@Mikeatike Oh my gosh I cant stop listening to it! It is so amazingly incredible! I highly recomend you guys all listen to it, it is so beautiful. Gosh, Flyleaf has gone through such a tansformation! They were always an inspired coragous band, but now there songs are opening up to a wider audience!

Okay has anybody heard in Apoctolyptoca's new song, Broken Pieces, featuring Lacey, when she sings "we will both be drowned by you hanging onto me". She goes pretty high when she sings "me". Is that a higher note than F5#? Is lacey's vocal range improving???

@caraleealice Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that's how it works. One octave is from let's say an F3-F4. Though there are two notes, it's only one octave. If she were to have 3 octaves, she would've needed to hit an F6 - which she did not.

Those last notes in Chasm, the 'Oh' part, they started off as head voice but then she proper belted them out in her chest voice A part of me is just so jealous of her having such a large vocal range :(

the c5 in im so sick is in head voice.....and the f5 in chasm is in chest voice, therefore a belted note. also, her range is much higher because you left out all of the harmonies she sings above the melody. just lettin you know

The ad-libs on Chasm are not in her head voice, she belts them in her chest voice. Listen to a live version and its much clearer. Also, She belts at least an E5 in How He Loves.

@SeikoNurashima well I'm going to try to explain you... If you see a piano the central do is a Do3=C3 From that note you guide to make a vocal range and from that you could know if the singer is maybe a contralto, mezzosoprano or soprano... Normally the low notes of a girl are from an E3 (Mi3) to a A3 (La3). Another example in the guitar the first string of the guitar is an E3 and the last string is an E2.

2 octave range, that's impressive, but can she go to a five octave range, like me. I'm a boy, so it's easy enough for me to slip into falssetto to head into my whistle range to get to that alto high C, but is it true for boys to have a five octave range?

no it sounds a bit lower than an f5 to me. maybe a c5-d5ish belt, but her headvoice sounds remarkable close to her chest voice. i think that's y ppl r confused, but i've never seen her belt higher than a d5. but then again what do i know? haha.

I'm not in chorus or anything, but probably alto. i have cousins who are singers. one of them is a soprano so she can go really really high, higher than that.

Under all that contralto range must be a 6th octave, she must have a 6th octave because most contraltos can't reach the 6th octave in head voice. Am I right?

I myself have a much larger range than her... There isn't a flyleaf song I can't sing all of the notes too.. I can sing my highest note is from sarah mclauchlin fear... and my lowest hmmm I can go as low as any guy.. I can sing like a perfect circle judith... just as an example.. and sing it really well... While she is a really talented singer I dont feel her vocal range is really very remarkable...

Singing with a big range ain't important if the songs aren't there. Just look at a low tenor like Michael Stipe who could have sang much higher being a tenor, but he sang in a high-baritone range throughout his career.

Lacey's voice would have been somewhere close to an Alto or a Mezzo-Soprano if she hadn't done drugs in her life. She would've had a more expanded vocal range and she wouldn't have those peeks in her voice. She needs to have a proper singing lesson to train her voice to get even higher, I'm a Bass-Baritone, so my voice is somewhere on the heavy side so I can only sing to about a G4 in chest voice and then the rest of my range (Including C5) is falsetto. (But on a good day I can hit C5 in chest)

No, if she had 3 she would have needed to reach a note of a C6 or above. An octave lets say from C4-C5 is one octave. She reached from an F#3-F#5. That's 2 octaves.

Teddy Belair Her voice is probably lyric mezzo-soprano. Contraltos have strong lows and they sound androgynous, which Lacey does not. I guessed before that her lows weren't full enough to be mezzo, but I think I was wrong. Lol.

She sounds Mezzo-soprano to me. Listen to early pre-LP Flyleaf songs like 'Penholder,' 'Amy Says,' 'Whispering Fingertips,' 'Sleepwalker,' 'Believe in Dreams,' and you will hear her voice being very mezzo-soprano.

she honestly cant go that high for a female. im a tenor and i can go up to a d6 in headvoice. with falsetto i can only go up to like a g5 though becuz i dont use falsetto alot. lacey on the other hand has NEVER gone higher than a gb5. and even then she cant really sustain the note, it's more like a peak. so if i had to guess, i'd say she cant go into the soprano ranges. just my two cents.
