Exactly, once the cult of personality kicks in, there is no more information to be found. Gallagher, uses this tactic whereby the question is deflected into rethoric and political point scoring, no one wants to answer the obvious question, and that is , sub par housing , built by companies whose sole purpose is to maintain the profit levels, not the actual implied mission of providing affordable housing, it's is riddled with holes. Yet the name calling and the blame gaming continues on, and everybody follows the chorus line," she's a bitch" no, she is good at what she does., the issue is buried and no real questions answered. That is how it is done, watch , listen and learn.
@@johnschroeder2046 are you effing kidding me? Those companies you speak of if they are super funds are basically millions of mum and dad people's super nest egg that needs to be invested to grow and fund their retirement. They are not charities. They need to make a return on their capital for the risk and cost they bear to provide the new affordable housing. what's wrong with that? Otherwise who in their right mind would go build and invest their hard earned money in providing housing for others if they can't get a decent return on investment?
@@bokidusanic7084 Andrew is asking why Super companies are donating to the CFMEU, how that equates to "Inflating the Housing Bubble" and "Weasel people out of their super" is idiotic. Don't bother with the "Racist" rant, I already know it is going to be said. Albo - 2 new jets at $450 million each, a large pay rise and been at more sporting events than he has parlimentary debates. @@em_d There is no need for name calling, which is ironic since you are criticising gallagher on her conduct. Explain to me how the Liberal agenda to allow aussies to withdraw their super to purchase a property when they are not is a position to save for a deposit, let alone repay the debt is logical or even moral. Funneling super money into housing will further inflate the housing bubble, a desperate measure to prop up an unsustainable model.
@@TheMightyAbsshe is supporting big supper funds subsidies to purchase/build homes that me and you can't buy/build at the price they can buy/build since you and me won't get the subsidies. Pretty simple really. Look at companies such as Black rock and Vanguard group, using other people's super to buy vast amounts of properties as they own the banks that are supposed to give you a loan - only difference, they can loan money at 2% less than you and so you can't compete buying properties they want to buy. They are allowed to use YOUR supper that you are not allowed to use to buy.

Exactly and i suspect by the time we get our super we will be 80 and the government will have transferred as much as possible to their donors in the financial sector
I can confirm they are the ones driving it and whilst it sounds clique, the vertically integrated decision making structure leads to the WEF. Follow the leaders of peak industry bodies, super funds, and banks and you will see this to be true. It’s not like they don’t tell you: “you will own nothing and be happy”. This includes housing.
They will pile in and take it over from the Inside, and then either Deny low income people a home, or will somehow charge them more that is required. There is ONLY 2 things they like, Money and Power.
@@notsure1135 all I'm asking is for you guys to stop behaving like it's a popularity contest and grow up. These are serious issues being debated and she is actually doing something about housing unlike the previous liberal govt which caused building costs to skyrocket with homebuilder and untold numbers of builders to go broke because they were on fixed price contracts.
@@TheMightyAbs You say she is doing something yet in 2 years of Government not a single house has been built by this body and they are still in the tendering process of providers/financiers after more than 1 Billion dollars of taxpayer funds have been spent. Where has this money gone? On bureaucrats, offices, forms, phone calls, mailouts, advertising, office equipment etc. Yet NO new housing built let alone sold and housing anyone. Just like Tanya Plibersek when in office and housing minister from 2007 to 2013 promised 250,000 low income houses before the election in 2007 and again during the election campaign of 2010/2013. Yet when Labor lost in 2013 not ONE single house was built but several billions were spent. And now Big Corporates are being given HUGE tax breaks if they invest in social housing which will squeeze small to medium builders OUT of that market. You just do not get it do you my friend. Tell me the last time a monopoly did anything good for the average person especially in an area as open to exploitation such as the low income housing sector financed by Government and their mates in super funds. Just mark my words when the next election comes around and Labor after 3 years has NOT built a single low income house but will promise X number will be built during their next term should they retain office. They have form as that is what Tanya promised in 2007, 2010 and 2013 election campaigns and built NOTHING, ZERO, ZIP, NONE, NADA and here we are 2 years in and Labor has again built ZERO low income houses but promised 600+K will be built over the next X number of years. Let me ask you how many DA's have they finalised to even develop land let alone build houses on that land? Have they announced where these houses will be built in each state/Territory or are they just pipedreams people like you get impressed by?
Would these be the same quislings who also served under the liberals the whole time they were in power? Because of course all these problems are just the fault of the recent labour government and not the previous liberal government at all? There are 5 valuations here. 1 Australian's must never own a home. 2 Australian's Will never own a home. 3 screw any Australian's owing a home. 4 Make sure we never help Australian's own a home. 5 Help all foreigners, except Australian's own a home.
Both sides do it. To truly get leaders that represent the will of the people, they need to pass laws that illegalise campaign funding and political donations from private sources. This is currently being proposed in South Australia, but I doubt it will happen.
Yeah and no one knows how bad it really is due to the media bubble they live in.. WORLD WIDE Australia has 3 cities in the top ten in Homelessness.. truly sad and not being told to the citizens.

