I love how Tyler is like "Honey. Sweetie. Sugarsnaps." when she sees that blue dress. Also the way that Christmas tree looks in the room is super cute!
@@TylerWillis nope but it will keep you warm, and you can use it to make acessories out of metal doing forging, or hot working to make decorations if you are doing a steampunk or gothic theme lolita or maybe aristocratic, coal is also good for running steam engines thats why we historical railroaders and steam loving historians are as ornery and naughty as we can be heh got to have coal and lots of it to run the steam engine heh. jk
I’d be willing to bet that “friend” probably has a buying problem too. She complained because flaunting her purchases in front of other people is just as big a high as buying the item itself. Don’t let anyone use you to make themselves feel better by having something you don’t.
walmart builds their stores on sacred burial grounds and destroys local small businesses, so it is not fantastic; no shade meant, just wanna put it out there
This might be a hot take, but: Friendships aren't always forever. This isn't a bad thing! Snowball, you can cherish the times you had with your friend that were good and accept that maybe it's time to let the friendship drift apart if you just aren't compatible any more. I have a feeling you two probably got on very well when you were both spend happy. Now you're not but they are. Y'all just might not have the common ground you once did. That said, from the wording of the email... I worry that in Snowball's case the issue isn't the friend dm-ing them about their newest purchase but just that Snowball is seeing said purchases while scrolling bookface/the bird app. In which case Friend isn't entirely out of line to be a smidge taken aback. If they are texting/dm-ing/calling you then yes, set boundaries and if they don't respect them then drop them. However, Snowball, if your issue is with them posting on their general social media about things they've bought... Then you're going about things wrong. If it's bookface, either unfollow their posts or ask that they do a custom audience when they show off their purchases (you can set posts to be friends except people you specify). The custom audience thing can be a pain to regularly do but a good friend would likely be ok with that. If it's twitter... I hate to say it but the only option really would be to unfollow them. Discord, if it's in a group server, y'all could set up a channel for showing off new purchases and then you could mute it permanently. I just got a weird vibe from the email that makes it feel like things aren't as clear cut.
Yeah, I thought of that too. But there's a lot of things Snowball could do to help their friend if it's about social media posts. Custom audiences on FB, or on Tumblr or Twitter they could always tag posts about purchases so that Snowball can mute the tags. (Tumblr you might have to use an extension, but I think Twitter can do it natively?) Could be a communication breakdown of some sort, but if Snowball's friend is a good friend once stuff is cleared up they really should do their best to not trigger their friend's mental health issues.
I forgot you can block hashtags/words on Twitter! But yeah, either way, if it's general social media I hope Snowball will approach their friend with suggestions of work arounds and that their friend is amenable. If either party isn't willing to do that work then honestly it's better for them both to let the friendship dissolve.
I'm glad you made this because it's proof that you can buy affordable lolita, so many people say it's too expensive and now you've shown them how to start ❤️
There are so many options that I couldn't even get into! (like Taobao brands, but that takes some knowhow on which ones are good) Lolita is so much more affordable and diverse in options than it was a decade ago!
I go for mostly taobao brands, like Dear Celine and Infanta. I do admit though, my first ever JSK from infanta did have one bit of thread sticking out. Other than that, the quality is there and it feels okay wearing it and looks nice. I prefer OP's though, as blouses are difficult for me to get, because of my weird shoulders and measurements, as well as too many layers irritate my skin. xD I personally recommend Bodyline, Dear Celine, Strawberry Witch and Diamond Honey. But it depends on your style, like for Gothic or a fantasy-esque lolita, I think Krad Lanrete is a good indie brand. :D Good luck and safe, happy shopping!
The mice were potentially inside the ceiling/walls and not directly upstairs and that's why they could be heard. My family lives in an old farmhouse that has a somewhat hollow construction (mum told me the ceilings are filled with straw...??), and you could hear them tapping around in there at night sometimes. It's a surprisingly loud sound. BUT even under those circumstances, we barely ever saw a mouse be actually inside the rooms, and with 10+ cats you bet if one ever did show up, it was hard to miss the calamity that went down. So yeah, maybe not quite as many mice, but bold ass mice for sure.
