Parents in the Lake Orion Community School District are fuming about a bus driver they say should be fired. Parents tell 7 Action News the driver has tormented their elementary school students since the beginning of the school year.
@@Ty-vj4wg haha I wish I was joking, I seriously did not think this was a rule, we were always dropped off alone and sometimes strangers would try t0 talk to us. 10/10 did not think it was a rule until today. Thank toy for sharing this knowledge.
I'm a bus driver for one of the 20 largest districts in the USA. A couple of years ago I was pulled off my run (my kids "doubled up" with another driver) so I could substitute for a newer driver who had called in sick. I gave these kids (elementary) my 30 second "greeting spiel" about how I've never driven this run before, I may ask them for help, I'll try to give them a smooth ride. "Ok, everybody! Let's go home"! About 50 kids aboard. As each kid leaves, I wish them a good evening, thank them for riding with me. After a few stops, the kids start asking me if I'll be their new driver. "No, this is probably just for today". Soon after, a few kids start CHANTING MY NAME, wanting me to replace the other driver permanently. Soon, it's ALL 40 remaining kids! I couldn't believe it! All I did was treat them with basic courtesy and care! Next day, other driver is back. I happened to overhear her as she walked by, speaking with a 3rd driver, she hissed- "Yeah, I'm back to driving the little "demon sh!ts" again"!! There was nothing bad or wrong about her kids. She just had NO business being a driver. We're hauling little human souls, not cans of soup! She left a couple of months later. Good!
Thank you for being kind to the kids ... I remember the kind adults from my childhood because I met a few very mean adults ... I am sure you made a difference in their lives ... little things can have a big impact
@@BigMoneysLifeI suppose they figure that they'll have a steady paycheck with lots of time off (weekends, summer, holidays) and just endure the kids. Bad plan!
Yo a similar story happened to me, we had the worst bus driver when I was like in 9th grade. She used to literally scream at us for no reason. Then when people started getting fed up she just got angrier. I remember one time she stopped in the middle of the road and started talking to a friend that stopped in the car next to the bus. The light was green so we were all telling her to go and she eventually went and got pissed at all of us for telling her to drive. We had a sub for a day and he was super chill, I forgot but I think she ended up leaving like two weeks after we had the sub.
I had a friend who was a school bus driver. He had problems with the middle school kids and one day pulled over and yelled in the PA system and he yelled so loud the whole bus shook. He said,"SHUT UP! YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTHS NOW!" They sat for several minutes and one of the kids said that they were going to be late. He then yelled,"I DON'T GIVE A DAM!" They were very late to school. Even a police car stopped to see if everything was ok and he said it's these kids being loud. Someone in the office talked to everyone on that bus and told them they were lucky they didn't get detention. That afternoon the ride home was fine when just before the first stop he pulled over and everyone gasped for air. He stood up and said that he didn't mean to be that nasty that morning and that they can all talk but can't be that rowdy. Except for one incident when a kid set off a firecracker he never had any trouble at all and the kids really liked him just like the elementary school kids and high school kids. Oh when the firecracker incident happened he pulled over and yelled he wanted who did it to come up front and he said that they would sit there all day if needed.
I had something similar happen to me with the firecracker. Right before my stop there is this other where two people (brothers) get off. One day only one brother was on because the other was sick but when we got to the stop the “sick” brother was already outside with a firecracker ready to throw it at his brother when he got off, so he lit it then threw it in front of the bus. He got in trouble.
I had a bus driver who would close the door on me and give me citations for “weird noises”. We reported him so many times that he eventually quit and became a mailman
@@garrettdurham8767 IMO you lose the right to privacy when you do something as abhorrent as this! If you can't tolerate children...don't take a job like this!
Too bad we can’t fire some people as parents! Trust me, many of this children are rebel rousers! Then these rebels turn innocent in front of their parents so they don’t get in trouble.
Completely agree but then again the children in this video were in like 1st grade so they don’t fully understand that they have to be behaved when on the road but would totally agree if the kids were in 2nd grade plus
even if they were being rowdy and loud they are fucking children bruh. what part of that do you not understand? Part of the job of a bus driver is to ensure the safety and comfort of the children. I doubt 1st graders are creating such a ruckus as to warrant action anywhere near what this bus driver has done. disgusting that you are excusing it.
