That pass to Zay flower he came out as a lefty and switched to his normal throwing stance. That’s what confused the Cb’s.

Lamar has improved so much since he was rookie. Literally has added wrinkles to his game every year. This is the best Lamar we’ve ever seen. I sure he and the team are able to pull it out and hoist that SB trophy at the end of the year!

What I don’t understand is this: Lamar played in a pro-style offense at Louisville and could sling it. Then he gets to the combine/draft and everyone said he couldn’t throw/read a defense. Greg Roman’s offensive style only fuels the fire. But now that Lamar is put back in a pass- first offensive scheme, people’s minds are blown all of the sudden. Like if these people knew anything about Lamar coming out of college they easily would’ve seen his success coming.

Also Lamar has incredible spatial acuity and his brain is moving twice as fast as everybody else in the field. Those are insane intangibles

Some plays in the NFL you have to play off schedule. Sometimes the defense just wins. Lamar makes 2-3 plays a game when he does this. 49ers defense wins alot and it takes a special talent to overcome that.

Kurt I think Monken and the players are coming into SYNC. To hear Kurt say "great play design" is the biggest praise this offense has received all season.

I definitely think the gameplay against SF was to play off script. The film you broke down last week had a lot of tight throws if he played on schedule, and would have played into the hands of the SF defense with pass break ups. He’s been executing the heck out of the gameplan, which I think is why his team sings his praises so often

Lamar is probably the best dual threat in the league defense are scared to bite on his run he can just dot it down the field

I respect the Hall Of Famer for being consistent in his analysis of Lamar the past couple seasons. You can see his growth and trajectory. He is a phenomenal QB.

I didn't think there were nearly as many on schedule opportunities against SF, and the off schedule stuff is what broke them. I guess your somewhat vindicated by Lamar throwing his 3rd perfect passing day, matching your career doing it your way, but he has many styles and techniques that you can't coach or correctly comment on without sounding like a sneaky diss after dissecting the second best defense in football.

Been checking Todd Monken's stuff since his time w/ Jags in 00s. Followed his transition to Air Raid at OkSt and his beginning phase of combing Pro Spread & Power w/ Air Raid concepts at SMiss. Back to his buddy Koetter in the NFL with the Bucs where koetter would have a lot of say in the scheme. I really thought w/ the Browns we were going to see an evolved PSAR Pro (power spread air raid) style of scheme w/ Monken but that was a fiasco. But saw it w/ Georgia - hints of it anyway - though still mainly just a lot of cool play action / misdirection power with spread. FINALLY, I'm seeing what I was waiting for this year from Todd. Credit to coach Harbaugh letting him do his thing. It's getting a little DEBOER like w/ all the simple variety from week to week. Sometimes there's a lot of Air Raid design (finding the grass- space concepts). This film shows a lot more wco style (timing concepts) and his signature pa/md trickery. Really great stuff and great breakdown, Kurt! One more thought - few think of it seems - Air Raid concepts lead to Scramble Drills so it is perfect for a mobile QB... think about it... the air raid ideal already has a little improv incorporated in the scheme - receivers need to hunt for the space, not just run an exact route necessarily. The Scramble drill is simply an extension of "finding grass". Thus the WRs are doing a great job finding the grass when Lamar starts his scrambles. Check it any game this year on the Lamar scrambles...

Only 12 minutes when he do everything you thought he couldn't but 30 minutes when you want to point out any and everything you dont like bout his play style

Now he has slightly above average skill players and a competent offensive coordinator and what you know” he can pass consistently “ Kurt Warner is Big mad!!

The offense opened up once Andrews went down, now Lamar is throwing to the open guy instead of forcing it to his favorite target.

Is it me or has Lamar improved his release and release point of late? "Thing of beauty" - yes I agree.. if he has improved his release - who's resoponsible? I haven't detailed this idea w/ film - so maybe it was already better the last couple of yrs, but due to the simple executable design of this Pro/AR spread style scheme a QB can be very decisive and sometimes I confuse a quicker more efficient release w/ more decisvemess. but seems to me it's quicker and more efficient this year than ever before...?

The more ON schedule plays he makes, the better.. Ofcourse we know he can make Superman type plays. But you dont want to rely on that every game.

I enjoy hearing Kurt Warners takes on these types of things. Two time MVP and Super Bowl champion who was undrafted and came from nothing and arguably a top 10 all time QB. I trust his insight more than anyone else.

Remember in the offseason when Lamar wanted out of Baltimore and literally no other team made an offer. Ravens are glad they stuck with him. I wish him all the best for the post season!

This is the correct type of offense that needed to be installed from the beginning. It's closer to the 2017 "Mutiple" at Louisville than Roman's predictable runcentric. I witnessed this "future" of dual threat qb1s back in the 70's in the C.F.L. The Ravens finally handed in their homework 5 years later. All Lamar needed was time to study reps half decent weapons and a coordinator that believed in him and gave him some autonomy.

The only people say who Lamar isn’t MVP don’t look at anything besides box scores and even then their argument is flawed. 4500 yards, 29 TDs with a top 5 QBR and passer rating and bottom 3 in turnovers. How that isn’t MVP stats to some people is crazy to me.

People finally see louisville Lamar

This game just felt easy for Lamar. He made a couple of great throws but also had it quite easy overall. I more so credit the receivers/play design for the game.

The fact that a QB is going to win the MVP this season shows just how unbalanced voting is... I would give an O-lineman the MVP before any QB this season.

Dak for MVP, all of his stats are better overall than Lamar and Dak has been doing it with less. LAMAR WENT 2 FULL MONTHS THROWING ONLY 6 TD'S. That's over a 7 game stretch. Why in 2016 did Rodgers win it over Dak who had a better overall record and beat him head to head in the regular season?

Serious question here: Can someone explain to me why Lamar Jackson is the assumed winner of the MVP? I like Lamar but before his game with Miami he only had 19TDs and 7INTs. The Miami game was amazing but to me a player shouldnt win the MVP based on one performance. Lamar doesnt lead in any statistical category amd only has 24TDs on the year after the Miami game. I would just like to hear reasons why everyone is saying Lamar when his season has been less than spectacular. Honest responses I'd like to hear others POVs.

I've got much respect for Lamar. He's come a very long way and I won't dispute his being awarded MVP. But folks can't complain about it being a QB award when everything "truly spectacular" about Lamar has much to do with his running / escape ability. They're giving it to a RB, that has greatly elevated his game as a QB. 4K yds passing? 30+ TD passes? Top 3 Qbr? Top 3 passer rating? Comp %? Deep ball Comp %? Just to name a few..where does he rank in those QB stats? ... None of those stats are being thrown around because he probably doesn't rank in the top 3 for any of them. So hats off to him if he wins it because as a "dynamic player" he is ABSOLUTELY the most valuable, no doubt. But his stats as a QB (this year) simply don't support it. RBs don't lead their teams in passing yards and QBs don't lead their teams in rushing yards...or you got a serious mixup in personnel...but that's my opinion.

Jackson winning the MVP because the Ravens D has been great. Makes sense. Jackson has been good, but he has not been the best QB in the league this season, let alone the player most valuable to his teams chances.

So, looks like the MVP goes to a player who has a great game at the end of the season. Lots of players had great games that helped their teams win a game or two. I don't think there is a single MVP across the league.
