Rest Easy Big Red its been 17 years since this day. And it still doesn't make it any easier knowing that besides me losing my big brother and my aunt that day it hurts so much. But ik that there still with me. My brother was there helping people out of the building when a huge piece of falling debris landed on him killing him on impact. And my aunt was on the 45th or 47 floor and didn't make it. By the time she got to the 9th floor thats when her cell cut out on my mother. My mother drops her phone as tears form in her eyes. Now being only 14 almost 15 years old i knew something bad happened. I tugged on my mothers shirt. I remember my exact words to her. Don't worry mom aunt Sarah and Jacob will be fine they are strong people. But little did i know the worst had already happened. Then she gets a call 2 days later from my brothers fiance Tiffany with more disturbing news that would make our mothers heart tighten up and causing her to have a mini stroke. My mother had found out that my big brother was killed in the wake of all that pain and despair. And thats when she lost it. She broke down tears just falling and i knew i couldn't help her through it. So i rubbed her back and stayed quiet all while trying to hold my tears in as i was very close with my brother. And to find out that heart wrenching knews destroyed my emotions for i would say at least 5 years i was cold heartless to everyone i shut myself away i dropped outta school. I basically gave up because i felt like the world had abandoned me and took the only ones i knew i could rely on always from me. My big brother was my best friend he was the coolest most genuine guy ever. And my aunt well she was the best aunt ever. Always brought me something after work came to play games with me. And sometimes i still blame myself for there deaths though i shouldn't but its a force of habit. I still vist there graves I'll even talk to them both for hours id take a bottle of water and some chips and grapes and just kick it with them. One police officer saw me and walked over sat down next to me and smiled. Hes like this your brother. I looked at him and said yeah hes my hero and best friend. I went on about all the stuff we did and sometimes wed get in trouble. But i knew i could always count on my brother. Next thing i knew the officer is in tears. He looks at me and says your brother was an amazing guy. I asked him how he knew. Hes like because your brother saved my wife that day. Its thanks to him that shes still with me. He hugged me and walked off. I looked down at his grave gave him the thumbs up smiled and told them both how much i miss and love them and cant wait to be reunited with them.

Firefighters Prayer When I am called to duty, God wherever flames may rage, give me strength to save a life, whatever be its age. Help me to embrace a little child before it's too late, or save an older person from the horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert to hear the weakest shout, and quickly and efficiently to put the fire out. I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me, to guard my neighbor and protect his property. And if according to your will I have to lose my life, bless with your protecting hand my loving family from strife.

Ladder 3 made the ultimate sacrifice so those at the World Trade Center can survive. They gave their lives so the workers and their families could get out but so many others never got out and when the towers fell many were burned in the rubble. Ladder 3 was able to rescue half of those in the World Trade Center and stayed until the towers fell. Now this truck is entombed with its crew in the foundation of the World Trade Center a lasting memorial to those lost on September 11th.

America I salute you..... I'm a Canadian and I'll never forget 911. I remember everything about the day/moment of the attack. I remember where I was, what I was doing, what I was working on... all of us at the dealership I was a tech at stopped... we stopped... we bolted to the lunch room after the radio informed us of the Carnage. We turned on the TV and watched, it was a very sobering moment for all of us as we knew the world as we knew it was gone forever.... It never ceases to amaze me to hear of the superhuman feats of heroism that occured by all that day....

I was not born back then (12-12-01). But everyone who has consciously experienced this day still knows exactly what they were doing and where they were when they heard the news that a plane and minutes later a second plane had crashed into the twin towers. I think this applies to almost everyone anywhere in the world who had radio and / or TV at the time. I am from the Netherlands and my parents know it exactly where they where and what they where doing. On the one hand I think it is unfortunately that I did not experience it, because it nevertheless brought a kind of bond of solidarity among the people who have experienced it and a break between the generations that have experienced 9/11 and the people who were born after it. On the other hand, I am also happy that I did not experience it. That's how I feel it.

18 years ago today... Clear across the country... I never knew any of them, yet they were all My Brothers!!! All the things I saw in 20 years serving my community.... This day, 9-11.. every year, brings me to tears😪 The most somber day! Some day, maybe I will see truck 3... I'm sure if I ever do get to see her, I will drop to my knees 😪 So many of us never see or hear of the rest, yet we are all brothers. We do what we do because we want to. We take the risks to help others. We all know most of the dangers before we get there. We go anyway!! A few years after 9-11-01, I got 80% of my arm burned, all 2nd and 3rd degree... It all healed very well!! I'm very lucky!! Most of the nerves grew back, only a couple very small scars left.. the sun still caused severe pain if I forget sun screen. Right in the middle of it, on the inside of my forearm is a tattoo.. the crest with the flag in it and 343 across it. That is for my brothers!!! There are ghost flames around the crest for me. Those who have answered their last call, thank you and RIP! Those still answering, Thank You!

This is very moving. Those poor men simply doing their jobs hoping to save people but instead losing all their lives. Sadly, they were the ones who were the first responders & it cost them dearly. In deep respect to these guys they were silly ascending those towers when they were on fire, burning badly. Of course no-one had any idea the towers would fall, either did these brave firefighters, god bless them. Being a firefighter under normal circumstances is heroic enough but September 11 was entirely different. If only the outcome had been better with the fireman saving people, getting out & the towers hadn't collapsed. RIP.

Seeing the firetruck at the museum is just emotional. It’s hard to believe something like this happened even to this day.

This brought me to tears... I mean...burrying a fire truck sounds silly first but how it has been done was just gracefully. It's the right symbol for real heros

I remember exactly where I was on 9-11-01; I was sitting in my sophomore geometry class in high school when the announcement came. The shock all around was easily felt. I remember everyone just started crying from football players to the teachers and everyone else in between. We just started hugging each other and for the rest of the day and weeks to come there were no cliques, nerds, no hate or trivial high school crap. I remember, everyone being on high alert and not seeing my brother for a while because as Texas State Employee ( prison guard, they were on alert as well). This year will be the 18th anniversary and yet it doesn't get any easier.

There's never a day that goes by I don't think about this day. My family says I've become obsessed about 9/11. Scary thing is I was supposed to be on flight that hit the first tower, but missed it. I'm thankful everyday that I get to spend more time with my kids n family.
