Thank you , always look forward to your videos so much solid practical content. Nice to see crew that join you and their cooking and bucket carrying skills haha . Also like that you praise the good points of the boats but no sugar coating about the bits that maybe don’t work so well or could be improved . Great stuff look forward to the next journey.

Igor, It is a worthy upgrade to upgrade from the lagoon 42 ?? and what do you think of the Bali 4.6 in comparison to the Lagoon 46 ?

Oh and have you ever heard of Viking Sunstones that they would let viking sailers see where the sun is even in fog or cloudy horizons? I'm pretty sure it would have been a stone sometimes called TV rock. It has lots of clear crystals ligned up going the same direction similar to fiberoptics. I bet you could use one of those to use your watch to get longitude and latitudes. Send an address and I'll send you one and w we could get famous for proving that it works like they suspect.

Not much info out there on real-world reefing, when you went to the 3rd reef, how far did you turn into the wind? Would be great to see some video or detailed steps. Great videos, really appreciate the insights.

For reefing main you need to go upwind a lot to have no power in sail. Thanks 🙏

We have eaten fried sandwich's since the 50's mostly just cheese but my favourite is ham , cheese and tomato ,,, and fried in butter , no oil in our house way back then 🙂

This passage from Lipari through Messina strait was spectacular. Love these places! L46 sails well, only wish it had a regular 110% genoa instead of this tiny self-tacking jib. And I would take L450 over L46 any time. For me, the only thing that is really better on L46 is dinghy davits, a real improvement. The rest is either the same or a step back in terms on convenience or function. Really wonder how they design these boats, it feels like the team that did L450 was fired or resigned and new people who knew nothing about L450 designed L46 from scratch, all the knowledge gained over 10 years of production and use is lost. Should not really happen. Igor, your videos are a pleasure to watch, great job!

@@IgorStropnik Regarding the quality of L46 mast and rigging: we were once sailing with good speed in the fresh wind. Several of us were on the flybridge, suddenly one of the guys tells me that something fell off the mast, bounced of the saloon roof and fell out of sight. I did not see it, but went to check the deck and luckily found a big nut. I thought it fell off the top of the mast, but it was the nut of the big bolt that attaches the boom to the mast! Luckily the bolt was still there and I was able to put the nut back and tighten it with a wrench, still while sailing at full speed. We were really lucky, if we did not notice the nut falling off, then the boom could disconnect from the mast! Lucky twice, because the nut could have gone to the sea. Should not really happen, can't imagine that in 2022 there is no solution to prevent nuts just falling off like this. If they don't know any better solution, just put 2 nuts! :) And about full-batten main vs in-mast furling: I keep hearing how many problems there are with in-mast furling, that the sail can get stuck and it is then impossible to take it down, etc, but full-batten main resting on the boom is not entirely problem free either. Just last year I had a situation where we could not drop the main because as we started dropping it, the main halyard has wrapped itself around the metal fixture that attaches shrouds to the top of the mast. After that there was no way to lower the main. Luckily there was little wind, we could anchor with the sail still up and then sort things out. We almost ended up going up the mast, but then managed to free the main halyard (after about an hour of trying different solutions). I also had numerous situations where main halyard would wrap around something high on the mast while the sail was down, all on L450/L46. Even if one tries to keep main halyard tight all the time, there are still moments where there is slack in it and a couple of seconds is enough for this situation to happen. I still prefer full-batten mains because of better shape, but both systems are not without problems.

Cruising cats should have furling mains. They don’t because full batten looks better and easy to sell. Nautitech 46 fly has option of furling…this is the future

Good captain is careful captain. Im also going most of the time slower, than I could to reduce risk and loads for rig and boat. I also use preventers lines. That's because im carrying tourist and im responsible for them. I also need bigger foresail on my small cat when going downwind I don't like to use main. Good job Igor.

I would switch tracks of the 2 doors I think it is a default construction of the sliding doors it makes more sense if they were switched around.

Hi Igor, thank you for this great informative video. If you want to buy a cruising catamaran, what would you choose? Another question to you as a Croatian: I would like to take sailing lessons on a catamaran in Croatia. Can you recommend anybody, maybe you do it yourself? So far I am a RYA. dayskipper but want to do more.