Does it give them a right to hurt 7-10 year olds? If you know kids get traumatized easily and I’m sure these kids doesn’t like busses anymore. Cause think about It they get hurt and cussed at. Wouldn’t That make you rude and mean when your older? Cause older people’s actions reflect on the children so when there olde they will think cussing and hitting and hurting people is right! This is just my opinion so don’t take it seriously. I’m a they/them by the way or she/her
Yeah all over the kids but they completely forget to mention the monster kids that torment the bus driver. The kids need discipline and obviously are not getting it from their parents... They probably drive the driver nuts. Driving aroumd all those children is a HUGE responsibility. I know how these kids are now a days too. They are monsters! They demand you respect them and their feelings and do as they tell you, in the same breathe they insult and disrespect the life out everyone else.
When I was a kid my bus driver was an elderly english woman, when the little kids would show hesitation about getting on she would say " hop up like a bunny" . She was a lovely woman, I feel bad that she had to deal with some of the kids on the roudier ride home at times.
In the 8th grade we tormented a school bus driver with the "song 99 bottles of beer" she went ballistic. One boy covered her eyes while driving. Kids can be pricks.
@@Coffeeisnecessarynowpepper You are kidding right? He held girls hostage beat them, got them pregnant, killed the babies, killed animals that he gave the girls, kept them locked in the house for 10+ years. This has to be a joke.
I rode a school bus back in the 60's The driver did not have to put up with BS. If kids misbehaved... they were not allowed to ride on the bus. And the school enforced that. What's really going on with our school buses /or drivers these days ? In a world of cameras everywhere... How can the facts not be realized ? Bad driver or misbehaving student... which is it ?
70’s and 80’s until I got my license. I remember the bus driver pulling over and telling combatants in the back to knock it off and we weren’t moving until we shut the hell up. And we did.
It's just little kids, fact is most school districts need bus drivers badly and they can't just fire her in a time of need. It's hard to screen for good bus drivers when you don't even get a lot of people to apply for that job anyway.
In my opinion, the bar is much higher than it used to be. 20 or 30 years ago, nobody would give a crap. At least now people recognize that this behaviour is wrong.
I didn't hear anything fireable in the parents' list of grievances. Someone pointed a finger at their kids' face? In my day, if you came home and told your parents that, the parents would want to know what you were doing that that adult had to wag a finger in your face and then you'd be in trouble with your parents too.
I remember I had a bus driver in elementary school who was the worst driver I’ve ever seen in my life. She’d run over curbs, swerve, etc. and she had a habit of slamming on the brakes on the main road and I remember one kindergartener broke her nose on the back of the seat in front of her because she slammed the brakes so hard. She wasn’t fired after that though & she was my bus driver for 2-3 years
Shut down the entire school district until that crazy bus driver is fired from her job and jailed for child endangerment and filing a false police report. The staff need to either be retrained or replaced by people who are COMPETENT.
When I was in Elementary my mom had to get the assistant bus driver fired because she was so scary from the little kid that they pee they pants every time they saw her and from me I have Claustrophobia and she put me in a Claustrophobic Area and Refused to let move so went I got home my mom has to check my heart rate because if to high I can have a sesar so my heart rate was so high that I almost had a sesar
oh yea, the little box in the back of the bus! I was in there a lot! poor thing, must have been so scared you couldn't even concentrate during "English' and 'Spelling' lessons huh?
@@TSR228 I don't actually, but thanks lmao. I'm currently taking college classes on top of my highschool classes, and have a job while keeping all my grades up and applying for scholarships 👌 It's silly to make assumptions and blanket statements like that toward someone you've never met. I'm certainly better off than the kids who have grown up with lockdown drills, overworked teachers, and a school system that sees them as nothing but a number that's only value is based on a standardized test score. 🤷
I had one of the best bus drivers, he would always worry for us, Make sure we got home on time. Overall he seem like he was the happiest bus driver alive.
We had a really cool bus driver during our field trip a few years ago, like her music taste was fire for the time. Just imagine a bunch of 5th graders yelling the lyrics to gods plan while we were driving and she didn’t care since while we were loud we weren’t THAT loud. OHH and then when we drove through a tunnel and everyone was holding there breathe, it was a really good day.
Capybaraism why shouldnt she? have you seen the state of children educated by our public school system. Good for her mom for not tolerating substandard education because it’s free.
Why on EARTH would a school district just switch a bus driver to a different route, when she'll only do the same thing to the kids on the new route she's on? If that were my kid's bus driver, I'd keep taking action until she got FIRED.
@@TSR228 children were traumatized. Driver used vulgar and inappropriate language with said children. Unacceptable behavior in my opinion but if you think otherwise that's cool.
I wish just one of you parents drove these precious little angels just once. It’s a school bus not a party bus. If that driver needs total silence while their trying to get those kids to home or school safely that’s how it needs to be. If you don’t want your kid corrected on the bus, then drive them yourself.
i dont blame the kids though, they just want out, but they cant leave or choose to do something that interests them most of the time so they take it out on the closest figure of authority they can. some kids are obedient but it depends also i think on their environment. kids who misbehave are normally just miserably bored and need actual stimulation.
