Yeah i’m a bit confused about the performance complaints. I sprayed dior sauvage and ysl la nuit de l’homme on each of my wrists. And believe it or not, i still smelled ysl after about 6/7 hours where as sauve almost completely vanished. Reviewers do tend to mimic the fragrantica and (Jeremy fragrance) opinions and fragrantica is basically filled with Jeremy fragrance followers. So the problem with this community is that it creates this circle where Jeremy says something about a fragrance, then the fragrance community start smelling said fragrance with Jeremy’s opinion in the back of their heads and then this sort of “placebo” effect happens. This resulted in fragrances keeping this sort of ‘bad’ or ‘good’ reputation. I mean look at sauvage for example. The performance is shit in comparison to when it first came out, and it actually smells less strong too. But as long as Jeremy fragrance says it’s a “bEaSt” it’ll keep this reputation of long lasting fragrance. But like i said, la nuit de l’homme outperforms it by a large margin in 2021.

MrSmelly1977 Exactly. Although the older formulations are much better and way longer lasting, I just can't run around all day looking for an older formulation. I just carry a travel atomizer with me and re apply. But I must say, if I will see a first/second formulation bottle on a shelf, instant buy.

This is what I do, I bought a 200Ml bottle and I routinely fill my travel atomizer with it to keep it going. I do the same with Versace Pour Homme. I got great deals on both large bottles, so it works out.

i bought a bottle couple of months ago and i can tell you honestly that it is the best fragrance of all time. the scent is just amaaaazing! i can't really stop smelling myself all day long when i wear it.

I have 2014 version and it was amazing even then. It was my signature for years. But it is watered down. That opening lasted and lasted and omg that dry down...It was heavenly. Now, that opening goes away in the first 10 mins and after an hour no one can smell you. 2014 lasted at least 6 hours. You need to respray yourself a LOOOT, like 10+ sprays every hour. Which is crazy. it is a pale shadow of what it once was. Not worth it and I dropped this with a heavy heart. Everything women loved in this... is gone now. Now it's lavander water. if they change it back, okay but it has been destroyed. Not only this was one of the best YSL selling frag, but it was one of the best fragrances in the world among 1000s of frags, this was easily top 5 in many many many ppl lists. I am so pissed at YSL for destroying such a masterpiece. It's like you do a restoration of mona lisa and you fuck it up. I would def sign a petition to bring back even 2014 version if not the original because of the IFRA regulations. But in it's current state... no, not worth it. it's not even the same smell and my axe lasts double the time. Really sad to see this one go. I'd love for Jeremy Fragrance to take the petition to YSL as he got the hype and since that video on fragrantica, La Nuit got from 3000 people voted to almost 6000 in just 2 years. So if anyone can talk to these guys, it's him. I've sen a lot of reformulations and I'm okay, but I am so so not okay to see this one go. Really.

I think that it is why we're seeing so many new frags and new reinterpretations of old ones. Because they got hammered down with regulations in 2015 so now they are pushing something new... like Valentino Uomo line, Spicebomb Extreme, 1 Million Prive, The One EDP, ADG Profumo, CH Men Prive... I think those won't be so heavily reformulated in years to come because they are the successors to the originals because of the reformulations. But have you noticed that many many of those that came out from let say 2005 to 2014 have been severely reformulated.

Yeah, to be honest, I was scared, but I bought 2020 batch and what? Guess what... It lasts 6 hours+ it's like 6-7 hours. I sprayed yourself and after 2-3 hours girl which was driving with me in my car said that the scent is still in the car. I was sniffing my wrist all evening and I went to the bed after 6 hours, but I still could feel the smell on my wrist. So it's probably something between 6 and 8 hours on my skin.

I had this fragrance three times, 2010,2011&2014 ,, the scent is unique,classy, warm and romantic, suitable for winter nights dating❤ in general.. only the problem is the reformulation cause I think the older version still the best one of La nuit de le homme.

I have this. It lasts all day on my skin (8hours+). I love this and have used this in various situations I.e close encounters, work, indoors, outdoors...always had great results and have also gather a few compliments. Amazingly sexy fragrance.

