@@bombintheseeinq maybe cause they're both very story oriented games? I feel like someone who plays fps games wouldn't enjoy it too much, but someone who plays something like undertale would.
@@fireking0531 The story in Hollow Knight is much more cryptic than Undertale though, tbh by the end of my first playthrough I didn't even know there was any story :P
I'm genuinely curious how far they can get with all of this in the lore...well they created vampires that perfectly fit, so I don't think they would fail
It got rated. They don't rate games about to be scrapped. They typically only submit to ESRB when the majority of the game content is developed. It's GOTTA be close. (keep in mind I've been saying "it's GOTTA be close" since 2019. 🤦😭
@@Staeriss many indie teams allow people to use their music just not in other games, movies, etc. You're allowed to use this as background music in a video because they choose to let you, but they will take it down if you completely steal it. This is true for silksong, hollow knight, undertale, rain world, pretty much every popular indie game has mostly free music
Thought you might want to know, this WAS actually randomly in my recommended. Never played or even heard of Hollow Knight before, but I kept listening to more and more OSTs from the game, and now I am really interesting in playing this game purely because of the music and the snippets of artwork I've seen. (I've never even played a 2-D kind of platformer game before in my life, and this might honestly be the first for me.)
@@ariannawinslow6415 That's great! Just going to say, no matter what the others may say, it's hardddddddd Especially if it's your first. But good luck!
@@ariannawinslow6415 Do it! It's a fantastic game! The soundtrack is obviously great, as is nearly everything else about the game. This was my first game in this genre and it quickly became my absolute favourite game, so I'd 1000% recommend playing through it
I was on a zoom call with my grandma and we were listening to violin songs that we liked together. I suggested we listen to this one and after a minute I said "we can stop if you want" because she looked kinda bored but she said "no it's beautiful, it's amazing" and then she switched to the video where you can see them playing and watched the whole thing again. If my grandmother, who doesn't play video games past candy crush, loves this music, then it's going to be an amazing game.
@@jimbob7572 but tell me, do they gain anything from the comment in the first place, no. In fact it’s better to do so since it’ll get spread more and people will enjoy the comment more
You hear that? That's a real orchestra, something original Hollow knight could never afford. It was all made using electronics. Silksong is going to be beyond fucking fantastic.
I’m so happy for all of this. Team Cherry gathered only around 60k during Kickstarter’s Hollow Knight campaign. Still, they made a whole amazing fcng game with even more content than promised, despite not reaching certain stretch goals (like the Colosseum of Fools). Then, they released FREE fcng DLCs. And now they have money to hire actual performers for the sequel’s soundtrack. I’m so happy that their dedication and goodwill are paying off. I’m buying this game and the soundtrack day one.
The violist of this track was also the only live instrument in hollow knight ost. The other live performance was the vocal in city of tears. I imagine Larkin could have done the piano work live, too.
And you know what? Even the OG hollow knight OST was so good that I didn't even know it was all electronic before I read about it. If that Game's soundtrack was already a 10/10 for me, then silksong would just fucking annihilate me.
A previous aspect before unconsidered, and accurate at that. A great assessment sir. It makes me ponder on what the story has to offer and the deeper meanings behind Lace, and everything related.
"Hey dad, is it weird that I'm 16 and I still believe in Santa?" "No son, I'm 38, and I still believe in Silksong" Edit: We got gameplay, but still no release date. But that's fine, it's great to know Team Cherry is still alive
Honestly thought every 2nd game of a Great first game will be a dissapointment, slept everynight afraid of a downer from team cherry, this came out and i must say im relieved of that nightmare
Something about this song exudes rage and determination. Where most of HK's ost felt slow and tragic, I'm hoping that silksong maintains similar vibes as this, angry and fierce.
I'm definitely thinking that instead of Hallownest being a dead Kingdom, Pharloom will be a ailing, desecrated one raging, angry with the slow and steady roll towards death and destruction.
Based on the E3 trailer, I’m guessing that this kingdom will be more alive than the other, and I don’t think that it will have “fallen” (so I don’t think that Grimm will be there, sadly). I’m not very good at looking at lore and stuff like that, so my opinion may be flawed. I’m hoping for more of a fierce vibe too.
After yesterday's news of Silksong being delayed, not releasing on that Xbox promise of "all the games shown here will release within 12 months", i just felt like coming back here and blast this to my ears for hours to help me cope with the fact that i wont see this game in a while....at best..half a year, at worst?.....who knows...maybe 1 more year....or 2....or 3.... *Turns volume up*
Sounds like Silksong is going to get great soundtrack like the first game or even greater. Can't wait to hear it 50+ times in game after being killed by Lace.
Now that's only a year left, we can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that if you listen to this 189 976 times, by the time you end Silksong must be already out. So, y'know, I will do it myself!
