It would be interesting to know the profit margin of this hydroponics operation compared to traditional greenhouse (soil usage & ambient sun only - no supplemental lighting system) It cost a lot of money to create the ideal growing environment shown here. The video mentions this operation has gone through bankruptcy and is now owned by employees. Was the transitions because the cost of operations was higher than their sales? I wonder about the details; I'm sure they are varied and complicated. I love the concept of hydroponic farming but, need to look into the realities of the hydroponic farming 'business.'

great video, not worried about no gloves harvesting, if your not washing your produce before you eat it you can get sick. Besides the stuff you buy in the stores is coming in from Mexico, do you think they wear gloves when harvesting?

+Kadui Saui really, no matter what how many times you invest in cleaning, the algae just start to grow in few like 4 days again. You can minimize adding a UV system in the water line. but again is only a palliative, the live always will find his ways

I believe they make them in-house to fit their carts.

I'm not really sure how what they do. We only produced a short video segment for the show. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

channels can be as simple as aluminum or steel or plastic gutter stock. Or custom bent metal.

That circular system the Japanese use is even better, less labor. Why arent the harvesters wearing gloves? Icky!

Dosent matter if they were gloves or not, they can still wipe nose or something and transfer germs with gloves. I see it in Subway and other places all the time.

They should use gloves when they are packing the product. Anything touched by human hands will not be fresh.

Growing channels need to be cleaned after each use. Looks like those have never been cleaned at all, they are disgusting and the point of hydroponics is to bring a "clean" prodcut to market.