Jesus! IN THE CEILING?!?!?! No. Nope. Not even going to think on the possibility of having a mouse fall out of a vent directly onto someone's head; it will give me nightmares for a week, thank you.
@@TylerWillis As someone who's house is about 300 years old, yeah, old ceilings are filled with straw (at least in europe, as far as I know), and rodents can live in there - however, you do not have to worry about things falling out of vents, because if your house is this old, there is no way in hell it will have vents
My first dress is stuck in China until something changes with the virus. Ultimate goal- study and buy accessories on Lacemarket in the mean time so i never get a lecture from Tyler
All my fracking sympathies, because waiting for a new dress sucks!! Wishing you a fantastic collection of accessories to match by the time your dress arrives!
I had bought my first dress right before quarantine, like 3 weeks prior. I didnt get it until almost june and only because I emailed them asking about my dress and literally two days later I received it. So idk if you haven't, email them lol
What melts my heart beyond magma is that Tyler choose to direct other lolitas towards buying petticoats from 'Cream and Sugar' as an option, as a Lovely Lor follower I just can't-freaking eat my heart that's so pure, sweet and supportive someone stab me with a lace parasol plz. But also leave my baby rats out of the mouse discussion!
Yess, ratties are cute. Pet mice and rats are adorable and lovely, just the wild ones can be frightening. But I love pet rats and mice and I would of course, even treat wild ones with humanity and repel them in a very humane way or make their death very quick and painless, because I don't like seeing any living being tortured or suffering; I can't bear it. Now, on to pet rats; They're good little chonks.
Oh my gosh that's the Bodyline Cinderella Bunny JSK I bought! aha it's so pretty, definitely agree about the price point for Bodyline. we must protect and help Babylitas. it is a cute dress. On the topic of mice, they can be smelly and there's always more than one. I'm suprised they didn't notice straight away honestly because MICE DO NOT SHUT UP!! We had mice at my parents for quite a while and I couldn't sleep for the amount of squeaking honestly. Also hard agree on the last one, friends need to hold each other accountable and stay true, and listen if someone is asking you not to talk about something.
@@TylerWillis I will absolutely be showing off my co ord once I have it sorted 💗 it really is a pretty JSK and the price with shipping was so good for coming from the states! (I live in Scotland)
Also, not a hot take: I was going to say enjoy your xmas deco, get your serotonin however you can during the rona-plague BUT THEN YOU HAD TO INSULT THE PUMPKIN PIE. D:< Leave us pumpkin lovers alone, and let us enjoy our day of feasting and being thankful for my friends.
For the first person, I live in north utah, logan specifically. There's a small comm in salt lake and another in boise. I lived in the middle of nowhere idaho when I was first into the fashion and too young to drive, so I never was involved in a comm.
I'm actually part of the utah comm (small world 😄) and we've been doing a lot online lately, as well as (pre-quarantine) craft nights that are north of slc, though not logan.... you should totally join! It's a great group! 💕
@@virginiacaynak1141 Oh hey, even more small world! I attended a couple meets with the SLC Lolita group before I moved to the east coast, but since then I've sold my JSKs. But maybe after I move back to Utah and after I can get a skirt of JSK to join an online meet!
Im trying to interact myself with the Salt Lake comm too :O I live in the South Ogden area. I didn't expect to see a handful of you guys in here lmao, I posted something in the comm FB group about a month ago(??) riding a horse. I didn't know there used to be crafting nights /sob
Listen. My best friend and I shop. A LOT. But when we say don’t let me buy more _______ we hold each other accountable. I’m disgusted by that person’s behavior. As for Airbnb? Good luck. I had a friend who was basically trapped in Cuba and they still tried to avoid paying for the hotel and refunding them. It wasn’t until they threatened to get a lawyer and call news stations that they got anywhere. Babylita please use lace market or devil inspired or the like. I cringed at the (very nice) Easter dress. Also study up on silhouettes. Non Lolita dresses can work but they have to be the right shape. Good luck!