I think fragrances get reformulated for a few reasons. Sometimes the original fragrance contains an ingredient that eventually gets banned in certain countries, so in order to keep it selling everywhere, the manufacturer complies and changes the formulation. Certain ingredients become harder to find or become too expensive.

For colognes in my opinion, any cologne honestly, if you wear button down shirts, they actually tend to last a heck of a long time on them, ive tried and they last a huge huge while. For just regular shirts, or polos they dont stick around though, ive tested it lol but as for button down shirts or suit, they do last

One of THE best openings out there. I also have the reform but love it so much I bought a back-up so I can go heavy with the spray. Agree with the fact that it just doesn't last. Nevertheless, this is def a cologne you cant put too much on so just adjust your spray number to enjoy it more. I get compliments on this thing almost every time I wear it. YSL bomb-sauce.

Nice review......I personally love the various YSL L'Homme fragrances and imo they are best suited for close encounter, intimate occasions......I sampled the L'Homme Ultime and really like it, but for now L'Homme and La Nuit de L'Homme are like catnip to my wife.

I don’t know what you guys are talking about with the performance. I just bought a bottle a week ago. (2019 batch so it’s the latest formulation) I’ve been testing this for the past week and at least on my skin I’m getting 7-8 hours of longevity with 3 hours of moderate projection and then it sits a little closer. By the 5th-6th hour it’s more of a skin scent but I can still smell it 100 percent until the 9 hour mark. On my skin I have to say, this stuff works amazing!! I might just have really good skin for fragrances but for me the projection and longevity is good for me, people give this fragrance way too much crap saying that it’s been “watered down” but for me this is fantastic. I haven’t tested any other formulations of this fragrance, I am only talking about my 2019 bottle. I don’t know if it’s old juice put into a new bottle, all I know is that it works so well on me that it can be a potential signature scent if I wanted it to be. 9/10 for me, solid fragrance!

i own this and have the 2017 batch. i just got it about a week ago. i sprayed it at 630pm and it was Very strong. Lasted over 6 hours on my skin.. i don't know about your skin.. but this was very good on the projection. it was more than an arms length for at least 6 hours. You must have a bad batch. The 2017 i've heard is better and closer to the original.

I smelled about 10 different colognes and this was by far the best. I bought a bottle thinking it would be my secondary and i think it'll be my first. I've had no issues with performance. That said, I spray on my clothes, not my skin

Good afternoon Mrs Benson, I am Yohiness Preme from Atlanta and I just watched your review on the YSL fragrance. I just have to say great job and all the success to you. In my opinion this fragrance to me.. though it comes off as a casual, playful, go out and meet new people fragrance.. it's real agenda is for those cool down, 1 hour out of the shower, quiet moments with your favorite lady and or etc.. I say this because I have and do enjoy getting my share of compliments and added confidence every time apply it. im so glad you attractively stated this fragrance is lacking in performance! because it is, however.. I find that it is still adored by both the wearer and his victim. For this reason I have always found this fragrance to be the most appropriate tool when Im in need to be around and enjoy that special someone. Even if its only for a short period of time. I sprayed some on my wrist at a perfume store in the mall. I walked the mall for a hour and no longer smelled the fragrance. For almost $90 USD I would expect better performance with projection and longevity. Maybe the intense version will be better

Very good review! I love how it's simple and straight to the point. and editing is top notch! Subscribed. I have both original and 1st formulation bottles and I love them. I havent met single person that disliked the scent. With that being said, todays la nuit is not worth the money IMO. Can you please consider reviewing Tom Ford Noir Extreme? It is quickly becoming my new favorite cooler weather scent.

I have the reformulated version, but I did have a small decant of the vintage juice. To my nose, they are only SLIGHTLY different. The vintage version did however last ages on me (for some reason)... I'm talking Creed Aventus longevity.. they just don't want to leave my skin. The longevity for the reform is about 5 hours on my skin, so i'm cool with it.

I owned this fragrance(vintage) but I have a lot of fragrances(over 90) let alone a good amount of fragrances that are similar in this category of "Night out/pleasing fragrances" .Also I prefer Dior Homme Intense to this one so I can't say I see myself getting another bottle of this unless it ends up at a Ross or Marshalls for $25 especially now after the reform because it never really performed well on me. Great vid and thanks for the take.

