nah but fr OP was probably ignorant to the fact of the lakes history as i was till this morning n juss uploaded this vid as a harmless hey check out my trip to lake lanier yk?
While Oscarville has a fucked up history, the lake itself is not evil. Dams control flooding and provide pollution free energy. Air pollution from burning fossil fuels and flooding are two major killers.
Y’all not creeped out by this lake? There’s a whole city along with the graves of people that are on the bottom of that lake. I wouldn’t go nowhere near that lake or Lake Piru here in LA.
@@angeladavis939 hello Angela I believe there are lost histories ... Check out this video.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5Ng4e9zlPJM.html
@@Guerrero3546 lies hurt even more. Do you really think that the army covered up the area because of the false accusations about those kids? Yeah, some really horrible things happened to some innocent people but calling it a cover-up is ridiculous. Everything was in the papers back then. The stories are still around today.
@@Guerrero3546 what does the size have to do with anything? It supplies power and water to nearly half of the state's population. You can't do that with a puddle.
To bring water to the surrounding Atl area. When the lake was low we were told to monitor our water consumption. I use to hate the smell of the water. I would cook with bottled water
VERY NICE . i lived many places close to the lake between clermont and buford 1960 _2018 . i rode my kt 250 trials bike around lake during 1975 ? during drought. currently living in wa. state ,bellingham wa. . bordering canada north and puget sound west . i'm 3 mi from the water here , forest and water are familiar , equal but a different beauty . THANX FOR THE MEMORIES
What a mess I can't believe the army corps of engineers left all that DANGEROUS shit in the water. People dive off there boats and get a tree trunk ,rebar,a branch in the eye and when there's a drought it's worse. I almost bought PROPERTY at lake Lanier and saw the drought and new SOMETHING else was going on here so we started asking around and we got the answer's we were shocked of the town and unmarked graves farm structure's and trees 35 feet and under left standing WTF no wonder so many people die on that lake every year stay clear of that cursed lake. 😱💀👻
@anvil357 They used to use those engine blocks to anchor 30+ slip docks many years ago. Now they use giant concrete blocks which are a lot more environmentally friendly.
Interesting....I was there at that time also and saw that sunken motor boat at the Lake Lanier Islands boat ramp. Along with a lot of other junk along the shore.
Very cool pics! I remember going to several parks on Lake Lanier back then and collecting lots of old bottles, one was a very old beer bottle that was still sealed. I went down to the race track grandstands, was sad to see that kids had broken many of the steps that had survived underwater. Old Federal campground was nice, Off the beach area was the foundation for a house and many tree stumps with roots exposed. The wood from the house was gone but there were still many rusty nails left behind.
in my lake we got campers and RVs from a flood that washed out the camp grounds and I know not all the campers were recovered. plus we our share of garbage
Yeah I remember a houseboat even showing up at starboard during the last drought around 2000-2001 and they put all the boats on styrofoam. Shallow waters there. The racetrack is at laurel park off of Cleveland hwy north of longstreat bridge in gainesville. Some elderly gentlemen reminiscing about the races there in the 50s. A lot of it involved moonshine :)
@@scottz06 is there an easy way for us to connect. It would be great if you’re willing to share them. I’m looking for any photos around lake Lanier from November 2, 2007 to March 1, 2008
Great video and thanks for sharing , I didnt hear from Aqualand marina but I have to go and check my boat!!,can anyone tell me if the recent raining and snow helped a bit ? thanks !
Hey Scott, I work with 11Alive News. We're doing a story on Lake Lanier, the dive teams that do search and rescue on the lake, and all the things that lie beneath it. I would love to use your photos of the Looper Race Track. If I give you credit, could we use it for our story?
When you consider Lanier has 700 miles of shoreline, I'd guess that the total water in the lake was less than 50% of the amount when full. Atlanta simply has to stop growing. There isn't enough water. The same is true in many other parts of the country, including Sourthern California.
To my knowledge, they reroute the river. To cover the town. Once all the black ppl were terrorized out. This is all So Sad. And ppl on here making comical comments, makes me sick. Sad how ppl can make light of a whole society of ppl. I mean they had Over 300 students in school. This was going to be a really UP and Coming Black City...... All destroyed.... so sad.
I was there about the same time in November but took pics mostly on the south side near Long Hollow Park. I'll do something similar in response here. There are lots of fishing lures around too. That old sunk outboard tri-hull looks like a model from the 1960s. You think anyone will start a clean up project now? Where the hell are these so-called caring environmentalists? Drinking lattes at Starbucks? Anyway, I hope to recover my $110 Ray Bans and $175 Varnets lost in the '90s while drunk :p .
