I'm still listening to this in 2023. Lana, you blew this out the water! I'm not even from SA, but this song and your rendition gave me hope for a better world.
I am a Kenyan who went to flight school in South Africa. The first time I went to South Africa I was mugged at gun point in Jozi CBD but I love South Africa . I am obsessed with Springboks rugby team, curry cup, super rugby, I even support South Africa sevens when playing against my own country.I have this anthem memorized. My perfect vacation is singing this anthem at a Springbok game. I wish the few xenophobic SouthAfricans knew how good of a country you have and that us fellow Africans have nothing but love for ya’ll.
Omg yes! So many South Africans take their beautiful country for granted. I can safely say I'm envious of the life there lol. Just look at the strong economy man, just 16R to 1 usd?🤯 Love from Tz🇹🇿♥️🇿🇦
South africans who dont know their history are the biggest stumbling blocks for progress. I have two uncles who had to flee the country during apartheid because they were seen as enemies of the state because of their resistance to apartheid. One was received by Zambia and the other by Kenya. They ended up being welcomed and made families in both countries. Our people dont know Africans were a refuge when the apartheid government was hanging freedom fighters in Pretoria. I love my Zambian and Kenyan family and it's a shame you were treated harshly on what is all our motherland. I dream of a day when we can all embrace each other, fellow africans including white africa. We are all on this earth together. It's sad that can be divided by borders and skin color so easily.
@@danielsummerton2259 But is the country now better? I understand that no civil rights and racism are dumb and not understandable things, but economically and under safety aspects the life for the average black man isn't better today! A peaceful transition, to a ruling Boer government, but without racism would have been far better. Look at Johannesburg today, look at Johannesburg 40 years ago....
Its magic. I get the same feeling I hear it everytime. We were just there. We went to Robben Island and saw Mandellas cell. It was totally humiliating. Empty but for a rug and little else and hot. That he could transcend under these circumstances and not show utter hatred to his captors shows how the spirit can rise above all else. My greatest respect to him. I just did not realize what he went through.
I hope that he is getting better. There is always hope with the advancement of medicine. I heard that they have just discovered a new medication last week.
very good national anthem, an inclusive one - that they included the language of their oppressors is a testament to their forgiveness. This is a nation for the future, built not on revenge nor on hate, but on respect.
It is Indeed an inclusive anthem. I don't see that spirit of inclusion in the rhetoric of Julius malema, the chant 'kill the Boer,' or the ethnic cleansing of white farmers.
Show some respect for Ireland too that was the day we defeated south africa for the first time in south africa and that same year we defeated the all blacks for the first time in history in Chicago 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Amazing National Anthem, that bring different races together as one in difficult time.... The New Zealanders have the "Haka"...but the South Africans have the "National Anthem"!

@@anthonychilders9549 I think the anc is basically set to stay in power forever, and with the influence they have, I'm sure they could get away with banning EFF is it posed a real threat to their perpetual government
Oh bugger off Anthony - we're all here enjoying our anthem and then you come and spread division. Mzansi is awesome. Go complain about politics somewhere else
Ethan reckons that he wouldn't really like bad weird European woman because um locked up in a room no one told him that by ayla or ssndy winstanley then sandy allowed a evole creature to say I own yourself thankyou for your time owning the aboriginal land
Wow-gave me goosebumps. Those are people who have genuine pride in their country. Not like in the United States. I stopped watching professional sports over a year ago because of the kneeling during the National Anthem. I am a Vietnam vet (Navy). My father was a Korean War vet (Marines). My grandfather was a WWI vet (Army) and my great-grandfather was a Spanish-American War vet (Army). I am more than a little sensitive over this. However, if I saw these U.S. athletes singing our National Anthem with the same pride exhibited by the South African athletes and the people in the stands, I would gladly start watching professional sports again. Sadly, I don’t believe this will happen. By the way, I do miss watching these sports. Breaks my heart.
Woow so many white europeans representing south africa...i never liked rugby ,seems colonisers sports...but that anthem gives goosebumps..the apartheid and colonisation the natives south africans experienced and how forgiving they are. ..i thank God im not from SA ,i wouldnt forgive that easily those who stole my land n killed my people.