I own this one for couple of weeks now, but I got 2.0oz 'le parfum' version and it lasts at least 5 hours. So, if you like this fragrance, I suggest you to buy parfum concentration and you won't have any issues with performance.

Yea, you're right Tiff. When I first bought this scent, I got the fragrance oil, and I was SO hurt when I found out how poorly the spray performs. It could be great for movie dates, or if you could get little travel sizes to carry around, but I probably won't buy it again unless I can find the roll-on; which is a shame, this use to be one of my all-time favorites. I haven't been this disappointed in a fragrance's performance since I had my heart broken by "The One".

Nice review,keep it up,quite right you are really,i just bought LA NUIT this summer,great smell i really like it,i ve got a lot of compliments wearing it from ladies,my girlfriend doesnt really like it though haha.Anyways for me it is one of the best smelling fragrances i own but also one of the worst perfoming ones,so thats a shame really since i personally really like it. @tiffbenson, I have the reformulation. I think you are spot on with the longevity. I work in a hospital. First time I wore it I was listening to a female patient's chest and when she smelled me her response was "DAMN you smell good!" It made me jump for a sec as I wasn't expecting a response. I also caught a nurse telling another nurse how good my jacket smelled.

love your approach to mens scents: elegant, to the point and very informative without the pointless drivel so common on wannabe scent reviewers with poor presence and monotone or alcohol being sipped and nonsense gabbing

I picked up some of this fragrance 20 minutes ago from Macys I spent $100 and some change it was between this fragrance and the Invictus which I am going to be getting some of that very soon and also the ultra male fragrance the door blue bottle

i have this, yes it doesnt last. but i guess since its a date night ideal fragrance might be a good intro signature fragrance.

I received a decanted sample of this scent and I have received compliments on it but as mentioned in this review it doesn't last long at all. I got about three hours, myself. Its a good fragrance for a simple get together or small party especially if you don't plan on staying there over a few hours. I would say keep it in your collection its still a good fragrance despite what I hear about its previous version being much more than it is now.

Rook. Spray it on your clothes it last a lot longer and smells 10x better

I have 2. 6.7oz bottles of 2010 batch which gives me 8-9 hours of longevity. Having said that, This fragrance is to be used for dates or a romantic night kinda vibes So current batch with 2-4 hours of performance can get the job done! (Like if you want it so badly and crucifying on longevity)

3 years off but just received a late 2017 batch, lasted on my skin for 8 hours and projected for a solid 1.5 hours, maybe it's my bottle but got no complaints from the performance

Great review. I have the vintage. And it lasts all day, with lasting scent. I also have the parfum edition. It is closer to the skin. Great for date night. Many compliments. Love ya 😎

Hi Tiff, i have the latest version released on September 2015 and god.. it lasts on my skin about 7 hours and the projection about 2-3 hours. I don't know why but it's very nice on me. Today i could buy a 2011 decant of 10 ml to try that versión, i'm so excited about that. I'll tell you my experience.. See you soon!

Hey, Tiff! I was just curious if you could do a review of the Le Parfum version of LA NUIT DE L"HOMME since u reviewed the EDT version. I hear the EDP version is completely different in the opening, but similar in the drydown. The EDP version sadly gets no recognition at all in the community.

I never tried the “original” formulation but with all the hype I gave the current one several tries, kept spraying it on in shops, bought a 5ml sample, nothing, it didn’t do anything for me and I’m a sucker for hype, not just performance wise, also the scent didn’t strike me as anything out of the ordinary.

It does last, I get about 10 hours longevity, performance still great... I bought it back then when it was a new release. I work in a hot environment, my coworkers think I reapply each break we take. Perhaps La nuite de l'homme likes my skin, much better performance then Bleu de Chanel, Sauvage, and ADG Profumo, but in the same level as ADG Absolu, Carlisle, and Layton.

Great review. I had a vintage bottle but I sold it earlier this year. The scent didn't really suit me. I didn't get the fresh bergamot that you mentioned in your review, in the opening of my vintage juice. That must've been added when they reformulated it. Haven't tried the current version. I love bergamot so I may like the new one more but it just wouldn't be worth buying it because of the abysmal performance. Too bad.
