This video is included as enhanced content on the extremely rare promo CD of La Toya's unreleased album "Startin' Over". I own the promo, and ripped this video straight from the disc. The quality isn't that good, but this is exactly the way it was on the disc.
In this mini documentary, it shows her recording many of the tracks from the album as well as giving insight into the writing process of some of the songs, and what they mean. The filming took place sometime from 2001-2003 during the recording of the album.

LaToya Jackson may not be a superstar recording artist like her sister Janet Jackson but she's still a talented girl. I got the iTunes EP version of "Starting Over" and it's great.

Actually heard the album today (for the first time🙄) and I was super impressed, it's surprisingly strong. A great mixture of pop, dance and rock. It's a shame it wasn't released, it's as good as everything Janet and Christina and Britney were doing around that same time.

Why the hell was this album not commercially released or promoted, it's her best work ever. I actually prefer this to the stuff Janet has been doing post 2000's and that's saying something as I'm a massive Janet fan. Just wanna dance could easily have cracked the billboard hot 100 and the U.K. Top 40 if it had been promoted with a music video and a promotional tour, appearances on GMA, talk shows etc She should sack her management team for underselling her massive talent and hardwork she clearly put into this album.

Mig D I'm so glad you agree, it really is a shame that this album got absolutely no recognition. A few songs had real hit potential. I'm thankful the promo copies were made at least so we can have the music in high quality.

Chase Gran I think her scandals put pple off but just wanna dance hit number 13 on the billboard dance chart, so a few pple were paying attention. A version of the EP is on iTunes. Some great tunes on there, I always crank them up for my gym workouts

Mig D Yup, La Toya has notoriously had some of the worst management in modern music history. So much wasted potential. But again, at least she made the music. Better than some other mismanaged artists who never finish their projects at all.

Sad that they didn’t release the album in 2003! I have a promo version from 2006 , beautifully packaged and the songs are fantastic! The EP does NOT do justice to what the full album is! Sadly it probably will never be officially released in full and she is probably done with all that, but I do hope Cherry Records will reissue this album in full one day! Her previous albums got great reissues on cd - Latoya and Bad Girl with great bonus tracks and remixes. Those were actually great albums along with this one!

This sounds like some shit that a cartoon character would make and sing in a movie. She can’t sing or dance. However, she keeps trying. If for nothing else, I admire her tenacity. It takes a real woman to keep releasing music that she knows is bull$hit and that no one (except for a few people) will buy.

OK on the real I know Latoyas history and I know some of the music she’s been making hasn’t been the best but I have to be honest those first three songs were pretty 🔥 🔥🔥 like they really weren’t that bad I know people like the bus on her and Stacy can’t see if she can dance in those first two songs I would definitely listen to that on my iPad.

@Phil Ad Agreed. I believe she's always been fucked over though. Bad business decisions, poor management, poor promotion with a combination of bad luck. It seemed the only time they really cared was during the "Heart Don't Lie" era. I believe they tried to push her hard but the public just wasn't feeling it. She did have a video to promote the album as well. It was well produced and had quite a few radio friendly tracks on it. "Private Joy" could have been a hit for her if it weren't for Joseph meddling and advising her not to release it as a single. Sadly "Imagination" was never promoted because the label went bankrupt or some crap like that. Then there was the album with Full Force. Again, I think they were trying hard teaming her up with the same people that made Lisa Lisa a success. Just didn't work. :( Unfortunately as we all know everything went downhill after that. From the zany talk show appearances, to the supermarket tabloid headlines on weekly basis and that no good husband of hers. Just sad. Ok so she didn't have the best voice in the world but neither does Janet or Paula Abdul but they were marketed and promoted properly.

I kinda feel bad for her and her brothers who never really made it. But her "heal the world" song and the others are sooo far from MJ or Janet songs. That's a fact.