I don't mind the Christmas tree there since I felt that this side of the room was quite empty (even with the tea set). It fills the space really well now and brings the room together ♥
We have a bird feeder outside and rats and mice come and eat the bird seed inside which is really annoying. And one night when my mom brought the bird feeder inside to refill it we found a mouse inside, my mom screamed so loud XD. It was so funny lol
Man I feel the lolita deadzone. I tried for the first few months of me getting into the fashion to find a local comm but evidently Omaha just...doesn't have one. I was really surprised since we host the NE anime convention.
Three very different stories there - the babylita in need of researching the fashion more (and where better than to start off on Lacemarket where she can buy cheap, genuine second hand dresses - and at the same time, open up a new tab and search for the name of any prints she sees on LM she likes so she can see examples of what it looks like as part of a full coord [thereby also getting a feel for the other elements of a coord - blouse, socks, shoes, hair accessories, jewellery]), the mouse hotel (you can bet they're not paying for their stay at that Airbnb!) and associated rant (adding Arkansas to the list of States insulted, while cat-operated machine guns may be ever-so-slightly overkill given the amount of collateral damage that would ensue), and the "friend" who won't listen to advice - yes, of course they're going to be excited about their new purchases and want to broadcast their excitement to the entire world, but a true friend would resist the temptation for a friend who was uncomfortable with being the recipient of sharing - in Snowball's case due to addiction, but a similar scenario could also apply if she instead had a limited income so would deadly love the dresses but couldn't afford a single one (and some people may be living hand-to-mouth, so even a Lacemarket dress would be an unnecessary extravagance). As for starting to put up your Christmas decorations now, I've already seen a few houses in my local area with Christmas lights in the windows, while the town centre for my suburb of Birmingham have already turned on their municipal lights (before acquiring the municipal tree!), so you're not alone! In the New Year, if you're still comfortable presenting ITT from your bed, continue to do so - alternatively, use the LWLN set but just swap out the backdrop, so you can achieve a different look with minimal effort.
I am SO HYPED to see towns putting up decor early!!! They started reeeeally early for Halloween out here, so I was HOPING that Christmas decorations would go up in a similar fashion!
How to be a good friend is something they should teach thought-out school not just in kindy/pre school. It worries me so much that people don't seem to know how to be a decent friend anymore.
I am personally too large to fit most brand lolita but as someone who sews I'm so tempted to start making myself some jsk's for myself because looking at lacemarket has sparked my love of the style again. I do historical costuming and the idea of mixing the two sounds like such a fun challenge, like mixing a chemise a la reine into a country lolita look would be such a fun play on the usual rococo types of historical inspired lolita~
blueshokku omg lol I was in a villa in Spain and I thought there was a ghost in the house bcz I was in bed and the door opened and then I closed it and heard footsteps. I was soooo scared bcz my Fitbit watch turned off completely so I slept in a room with my friend. Woke up the next morning my earphones and charger went missing I looked everywhere for it and COULD NOT FIND IT. Friends thought I was batshit crazy. Then 2 days later found the VARMIN in the kitchen and found my stuff chewed up completely. We got the mouse out safe and sound but made sure to lock the doors at night and when we went out.
It didn't even occur to me that you had decorated "early" as I watched this video in the glow of my blinking Christmas lights. :D December just isn't long enough, especially when putting up the decorations takes me a week already.
After Nov 15 is fair game to start decorating, in my opinion. I live in Australia, so we have to get the Christmas deco going early to combat the overwhelming heat of summer 😂
Oh wow the advice on friendships hit me incredibly hard 😭 coz it reminded me how I had to cut a friendship lately all coz my friend other half bullied me and he wouldn't sort it out. 9 years of friendship means shizz... And I rather have friends who support me and make me smile than anyone who makes me feel like SHIT. I had to get therapy due to what his partner did. I was in brink of deep depression that well let's say dark shizz.... I'm feeling better now of course. Oh love ya vids 💕 the tree is frigging CUTE!!
unrelated but please tell me uve seen kumyas christmas market by baby its so gorgeous 😫 ok back to the video, youve been killing it with new content! ♥️
Tyler I have to say that ebay actually isn't a bad place to get lolita as long as you know what you're doing. I got an entire set of Toy Harmony (JSK, OTK, Headbow) and it wasn't replicated. Often using more "normalised" sites like that allow people to find a larger amount available in their own country because often when I go onto Lacemarket, the vast majority of dresses are from Asia or America and ebay is a good go-to to find clothes in the UK.
