He said the Clippers would lose to the Mavs in the Conference Finals unless the Lakers made a move in which case they would make the conference finals and lose and then when it happened, pretended that his caveat was that the Lakers would win the title not lose in the conference finals. @ne0n1nja247 I hear you and the hate is definitely overblown, the attention is magnified because the attention is always major on the Lakers, and major on Bron. Russ was a terrible basketball fit and obviously isn't the player he once was, so I think outsized expectations for him plus the poor fit doomed him from the start. The Lakers being a major destination is still a thing, I do think the "hometown kid coming home" thing gets slightly overblown though. The reason Bron teams still have that expectation is because he's still a top 10-15 guy and there's two of em with him and AD. That covid year suffers from some forgetfulness from fans cuz before the bubble the Lakers were a buzzsaw and Lebron was in legit MVP conversations, go back and look at the records before the bubble and the convos. They didn't suddenly benefit from the bubble. Even the following year, they were poised for a repeat or a deep run before Solomon Hill injured Bron, and AD's injury vs the Suns - they were up 2-0 in that series.

@@Mos3sofficial I can give credit For The Lakers literally ripping people apart during the beginning of that season. But it's also the fact that usually the Lakers tend to break down mid season due to fatigue and injury and that season literally getting nuked halfway through defintely helped AD and Bron walk into that postseason and continue ripping teams apart. But then every other season (Minus this year they were pretty healthy this time) they get tired and injured and end up breaking down for the postseason. Which is why I discount the season so hard. Cuz I doubt we're getting that again any time soon

The lakers are 1-8 in their last 2 playoff series. Klay isn’t really moving the lakers to the top of the west, but the Mavs are pretty much right there and they just made the WCF and their biggest weakness was 3pt shooting. Klay is perfect for the Mavs and the Mavs are closer to contention+no state income tax.

Perhaps the most obvious explanation is the correct one. Klay has won four championships and has been to the Finals six times with one of the best teams in NBA history. He missed the Playoffs last season. He would rather play for a team that just made the Finals than a play-in team. Pelinka's ability or inability as a GM may have had nothing to do with Klay's decision to play for the Mavs.

He won't regret. He (Klay Thompson) made the wisest right decision. Klay Thompson now plays with a more younger and hungrier Dallas Mavericks team (presently the Western Conference Champions), compared to the Aging Los Angeles Lakers team that made it to the NBA finals way back in year 2020. In addition, Klay Thompson will not have to deal with Lebron James. To also add to it, Klay Thompson will be coached by Jason Kidd (a more experienced Coach compared to Coach JJ Redick of the Los Angeles Lakers team) and will have more respect there at Dallas. To also add to it more, Klay Thompson will not have to pay all those kind of taxes like he was paying when he was playing for Golden State Warriors team there in San Francisco, California State, United States. Nick gets so easily offended whenever someone brings up past takes of his that portray him as someone talking out of both sides of his mouth. Especially when it comes to subjects involving LeBron and the Lakers. Nick here is trying to portray this concept that Rob Pelinka is a useless GM that has contributed absolutely nothing towards LA's success. Yet during Pelinka's tenure, he managed to sign LeBron James, made the trade for Anthony Davis, overhaul the roster several times to appease the Laker Nation, and as a result the Lakers have two WCF appearances and 1 NBA championship. Brou is absolutely right in pointing out that Nick is highly critical of every move or non-move that Pelinka makes, yet every year since 2019 Nick has picked the Lakers to at least make the Conference Finals, if not win the championship. I guarantee Nick will pick the Lakers to face Dallas in the 2025 Western Conference Finals, and if the Lakers fail to win the conference or even make it to the WCF, he will be back to putting 80+ percent of the blame on Pelinka.
