (my wife for example) much prefer a Chris Hemsworrh over a Tom Hiddleston any day of the week. She actually thinks Hiddleston is very ugly 😂. So your advice may work for your circle of women but you cannot talk as if it’s universally applicable. It’s simple guys, know the girl you’re pursuing!*
@@melissanacional9662 no you never made this point. You said you can _wear whatever you want._ But your point in the vid was the _guys think women like x_ when _women actually like y._ You never qualified it by saying “this isn’t the case for all women”, or “this is what happens to be the case amongst the women in my circle” or even added a disclaimer saying “not all women are the same so *know the woman you’re trying to pursue”.* It was _“this is what you think women like, this is what they actually like but wear whatever you want”._ That’s not the same point.
I disagree with this. Just because we like something ourselves doesn't mean we like it on the opposite sex. For example a lot of women will love to wear a pair of louboutin heels, but I'm sure that doesn't mean that they want their guy wearing it. I love Sauvage, but I don't want my GF wearing it. It makes her feel more like a dude. When I smell her in a nice Jo Malone, I find that a lot more attractive.
You missed the point of the video. a fragrance being comforting and balanced between masculine and feminine can’t be compared to a man wear heels. And I’m talking about what girls find attractive not guys 😂