No - your superannuation is paying for these things. Let me explain. Your superannuation is held by these companies. These companies use YOUR money to buy housing. This pushes the price up for housing as they will often pay above market to secure sales. As a result you can not afford to purchase a home. Your money is locked up and you can not access it. But a company is now using YOUR money to purchase homes and at the same time pricing you out of the market. The Government then gives these companies tax breaks to make this process even easier. . I want to know who is getting paid off for this BS...
Having a corporation monopoly on housing ownership doesn’t provide “affordable housing” it provides the opportunity for price gouging. Labor is facilitating the rise in rents and house prices to the point that most Australians will be living in tents.

I see a government that is not interested in helping Australian citizens. I see a government that has sold out Australia and it's resources. This is the problem, as a politician i expect you to work for the Australian citizens and to help Australia. Yes, as a government that is your job. Obviously you cannot do your job because of the two party system and your inability to put Australia and it's citizens first. Lets make a law that unless you are an Australian citizen you can not own land in Australia. Works in many countries. Politicians are scum, only interested in lining their own pockets.

No Corporate housing. Private institution should NOT, NOT own housing. The government is the only institution to own housing. And NOT foreigners of any type.
neither party wants aussies owning homes... none of them are lobbying to get rid of negative gearing and imposing limit on commercial and residential real estate per person and banning corporations as well as foreign nationals from owning properties. if australians are limited to own 1 residential and 1 commercial property get rid of any potential loop hole. no tax incentives to keep an additional property but penalties. then problem solved no more shortage. if you start taxing big natural resource corpos even better. we export more than qatar but somehow our economy's a mess

All govt would have to do is stand aside and people would build more houses....so they limit the amount that can be built, then print up a fuck tonne of money to hand over to their billionaire mates to build more in years to come. 🤦♂️ amazing that nobody can see the problem with having to beg govt for permission to build a house on land you apparently own.
Anecdote - A builder told us that 25% of the cost of building a house (QLD) is government charges/taxes (including local government) - disgraceful, under the current circumstances.
We need policy that strongly supports first home buyers and dissuades investment in property by things like funds. Otherwise Blackrock and Vanguard will own half the bloody country and we’ll be wage slaves forever

Australians are missing the point, its seems, when I look at the comments. If institutions build or own houses. This creates more rentals, not more home owners. This means higher pricing for houses in the long run and more money to the rich. He is 100% right the average Australian needs those subsidies, not massive greedy institutions, whom are already wealthy and whose major share holders already own huge houses.
Katy, attaches rubbish to the bills, that no moderate centre right person could support, so her attack on blocking expencive rubbish is and supply to unions is mute.
By the way, "Funneling super $ into housing will further inflate the housing bubble" is a clear admission that this Labor parties policies have CREATED A HOUSING MESS.
The comments here calling Gallagher rude and nasty miss the whole point that Australia’s young people are locked out of housing unless they have rich parents. Who gives a sh$t if someone’s nasty. Give me someone nasty who has the courage to tell Australians the truth about our housing Ponzi scheme. When houses prices have risen at more than three times that of wages and governments spend $20 Billion annually subsidising people buying their first, second, third … investment home what did we think would happen? Stop subsidising the wealthy and start letting first home buyers write off the interest on their mortgages against their income. Neither of the two major parties have an interest in seeing housing become more affordable - they are conflicted by their own housing investments.