I love when devs decide to post some music before the game releases. It allows the hype to increase even more. Monolith Soft is doing that for Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition too.
i'm thinking the knight would make more sense but man do i hope they bring silksong music bc its ost is shaping up to be even better than the 1st game's
@@elspooples41 bc they're the protag of the original game and already have a clearly defined moveset that would fit into smash really well it would be like putting meta knight or something in before kirby
@@blebbles0 Hornet has a lot more moves though and even already has taunts plus she is literally getting her own game so even more possibilities for moves
I feel my soul rotting, mind decaying, and bones withering every day I wait for silksong. Soon I will be nothing but a pile of skin lying on the floor, and this will be playing on loop into the ears of the body. It's all we Silksong fans have left. February is hitting
@@theroboman727 actually, I think they've said that once again, ideas for gameplay, places, bosses etc comes first and they add lore after. Which is heartwrenching for a lorefan like me but yea
@@meistr Nah it's a real string quartet. Team Cherry got budget now. In the description it says: "Featured Soloists: Violin: Lachlan Bramble Violin: Emma Perkins Viola: Linda Garrett Cello: Gemma Phillips"
That is one of the smoothest and most seamless uses of an odd time signature (5/4 and, in some sections, 3/4) in video game music. I'm sure many people didn't notice there was something strange in the tempo, and that's the beauty of it. Edit: Jack Steer, you're right I didn't notice that! It switches to 3/4 in some sections, so I'm editing my comment to insert that
Jack Steer our boy chris has a lot of aces up his sleeve when it comes to write scores. mu favorite example is his implementation of leitmotifs. look at the dirtmouth theme for example. if we exclude the crossroads, this theme is present in all the major beginning zones of the game (dirtmouth, greenpath, fungal wastes, and even a slight hint in the city of tears), and the more you delve deeper into the kingdom, the more it adapts to the area. in fact, while it is very obvious in greenpath's score, where we can almost hear the full theme, it becomes less obvious in the wastes, where only the first three notes are fully recognisable, and if we progress all the way to the capital, we can hear a very very subtle hint of it, as the two scores share the first note. the other major example of leitmotifs is, obviously, the hollow knight theme. I'm not gonna talk much about that, since it has been covered in an almost endless series of videos, but I wanna mention a really cool detail that I noticed while playing: the hollow knight's theme, which is, by extension, a theme for all the vessels is present in the score for the resting grounds, a place made to honor the dead, as if almost to symbolize that no vessel is actually truly alive, as it has been hollowed out by the void. See, it's those little musical details that make me want to come back and revisit the game from time to time, just to experience how much they add to the game, and how they make it perfect. And if christofer keeps up the good work, _this new game is gonna be amazing_
It's been 5 years since it was announced, the community is starting to become insane, but this banger of a song is still the only thing keeping me alive
How is it that you've managed to make something so similar to hollow knight in all the right ways, yet also distinctly different in all the right ways?
Doesn't sound too different from some themes in hollow knight like the hornet theme if you ask me, aside from the fact that is a different track. I think this could perfectly fit in HK, no idea what you are talking about.
@@asgoritolinasgoritolino7708 I disagree. like hornets theme (but unlike almost anything else in the game), this track has a lot of strings. if you look at HKs soundtrack, it's much more dark and gloomy (fitting the game perfectly), but in Pharloom - the new land the game will take place in - are much more vibrant regions. if you just take look at the trailer youcan see the place is much more alive - and you can totally hear that here compared to the HK soundtrack.
Christopher Larkin is the type of guy who you can give a tennis ball, a schoolbag and a tampon, and he will create the most beautiful music you've ever heard
@@KhoiV fkin hell stop ruining convo series by putting the stupid "bruh" it doesnt add anything Something along the lines of this would have been much better, "No, it was a masterpiece when they thought of making it"
Something’s gonna happen in February, I feel it in my bones, my gut, my heart, and other organs. Edit: I may have been just a bit off Edit again: GODAMMIT
Possibly less. It said “in the next 12 months,” meaning that it could theoretically release tomorrow. But my best guess is either Sep 2022, Dec 2022, or Mar/Apr 2023, with the first two being the most likely. June 2023 is the latest it could release if Xbox’s info is correct.
Lace and Hornet, who are both characters who use strings, have a fight theme composed with ONLY the string instruments that are strummed using strings. Truly poetic.
@@eeveeextreme Not really, it's neither truly a string or percussion instrument since it uses strings to create sound but uses them in a percussive way. It even sounds like a weird mix of string and percussion (at least to me.)
Yes, i also love when it's not always just 8/8 or 6/8. Have you noticed the wierd rhythm that starts on 00:15? I'm not shure, I think it switches exactly like this: 8/8 - 6/8 - 10/8 - 8/8 - 6/8 - 10/8 - 6/8. I love that part 😅
@@vornamenachname3476 Actually I believe that's just 3/4 since you can count it in 3 :) I'm not 100% sure but I think 5/4 and 3/4 are the only two time signatures used, the only reason I'm not sure is 1:13 might actually be 6/4 due its structure, but two measures of 3/4 could also technically work albeit might read a little sloppy
Ari: "So, this game is string themed." Christopher Larkin: *"...and I took that personally"* Edit: Replies have an average IQ level below 2 digit numbers, don't go there.
