Lamy Fountain Pen vs Chinese Knock Off! 

The best way to fill a pen is to get a square of tissue, then put the NIB in the ink (Lamy 50ml bottles have a nice shape part for the nib to go into - I actually bought one bottle, and refill it with Quink for a cheap ink). Never get ink on your fingers, and the ink washes in through the nib so you don't have to start it up. Actually, the Chinese pens are great - and the Lamy nibs are swappable with them. Best look at ALIEXPRESS for this kind of stuff. Buy a new pen for every bottle of ink you buy ;)

I believe you should feel the converter inserting the nib and part of the section into the ink bottle. I've read somewhere that by taking the converter and putting it back in you could stress the end of the converter and wear it down. What a great video. I just don't see why not many people talk about Chinese pens. Yeah they are cheap but they look very nice, perform ok and are very cheap!

What a steal for only $2! I wouldn't be surprised if it is from the same factory that Lamy uses to make their pens, and you are getting it at wholesale prices sans the brand name.

Hi Marcia, Thanks for doing this fascinating video. All I can say is that this knock off is a bargain; nib writes well, an aluminium cap & barrel, they supply a convertor & all for under a couple of bucks [WOW!]. Lamy charge too much for their pens then expect you to pay for a convertor on top. Don't worry about having ink covered fingers [it is a badge of honour]. It is better if you leave the convertor attached to the feed and submerge your nib into the ink. Saves all that shaking the pen to get it started.

I have several of the Jinhao pens, the nibs even swap with the Lamy nibs, but tend to write drier when on a Safari. They are clearly cheaper and less durable than the Lamy Safari pens. But for the price - very serviceable and cannot complain at all as the price of a converter alone for a Lamy is equal to two of these with converters - delivered. I harvest no flies issues with mine at all (I have 6). Also I don't consider it a "knockoff" as mine are actually branded Jinhao and none of them pretend to be Lamy pens.

If you are sketching outside or traveling, it makes a good pen that you don’t have to worry much about losing.

Knock off one is better than the other I think.

That's a Wing Sung 6359 pen. I have one with a Lamy 1.1 nib that I swapped on to it. I also have one with a Wing Sung extra fine nib that came with the pen. Both write really well.

Bonjour how are you doing? I'm a 30 years old French dude and since I'm 6 years old I've been writing with fountain pens. I've never seen someone be so brutal using one of these, the tip is very fragile you need to be delicate and apply almost no pressure at all except for calligraphy but you're still delicate. I've been using Waterman fountain pens since I'm 14 years old and there's no equivalent 🇫🇷made quality🇫🇷

I bought a two pack of Chinese knock off’s at the lobby safari at five below for three dollars! They are the best writing pens in my entire collection! :-) Now that I bought and I’ve gone back to five below several times and they do not ever have them on the shelf, I wonder why! :-)?

Wingsung 6359 is another Lamy knockoff and you can swap the nib for a Lamy nib. Most (not an expert) Wingsungs can use Lamy nibs but look it up because some use a Pilot style nib. And, no you are not messy. I always get the Noodlers all over me. The top of the box says "Gloves, dumb dumb" in Sharpie. I'm ok with anything else.
