This video covers La-z-boy pitch adjustment and why it's often ineffective. As well as another solution for when you feet no longer reach the floor.
To properly remove and reattach the Rocker Springs to make the adjustment, see 'How to Install La-z-boy Rocker Springs.'

I just shopped for a la-z-boy recliner and it sat well in the showroom. But I asked for a swivel base to be installed. That some how some way caused the chair to pitch way forward. It was like it was helping you get out of the chair. Bought a different model alls good. Just taking.

Thank you. I was just checking to see if there was an adjustment so I could reach to rock my recliner. I thought just put a spacer in the spring to make it not tilt back as much. Well not I know my recliner has replacement parts. Thank you again

Great video. Any advice on how to adjust a swivel glider’s pitch. Just received our brand new gliders and the forward pitch makes it difficult to sit in the chair.

Thank you for your videos. They are very useful. I managed to adjust the back tension by following one of your videos and further learning about the sofa I recently bought using the others. I live in Dubai and lately decided to buy a single seater recliner from their representative here. When I went to the store I learned that they are closing the business and doing a clearance sale. There were no single seaters available and I had to buy a double seater. Specifically a Rowan (765) by La-Z-Boy Manual Rocker Loveseat with Console. It was a rushed decision. However, I'm not comfortable as I expected. Is it possible to dismantle the sofa and make a single seater out of it? I thought maybe if I can use the left armrest and attach it to the right seat and make a single seater. Is this possible? Regards, Bulent
@reclinerrepairguy4155
@reclinerrepairguy4155 8 месяцев назад
@BulentErdemir - Perhaps. Reclining loveseats & sofas are modular furniture that can be taken apart in sections. So, that part is easy. However, removing an arm & reattaching it to another section is custom work that requires someone with experience who can determine if it's feasible. And if so, the expertise to do the job properly.

I have recently bought a Greyson Power Rocking Recliner w/ Headrest & Lumbar here in New Zealand . After only a week the lumbar support which is electric stopped adjusting. The headrest adjustment and all others are fine. Do you have any videos that may address fixing this lumbar problem?

Oh my goodness, I have the opposite problem. I’ve just gone through a second recliner where when I sit in it it pitches too far forward. The front of the chair actually scrapes on the floor when I’m sitting in it. It’s not a lazy boy so I don’t even know if it can be adjusted. I’m so discouraged with buying recliners.

@laurenclark5734 - It sounds like you may buying chairs that do not fit you properly. To learn more, see this fit & function video -------> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FgegZ9qiuC4.html If you purchased the chair new, you should have warranty coverage if there's a problem. Report any problems to the seller (dealer). If there are any adjustments that can be made, they should be able to do that for you.

Just to be clear leave the springs in the same spot just move the position of the screws?
@reclinerrepairguy4155
@reclinerrepairguy4155 Месяц назад
@abusultaanington - Moving the springs forward, pitches the chair forward. Moving the springs back, pitches it back.

I have had an electric lazy boy recliner for about 4 years. It does NOT have the flap headrest. It does have a vibrating massager in the back of the chair. The headrest feels over filled and pushes my head uncomfortably forward. This headrest is not adjustable. Is there any way to reduce the fill? There's no obvious access to the headrest area.
@reclinerrepairguy4155
@reclinerrepairguy4155 8 месяцев назад
@c.reagansmith7171 - If your head was not pushed forward when the chair was new, here's what's happening: Over time the padding behind your shoulders & back has begun to flatten & recede. (The lumbar area may or may not be doing the same.) However, the headrest area padding has not compressed at the same rate, leaving it mostly intact, perhaps like new. So, your torso is moving further back in the chair, while your head is not. The end result is the feeling of your head being pushed forward. The fix here is to add padding to the torso area(s) that have flattened, to bring your back forward & once again align it with your head. But since you may have electrical components (massager) inside the back, you'll want to have an experienced La-z-boy repair tech do the repair. Or perhaps an upholsterer experienced with working on La-z-boy products.

I bought a used lazy boy lift chair and it worked perfectly for 8 months. Then when we were lifting or reclining the foot rest would clunk. It seems the metal arms on the footrest now hit the wood going and coming. Is there anything to be done about that?

@reclinerrepairguy4155 8 месяцев назад
@cdh2328 - There may be some discontinued styles out there still in use. I recommend finding an experienced La-z-boy repair tech to check it out. They'll be able to diagnose the problem & tell you whether replacement parts (if needed) are still available for your chair.

