Guest Host Friday is back and today I am stoked to have brewing icon Garrett Oliver! He’s the brewmaster of Brooklyn Brewery, the author of the bestselling “The Brewmaster’s Table” and editor-in-chief of the bestselling “The Oxford Companion to Beer.” And on top of all that he’s the Founder and Chair, Michael James Jackson Foundation for Brewing and Distilling. This guy is busy! But he graciously took up the challenge of making the Lambwich from Williams’ Sandwich Recipes of 1974. And not only did he make a mean looking sandwich with excellent plus up, he brought his A-game with that shirt as well!

Thanks for the vid. THAT was terrific looking! No one does lamb any more and I ADORE it. Thank you Garrett for helping us out. I would agree that as much as I love onion half an onion is a LOT of onion on a single sandwich. The cumin was a great choice and the harissa was a brilliant choice. Peaceful Skies.

I love the addition of the guest hosts! He seems super friendly and intelligent! I can't believe the original recipe calls for a HALF onion and a WHOLE tomato on ONE sandwich?! WHAT?! Absolute madlad!! Seems like this would make 4 sandwiches, or a giant hoagie or something! Sounds tasty tho, especially with the Plus-Ups!

I am not familiar with Mr Oliver so his lack of Brooklyn/New York accent was a surprise. He sounds like he is from the mid-west.

This looks like something Shaggy & Scooby would build before asking the local monster if they had mustard. Love the plus ups, Going to have to try this myself once I can source some decent lamb.

I want it in a pita, but otherwise, yum, esp. with those plus ups! Great guest host!

Garrett Oliver, great episode of SoH!! As for the sandwich, absolutely delicious looking, I LOVE lamb and I'm sad that I have a hard time getting it here in my part of the US, and when I do it's super pricey! It would be worth it to do a plussed up version of this sandwich I bet it was great

Love lamb anything. Nice plus up Garrett. I make my own Harissa paste. Just Chili de Arbol simmered till soft and blended with cumin. No oil. Lasts forever in the fridge.

Cumin and lamb are just meant to be together. I love the vegetable toppings, the thick yogurt, and the harissa plus up. But I’d never eat half an onion on one sandwich! Also, I think the package would be better suited to being stuffed into a pita or wrapped in a fresh hot naan straight from the oven. Those are minor quibbles, though. But overall, that is one great sandwich, and I thank you both for the recipe.

I love lamb any way I can get it, including ground up! I would have plussed up with some Murray's brined feta and fresh dill.

That sandwich had a real Greek feel to it. Should be on a pita.

I wonder if it was referring to the outdoor cucumbers we get in Europe. They are much smaller than English cucumbers. I would have added mint sauce or mint jelly.

With the yogurt, I would have considered a more Greek-ish direction for the plus-ups with oregano, garlic, and a squeeze of lemon. Or maybe a more British direction with some mint jelly and big dollop of horseradish...

Wonderful! I think the original recipe wants to put too much soggy veggies and the bread can't handle it but it looked tasty especially after the plus ups

Excellent plus ups, I'd do s little lemon and dill to make a pseudo-tzatziki of the ingredients

There was enough filling for about 4 sandwiches.
@derekbroestler7687
@derekbroestler7687 15 дней назад
I THINK I get what the original creators of the sandwich were going for... I'm thinking a deconstructed gyro with the flavor of the spread and toppings APPROACHING tzatziki sauce and using leftover lamb sort of deal... but done THIS way, those plus ups are prolly MUCH better than the original. I especially like the harissa (a little spice makes the lamb nice).

Butter not an option in gyro. Olive oil garlic lemon juice oregano optionally thyme for the lamb rub. The other stuff he put on put it closer to a shawarma or a distant relative

Day 26 of asking Barry to make the sandwich I submitted!~~ I love guest host episodes! Even if it’s a gyro without tzatziki sauce; it still looks good! Garrett nailed the delivery of “give it a go”. Love the amount of personality delivered in just a few minutes. I bet this guy would be fun to have lunch with. Thanks for the video gentlemen!
