A description of the game of lacrosse and an account of the 1951 Hopkins v. Princeton lacrosse game in which Princeton snapped Hopkins 31 game win streak in a 13-11 victory.
That is so true. I played goalie in lacrosse from 70's until the late 2000s. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-td77RwCxY08.html here is a link to my 1983 High School lacrosse game. I'm the team in the white. I believe in part five I have a reaction when the other team scores on me making it a 6 to 5 game with our team leading.
Hopkins won championships in 1947, 1948, 1949, and 1950 (NCAA titles did not start until 1971). I think this was filmed before grandstands were built adjacent to University Parkway. The small banners attached to the goal nets had stars to honor 3 Hopkins men killed in World War 1, and 7 killed in World War 2 . (One Hopkins student was killed serving in Vietnam). By tradition the banners are affixed to the goals by team captains before each game.
Prior to NCAA title playoffs "collegiate champions" were ELECTED by USILA , based mainly on regional biases with lesser consideration to W~L record. Undefeated Syracuse should have been awarded 1957 title but was denied as their black player Jim Brown was far too tan to appease southern voter tastes.
