It’s not just Afro people who have sickle cell that’s what so racist about all this ….. it is very common in south Asians and Arabs especially in Bahrain 👀….
He's saying that soldiers 18- 28 have 8 times the rate of sudden death have Sickle trait (this is true). So he looked at the similarities in the ratios with Covid and saw that Black people w/SCT were dying at similar rates. So, he hypothesized that SCT carriers were more likely to die from Covid at higher rates than those who don't have it. He's right and wrong here... here's why: People w/SCT still suffer from the basic foundational issue of Sickling which is a form of Hemolysis in which the body attacks its own red blood cells. Only difference is in Sickle Cell the red blood cell is ripped apart by a chain of oxygen molecules that have linked up in a straight line (polarization) once they outnumbered by the other molecules in the cell. This causes the cell to implode and everything in it spills into the bloodstream including the POISONOUS STICKY IRON MOLECULE KNOWN AS HEME. This molecule smoother and sticks to everything in its path causing blockages that eventually prevent the vein from communicating. This cuts off both O2 and circulation, resulting in a very painful Sickle Cell Crisis's. People w/Sickle Cell Disease are Sickling about 20% of their cells 24/7. Whereas those w/SCT may only have up to 5% of their cells Sickling 24/7. The problem comes in when Trait carriers are over exerted and their Sickling cells tips 30%-50% in a very short amount of time triggering rhabdomyolysis, a serious reaction in which the body shuts down the limbs in an effort to keep the main organs functioning b/c of the sudden loss of oxygen and lack of circulation. Most carriers don't know what's happening b/c they were never told that they're in danger having SCT. Therefore, they don't know what to do when they suddenly can't move a limb or are super exhausted. A majority of these people are in the military or professional sports so they continue to push their bodies resulting in a fatal heart attack or stroke. The reason the correlation btwn the 2 groups was so similar is b/c people w/Sickle Cell Disease cells only live 10- 20. days, compared to the 90-120 days normal cells live. That means any virus that needs more than 20 days to incubate and takeover the body are out of luck. After all SCD is an evolutionary trait that prevents the body from being hospitable to any virus. So, Covid only stuck around long enough to make room for infections that we deal with anyway like pneumonia or acute chest syndrome. If patients died it was most likely due to medical neglect. As for those w/trait...the same way they don't know how to protect themselves from rhabdomyolysis, they didn't know to protect themselves from Covid and just like those with the disease their deaths were also most likely prompted by medical neglect. The difference being disease patients knew what to do to keep themselves safe and Trait didn't because they're told they have nothing to worry about until there's something to worry about.