@@reclinerrepairguy4155 Hi. Thanks for responding. I think it’s from 2016. I was put in touch with lazyboy “approved” repair people but they wanted 80 bucks then to do an assessment. Probably more now. I wanted some idea of what could have happened but their English wasn’t good and I couldn’t get any where with them. I don’t want to put out the money only to find out it’ll cost hundreds to repair. I don’t understand why it would work fine for eight months then suddenly start doing that. I know lazyboy was supposed to be a good product but investing 2500.00 in something new wasn’t in the cards. Still I don’t want to throw away good money after bad. In other words I don’t want to be taken for a ride by these so called “approved” repair technicians.

Just received my new Lazy Boy and its pitch is way off from the chair I tested in the store 😢. Lazy Boy will not help 🤬. Can you please post a video that shows how to stop the rocking action completely?
@reclinerrepairguy4155
@reclinerrepairguy4155 2 месяца назад
@DonnaVanschijndel - Blocking the rocking action will not change the pitch of the chair. If you tried the same model/style chair at the store & your chair is not similar, that issue should be covered by warranty. You can take this matter to the manufacturer, if the dealer/seller will not help you. (It's the manufacturer who provides the warranty, the seller is the service agent.) 2 possible solutions in situations like this are: #1) The dealer can correct the pitch issue or, #2) the dealer can swap out your chair for the test chair you liked -- provided that chair has an acceptable cover type & color, or course.

I’m alil confused, I had them come out, because I wanted the chair to lean back more. I felt like the chair was leaning forward to much. They put the screws in the back position, which is the screws in the farthest position back(the screws are now in the slot closest to the back of the chair). Is that the correct position for the farthest pitch to “lean back” more? I feel like they should have used the slot closest to the front of the chair, but I’m not sure, can you clarify, is it set so it can lean back as far as possible?
@reclinerrepairguy4155
@reclinerrepairguy4155 2 месяца назад
@Jayski009 - I've moved them in the wrong direction myself, in the past. It happens. So, to make sure it's right, measure from the bottom of the footrest to the floor, before & after repositioning the springs. If the distance to the floor has increased slightly, the chair is pitched back more. If it's decreased, there's more forward pitch. I believe if the springs are moved forward from the neutral position (center hole), the chair will pitch forward slightly. That involves using the rear holes to mount the Rocker Springs. If you use the front holes, you're moving the springs toward the rear of the chair. This should move the footrest slightly further away from the floor. But again, you can measure to make sure you get the desired results.

@@reclinerrepairguy4155 hi, TY for the quick response. I had the warranty company come out and do this for me& I prefer not to do the process myself. I didn’t measure prior to the pitch adjustment, and I don’t want to keep taking the screws in & out, if I don’t have to, but I really want it done correctly, for farthest Back Pitch. I’ve read contrary accounts online, on which way to move the springs/screws in order for me to get the desired farthest back pitch I want. So, I don’t want to question you, and I didn’t know/want to tell the warranty adjuster his job& now I’m going to have to call them again & tell them they are wrong and have to come out again. So, I just wanted to make sure you are 100% sure of this& that it is, in fact, set the opposite I wanted it and now pitched leaning farthest forward with the screws in the back spot. You wrote “I believe”, so I just want to make sure. Ty so much for your help & videos.

@@Jayski009 - Sorry, I'm retired now, so I can't verify this for you. That's why I gave you a way to check it yourself. Also, you never mentioned whether the chair felt any different to you after the adjustment was made. This is the ultimate test of whether an adjustment has helped or not.
@Jayski009
@Jayski009 2 месяца назад
@@reclinerrepairguy4155 so, it didn’t make too much of a difference the adjustment, from the middle hole to the back hole. But, it definitely feels, to me, the same or a bit more pitch forward(I can’t say 100% tho). I watched a lot of your videos, and others online, so I understand, it’s not going to be a HUGE difference. But, I would still like to, at least, be at the farthest pitch back, even tho, it wont be a drastic difference. After the move to the back hole, (which now I understand is also the same thing as saying, moving the base backwards) the front measures 3inches from the ground. I will measure on the next move, and hopefully it will then be 4inches above the ground, when the screw is moved to the front hole. Tomorrow, I have to call the warranty company and tell them, they have done their job wrong & they have to come back. So, that is why I was trying to verify again, because it mite be quite awkward telling them they did wrong. I’m hoping there will be someone I can speak with that will verify, but who knows how they will act, having to come back again for the same problem. I think I’m correct now, in saying the front hole is farthest pitch back and the rear hole is pitch forward, but I was just hoping for a definite, because there are different accounts online depending where I look. Most of them seem to say tho, that what I just stated is correct…. Front hole pitch back, rear hole pitch forward, but once again I’m not 100%. Thanks again for any help.

@@Jayski009 - I would agree that if you felt the adjustment might have pitched you forward a bit more than before, that they moved it in the wrong direction. And by the way, the base doesn't move forward or back, just the Rocker Springs. Remember, they need to move all 6 mounting screws on each spring, including the 3 on the bottom of the spring mounted to the Rocker Blocks.