I've gotten stuff from Lacemarket, Ebay, Depop and Mercari so far and I've got my eyes open on the Japanese auction sites to help me build a wardrobe without going broke in the process!!
The mouse story is so disturbing to me. I've lived a lot of places that could easily have been mouse central, including a repurposed barn and not once have I heard mice. Seen one or two? Yeah sure, but that's when you do a deep clean, set traps and generally do everything in your power to make those little jerks feel unwelcome.
Hello there! If lacemarket is not working for your ouji needs, try these also: glitzywonderland (reseller) clobbaonline (reseller, VERY reputable I've used them multiple times) devilinspired (also a reseller) wunderwelt.jp (Both new and secondhand brand items, Japanese and English website) closetchild (similar to lacemarket, international secondhand shop) kanekoshop (russian brand) ikemenmode.com (American ouji brand, but currently on hiatus) kanekoshop Fanplusfriend RoseRoyaleDesigns (etsy shop) Bodyline occasionally has a couple of ouji sets Depop is a secondhand site with mostly mainstream clothes, however they sometimes have ouji and lolita pieces And finally a comprehensive list of brands that feature ouji and boystyle pieces: buttcape.blogspot.com/2016/03/an-ouji-overview-part-3-where-to-buy-v2.html
I would get indignant about the comment that people in Arkansas bonk their cousins, but... I live in Arkansas and I literally have a 1st cousin who married one of our 2nd cousins........ As for your holiday decor, don't worry about being early, especially since you love Christmas so much. My town puts up a huge tree in downtown every year now, and I saw them constructing it during the last week of October. My retail job started playing Christmas music the first week of November. So for me, though it's against my will, it's already been Christmas season for a strong 2.5 weeks.
3 things: #1--the year TwentyTwenty sucks dead bear fat in August, if putting up your Yule lighting, etc. in November allows you to find a scrap of joy, go for it! #2--Can confirm, mice are gross. Got a new job in a hick town, moved into a farmhouse, there were mouse turds EVERYWHERE. First day on the job, my bestie/co-worker heard about my disgusting plight and said "There's somebody giving away free kittens down the road, let's go!" Kitten was named Pest Control, aka Tsarmina the Slayer, Destroyer of All Rodents, problem solved! #3--Encouraging me to visit Lacemarket is probably dangerous.
Such wonderful advice! Honestly real friendship can be gritty. You don't always agree on certain things but if you can meet each other halfway oh, that's a real friendship! I don't think it's too much to ask that someone do a little thing like that.
Right? She asked for such a small, teensy, little thing from her friend, something that actually subtracts effort on the friend's part, and we're fielding complaints about this?!?!?!?
@@TylerWillis that really bothers me! It's not hard. I just think that some people have the emotional empathy of a teaspoon. Maybe in this girl's case less. How could you not want to be kind or help your friends who might be struggling?
Know nothing about Lolita, but like how Tyler doesn't hesitate to lay down the Lolita law, but is willing to send her in the right direction. Sometimes a firm voice is the most compassionate.
Ratatouille's Remy watching this having an identity crisis like... 'but I thought I was a Rat?' x'D Tbh maybe it was rats? Cause one rat can make a HECK ton of noise on its own? Beleive me, I had them as pets and I know far too well... Anyhow. This was, as usual, highly entertaining and much needed. Thanks, Tyler.
I'm still clinging to spooky season for dear life but, 100%, your excitement for Christmas brings me joy and is so wholesome. Also, any excuse to see the bedroom "set" is perfectly fine.
I put up my tree super early in this room because I just need it this year. SO excited for the house tour. I aspire to a full decorated house done day, but for now, I love my lil 3 foot tree.