I remember this one Bus Driver had an accident while I was on the Bus with another student and a Driver's Aide.....long-story-short, I told the Bus Company after telling the Guidance Counselor about it and they moved him to another route...not fire him
@@TSR228 what is that supposed to mean? I used to go to a school for children with Disabilities and the Bus Company that the Driver worked for was not working for the School.
@@azul7588 it might be illegal, but I bet if it was presented anonymous through an email you'd still get results... Parents send kids to school with tape recorders, there is a case in Virginia right now about special educators...
@@williamhufnagel8790 true but it can really turn the case around I’m a lawyer and a lot of my clients have tried this and the judge will ask you many questions about it and I don’t recommend it because it can make you look really suspicious and now that technology has improve you don’t really know if the recording was edited
@@azul7588 why is it illegal? i thought as long as one party consents its legal to record in public (assuming this is a government owned bus)? or is it because the kid is a minor and cant consent or something? i cant remember the law exactly, but id be interested to know.
@@CHLOCHLOLP yes but parents can make the problem worse and don’t know who to believe plus the kids can be manipulated quite easily by adults and don’t know how to act properly in situations many cases like these the parent are behind them and can say anything they want all they need is for the child to say the same for example in Texas a mom was angry at teacher for taking to her boyfriend so she planed to record her voice and edited everything to seem like the teacher was bullying the kids then the mom showed the other moms and told the kids about the kids but they kept saying no but the parents kept pushing making the kids believe that all they had to do is give it to the police and send some kids and boom she was in prison until 1 year later they looked at the recorder and it was looked at and noticed that it was all edited and they arrested the mother who presented because every one rated her out even the kids
kids can be a pain on the bus with screaming n yelling n throwing things n nvr cleaning up after themselves or there parents to clean up their messes n most kids curse alot n im glad this bus driver didn't put up with there crap. see how the parents wanna get her fired that just shows wat there teaching there kids to be when there older!!
Man where I’m from some of our bus drivers were just as bad, maybe even worse. On one bus I was on in the 3rd grade, we weren’t even allowed to talk, no whispering or anything. Any kid who did would get thrown off the bus immediately. No parents that I ever knew of had a problem with it either, which is shitty cuz getting thrown off the bus in the middle of no where in West Virginia means you could be walking several hours to even reach a place with a phone.
Doesn't matter what the KIDS do ... ADULTS have to act right! ... plus the driver is being PAID to care for the kids ... no excuse for child abuse ... you don't like the job, quit
Most districts have cameras why not check them?? There are many bad drivers also I have seen many bad parents!!! I wrote two kids up for running to my bus it was icy that day but I had told the kids not run to even on a dry day!!! One of those two is my own child!! The second childs mother was mad at me for writing her child up and demanded that I apologize to him which I refused!!! I just handed her the phone number for my manager told her to get off the bus or I’d call the cops!!! Not all parents refuse to accept the bad behavior of their children and that is a huge part of the problem!!! If you have trouble with you child’s bus driver call the school and the bus company and ask to watch the video!!! Sometimes people are very surprised at the behavior they see of their children!!!
Put cameras on the buses. You can also driver your kids. I keep reading this particular statement. And it's true. Kids record and post. Look at how the kids act too! Not all kids but some.
She probably told them she would drop them off as purely a scare tactic. Not saying it is okay to even threaten something like that. The dropping kids off strangers was likely a mob of angry parents demanding their children be off the bus. She should not have let the kids off but that would have been a whole other news story. Like “Bus driver refuses to let kids off with parents. Now that being said I bet 90% of the issues would be solved if the kids either just got on the bus and followed the rules or just found another way to school and back. Kids get yelled at by bus drivers all the time. They moved the driver so what problem solved. She has not harmed any children although the brake checking is not ok. Fired though no. It probably wont happen anyways saying that there is a driver shortage and that kids get yelled at by drivers probably hundreds if not thousands of times a day. Who knows if all these allegations are even true. Kids make stuff up to smear people they don’t like.
my first and only experience in riding a bus to school; another girl pulled a kitchen knife out of her backpack and told me she'd cut me and stab me if she wanted to.. kids can be fuck-heads. When my mom called the school about it they sarcastically asked her if she wanted the police to arrest a child. Thankfully, Mom never had me ride the bus again.
I'm so thankful to live in the UK & my grandsons school is a 5min walk away. It must be so scary to have to put your kids on a school bus & not know what the driver of that bus is like.
