I saw this movie on a plane when I was flying overseas. Holy mother of God that was a bad idea. I had to explain my sobbing to the guy sitting next to me and two flight attendants. Even just listening to this song now makes me tear up.

I’m a 42 year old single dad of amazing daughters and I openly will say this movie is devastating , TRULY, if you haven’t seen it I advise anyone to see it, warning tho, if addiction or suicide is something that is difficult , don’t see the movie as much as I love it, man I think I cried thru half of it.

😢 This song always hits hard. I’ve struggled with addiction my entire adult life (I’m 32 and clean 3 years) and I’ve lost many friends to addiction. It’s an epidemic that gets no sympathy because it’s so easy to put the fault on the people suffering from it. We don’t want to be addicts, many of us, like me, go through the struggle of getting clean multiple times and just fall back in. It’s not weakness. It really is a disease. And it is depicted so well in this movie/song. I need to stop because I don’t feel like crying tonight.

I can tell u that the movie is unbelievable and the performance was great , this song got me cause i had a major drinking and drug problem and if it wasn’t for Devine intervention I may have chosen the same route as the character in the movie ,So it hits home to think about those I would have left behind wondering what would have been. You must watch the movie to experience the sound you won’t have a dry eye at the end or during the movie very deep and sad.

This song gets to me as well. We watched the movie with my son right after it came out. My husband took his life from alcoholism. We met at AA 12-31- 2007. We went out and were together ever since. I went to his grave on 12-31-20. I watched the movie, I had forgotten how it ended. I was looking thru text messages and my husband had sent Shallow to me. He had been on a relapse for a few years. Had some sober time in between. I participated with him drinking at times. There are several songs that hit me from that movie. I wish I could tell Lady Gaga my story. When I go to bed at nite I listen to those songs. And I will never love again. He was the love of my life. Tomorrow will be six months that he took his life.

Amazing fact about this video of this song is filming was over for the movie except for the final scene which is this video and her performing and she got a call the day before filming letting her know her best friend who was very I’ll had passed away. Filming was suppose to begin thst night but Bradley Cooper found out what’s happened and they had grown very very close during filming and it was an emotional film for her having been around addiction and suicide so she began to get very emotional as filming widened down . Bradley copper found her at the studio and said she was telling him she jsut and get though it but he told her he wouldn’t film that day and to go to the hospital. It destroyed her and Brad went to see her later and told her to take as much time as needdd , especially knowing this final song , the meaning behind it and it relating her her friend as well. She said he told her to take a week off and see how she felt but the next morning after no sleep in tears all night she called him and said she wanted to finish and do the first Al co. Wet scene (this song). He tried to convince her no reason too or rush but she said the song wouldn’t be a movie piece she’d be acting up but if she did it that day , it would mean more, be real And her frisked would have wanted her to finish as sting as she could.. he kept trying to nicely let her off the hook when she arrived as she wa demotional but 100% to record it immidately. So hours after her best friend died, no sleep and very emotional from the movie and her Frinend the filmed and recorded this scene of the movie band song in an actual concert hall. She recorded this once and Bradley Cooper who was the director also said it was beyond perfect and that the viewers would be able to see and feel her sadness in the song. She got ready for a second recording and he told her that was it, beyond perfect. You can actually see a few spots on stage where she gets very emotional waociaolurynest the end of the song.. so that final scene and song was a 1 take in about the most emotional state she could have been film. That’s about the time that he was being seen white a bit with her after fimlming was all done for quite a while, he attended a number of her concerts in the crowd around the world and she began in Begas to call him out of the crowd to sing with her which is why you see the. Cell photahe. It’s not in her concert program but he kept showing up and spending alot of time with whr dhichbthe media jumped on but a representative of hers informed the media what happened and said the Bradley Cooper continued the daily contact after filming and began spending time with her to help her through that time of her best friend not being with her anyone , so he stepped in , didn’t care what the media said and flew regisoety to suport her as a close friend with a special bond they developed in filming . A editor said that it was very clear thst Lady Gaga was struggling emotionally during filming of addiction related scenes, heartache scenes and suicide related aches and said Brad would cut the scene and walk her far far off the set and they’d spend periods of time sitting and talkings . He said Bradley was truley very worried about her not jsut from the friend but worried about how the script and filming of emotional personal issues was so hard for her and her emotional state became his #1 concern as thy moved thru the movie.. I personally can’t get through the movie without it destroying me emotional they much if it with experiences around me so I’m not sure I can see it again but 100% it’s amazing, the music thru the whole movie is amazing , their chemistry isis so real and you can tell their became very close also see emotional scenes for her thst she urged him to use becasue the entire relationship and heartbreak of heheh the movie are numerous so you’re able to see some specific scenes where she’s emotional or event crying that was real and that final song man it makes me sad. Jus tbe awsre of thise 2 main pllot points and make sure anyone you watch it with us aware of thise 2 focuses in the movie incase it’s not soenthing a friend can can or should deal with if they so inclined because the previews for the movie never hinted too much on either factor that would be a big part of the movie so when I saw it I went blind and got destroyed. Thst was when it came out in theater and still hearing any of the music especially the last song all these years later breaks me stiff. I do think it’s amazing thst Brad wanted to really address addiction , mental health , suicide , emotional pain. and should be a main point and touch people thst have been around any of it or struggled themselves. He and lady Gaga hoped the movie would bring those 2 very serious issues out into public discussion and shouldn’t be shred away from it dealt with egatively by anyone that has personal experince or frustration and race silly for those that don’t have those pains or sadnesses to respect those thst were very emotional understanding they likely struggled though some of those scenes have painful memoirs