XD Christmas tree!!!!! Thanks, my Thanksgiving just got Covid-cancelled. You have inspired me! I will spend my lonely Thanksgiving decorating for Christmas! I will do snowflakes and ornaments and garlands and tinsel and Everything!
Well, there's a few legit people who make Lolita JSKs on ebay - Dollbe, for example. But yeah. For starters if you can FIT stuff that's on LM, sure try there first. (the chat about LM sellers that don't give all the details about sizing in their entries is another conversation ENTIRELY. Some of the stuff in Plus Sized is....NOT. Just saying.) And on behalf of us Arkansans, HEY! Have you now come for us TWICE? You already did it once during Frock Talk, no fair!
Just before my parents upped sticks and literally moved to the sticks (interior of BC), they suddenly had a mouse in the house we grew up in. Bc we saw it, scrambling across the floor when the light was switched on. We never had a problem before (tho tbf it was bc my dog was a mouser lol) but they somehow managed to get rid of them before it became more than one or two. Tho that leads to our funny little story. We had a house in a little town in the east Midlands in the UK. We also had a rabbit and a Guinea Pig in the back garden. One day, hubby comes to me and says "there's a mouse eating Bunny and JB's food." I go to have a look, only to see THE biggest rat I have ever seen, poking its paws through the wire of the enclosure, bold as brass, stealing their food. I turned to hubby and said dude, sorry to have to break it to you, but that? Is not a mouse. That is a rat. Well. All hell broke loose. He went nuts. I was like wtf? But what had me dying was our neighbour, big, buff, ex-military neighbour, coming to our door with a pack of rat poison which he timidly shoved at me and asked me to pls get rid of the rats in the communal sheds. Then ran off. Maybe there's sth wrong with me, but I still think it's hilarious 20 years later. We weren't informed that the area had a rat infestation when we bought the house. *sighs* (and a bee hive in our chimney, which we found out the hard way after they came down it and into the house. I'm allergic, so it was not fun during the 3 days it took the council to deal with them. As they're protected in the UK, we couldn't just do it ourselves, even if we wanted to.)
My mum always puts theirs up on the first of Dec and takes it down on the 31st, saying Christmas is only once a year. Makes sense to me. But hubby has issues with holidays (and religion in general) so we don't often get to decorate, let alone celebrate. 😕
I'm a halloween kinda gal. I like spooky and dark, but christmas decorations are definitely beautiful and fun. I personally leave decorations up, because I'm too lazy to take them down and they add character to the place being there.
I had an inkling that this was not a set and an actual bedroom, but i wasn’t sure. It’s really very lovely and I love the tree. I also have a bedroom/office whatever room and it’s like 10 x 10 and if I made videos I sure as hell wouldn’t move shit around. What a pain. I don’t blame you at all. I like seeing the bedroom as a backdrop for videos it’s extra cute. All advice was spot on so I have nothing to add.
For Butterscotch: I joined my local comm about a year ago and I actually found their facebook group through a master list on live journal! Its probably quite outdated so I don't know if it will help but if you google Lolita fashion comms it should be in the top few entries
Lol.. I'm glad you're so happy for Christmas. The tree looks very nice! Ours changes rainbow colors :D This year and all the holidays sucked this year.
i know it's been a hot second since this last ITT dropped, but I've been binging the series and i'd like to say that i really hope it continues! this is such a great resource for new lolitas, and so much of the content is genuinely good life advice. it's nice to hear from someone who's got no stake in the asker's life, but is still a very kind person (beneath a few layers of salt)
The December holiday items were already in stores before Halloween even happened here, so I don't think you're too early. xD Looking forward to the house tour!
I need that house tour, your bedroom is so pretty and I love that tree! Pastel coloured fairy lights? Yes please! (Modern coloured fairy lights are so boring, you get red, yellow, green and blue, whereas the old fashioned ones I remember had orange, turquoise and pink too.) I know the pastel ones are paler versions, but they're different, so that's good enough for me! I loathe the icy blue ones and the cobalt blue ones, the icy blue ones are so cold and the cobalt blue ones make me think of the emergency services, especially if they flash. Even finding warm white lights is a struggle these days. (Random tangent there, but oh well.)