Taunting and scaring children? Have you seen how bad kids act on the school bus? These kids would never survive back in our day. Take your own Bae Bae kids to school then.
School buses do get loud. Kids are excited to go home. They need a second adult on board and enforceable rules. Bus drivers need training on how to handle all situations that arise. And children that can’t follow rules need consequences.
Opposite on my end the bus driver says and does nothing even while a kid is being hurt.A kid who threatened to break my kids knees and has many times hurt him and other kids on the same bus was reported where i am by me and they said for us to walk another way home after they get off the bus. we live in the same area .. now my kids cant walk home alone.
This society has gotten worse , isn't it wonderful? Back , years ago, there was no BS. It wasn't tolerated . But , from what I have seen over the quite a few years? I don't care ,. Unless, the things that did go on back then was kept hush , hush. But , Again. Never mind.
There's a lot of people who don't know about the laws do you know the bus driver is supposed to pick your kids up on the same side of the door is done that's supposed to walk across the street to get to the bus we had the same problem
So the parents are taking this kids word for it because, God forbid, a child would never exaggerate. Right? What's happening here is some of these oh so innocent little darlings are unruly and the bus driver is trying to keep control of the bus for ALL the kids' safety not just these spoiled brats who've never had a spanking, never been told no, never been forced to accept any kind of boundaries, never been so much as scolded, and are the universe which rotates around their parents blind eyed heads.
@@CHLOCHLOLP Because spanking is not the end all. It's one method to choose from. And you can't blame kids for being spoiled, you blame the parents. I thought that was pretty clear from my post but hopefully we're clear now. Are we?
@@viking956 like so if its not the end all then how come you say the lack of it is why they are spoiled brats? if its only one method and not perfect then they being spanked wouldnt be the only reason they are bad and wouldnt necessarily solve these problems like you suggested originally.
Dropping kids off that is not their stop, talking trash to them, and stopping violently is a serious matter. If the kids play up, then report it to the school and the parents.
Over two minutes - 0 proof of any of the accusations. The only witness shown is a kid who is clearly lying - looking all over the pwace as he tewws his lies. They selected the baby talk kid because it would create sympathy. In the absence of evidence, use emotion.
She doesn't work at the school? I'm sure she probably emailed the school district and they probably just ignored it. I'm guessing they came on the news to draw publicity to it to get her fired...
Okay if the bus driver is doing this to one bus full of students like sticking fingers in the faces and yelling at them and they are horrible and just being really really rude to students I really think she should never be driving a another bus
As more and more school systems contract their bus service out with private companies, stories like this, like the dozens of kids left behind, put out at the wrong stop, told they have to get out miles from home, left on the bus when the driver's shift ended, etc. are just going to become ever more common.
@@teslagirl1 well I mean I got off the bus and when I looked up its like I didn't recognize anything. And then I saw the sign and I knew then that I was in a different state. By that time I looked back where the bus was but it had left me.
I mean I see your point or if not the parents a family member or sibling who can drive if their parents work night shifts and need to sleep during the day but people pay tax’s to support transportation for kids they could make it safer but I don’t think it would change very much because just because it’s safer doesn’t always mean something won’t go wrong one day like if people got the cameras they wanted yeah but if the camera breaks etc then what you gonna do so just drive the kids by parents , older siblings, other family members it’s probably more safer anyways plus they actually make it on time
They should put cameras on the buses to see what the problem is. There has to be a reason for this, if some kids are being unruly, dropping them ALL off is not fair to the well-behaved.
Honestly, drivers don't just do things like that for no reason. Their kids probably are bad and disruptive on the bus and the driver has probably reported it with any consequences for the kids. People are so quick the trash the driver when they don't know what their kids are like on the bus, they think they're all angels. Right.
last year in seventh grade my friend forgot her bus pass. She never really brought it and she had a lot of problems at home, she had lost it completely one day and they are like 15 dollars which she knew her mom wasnt gonna pay. the bus driver got really mad at her and told her she didnt care about her home life and if she didnt get a bus pass she was gonna leave her there, and the bus driver then said "You know what you dont deserve to be on my bus anyway" and just left her there at the stop with no way for her to get to school because her parents were both at work. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket, rolled down the bus window and handed it to her along with one of my two house keys so she could walk back to my house because it was around 11 degrees and snowing, and i gave he because she had her phone taken away and i wanted her to get ahold of her mom so she could tell her the situation. her mom was furious. she walked back down to my house and warmed up and called her mom. The bus driver continued to drive us to school and back every day even after notifying the school of her previous offenses. some poeple just shouldnt work with children.
