If you enjoy her storytelling you should definitely listen to her albums in order. Ride is definitely a must watch, but you should probably watch Blue Jeans next because it ties into Born to Die.

Lana is a mezzo-soprano, which basically means she can hit the notes of an alto as well as a soprano, she has a broad range and she’s usually most comfortable in the middle range/chest voice but does use her head voice often. (Just in case no one answered your question in the beginning of the video!)

Lana and her team used to be worried she wouldn’t be “taken seriously” if she sang in her head voice. A lot of her earlier music is in her chest voice but the more recent stuff has her experimenting with the other side of her range! Examples being beautiful and sweet Carolina from bb

Off To The Races is a perfect example of Lana using different tones and textures of her voice for her storytelling in her songs. It’s still my favorite song of hers, before it I had never heard any other “pop” song like it before!

i think the "choose your last words" is more like a "this is your last chance to do right". also a lot dont seem to notice this "funfact" or a dark one, but in the intro the guy says "louder" and lana says "who me?" but at the outro, he shouts it but she never responds because she's dead..

Loved the reaction! I have the same interpretation and really enjoyed how you discussed her lyrics. If you're able to react to full albums I'd really recommend listening to Lana's in order. They all have a different vibe and story which I think you'd love (e.g. Born to Die is all about the toxic relationship you saw here). BUT if you are only interested in doing one song at a time, I think Ride or Young and Beautiful would be some good ones from around the same time as this one!

Great reaction and analysis, you got it at the first time. The next one could be Blue Jeans, because it kind of pairs with this one (even with the same guy in the video). Also 'National Anthem' and 'Ride' are both great for a visual and artistic experience and 'Off To The Races' to hear her different singing voices. All of these songs are from the same album.

this song is still till this day one of her best ones. the whole lyrical content is a huge existential metaphor about life and, at the same time, the description of that relationship. It really showcase perfectly her ablitys. Great reaction!

You should definitely listen to her albums. You'll find lots of lyrical treasures in each of the album. The best part of listening to albums in the order they were released is that you can see her projection on events of her life, relationships, fame, breakups, etc. IMHO, you should check at least Ultraviolence and NFR albums

i’ve been waiting for your lana arc for so long!! national anthem is another really fun video to watch. Off to the Races doesn’t have a music video but is one of the coolest songs i’ve ever heard (i went to a concert several albums later where she still closed with it, it’s that good). And Ride is a combo of a great video and great lyricism

oh this was a good one!! I really loved this reaction and how you interpreted the song! What has always characterized Lana have been her lyrics, they are so descriptive but at the same time mysterious, everyone interprets them in a different way and I love that, please more videos of Lana!!! You will not only enjoy watching very special music videos, but you will also listen to beautiful songs with a unique tone of voice and really great lyrics. I - JUST - LOVE - TO - SEE - PEOPLE - DISCOVERING - LANA - FOR - THE - FIRST - TIME! 😂 oh men you're in for a ride!... What can you do next??? there's so much! if you loved this one, the RIDE video will blow your brain. The whole Ultraviolence album is a sublime experience (that's my favorite one of all), such as Honeymoon and Norman Fucking Rockwell. It's hard to pick, you should check everything from her! every album from Lana is a gift.

I think you should do "Blue jeans" next then "Shades of cool". "Blue jeans" has the same guy in MV. There are metaphors in these three songs that are connected. So It would be amazing to check out

9:37 you need to watch a movie called Mommy (2014), it ends with Born To Die playing in the background, the scene is extremely impactful and moving. You really need to watch it, I'm sure you'll love it

they way she sings is simply lana del rey and if you notice it, there is a lot of people in the industry influenced by her style now-days, she changed the whole scenario with born to die back in the 2010s it was definitely a cultural reset, sad-pop became a thing and now we have the sadboys and trappers singing about wanting to die playing on the radio and also halsey or billie or melanie martinez or even bigger artists like Taylor's folklore

Done that, been there... too often. And now I'm a depressed lonely spinster >-< Don't play with fire, you can't control it. You're young and think everything is possible, but life can actually be dangerous... You can't heal from every trauma. Sometimes it's just too much... I'm just happy, none of these guys actually killed me (happens way too often).

I dont know is you know who Angelina Jorden is but if not you need to hear her version of this song. She did at age 11 or 12 years old. You will be hooked AJ does many covers like 150 before age 13 and had an original song or 2 plus won Norways got talent at age 8 and wrote and published a book by 9 years old she now has over 180 covers and 5 originals. And she is only 16 currently in 2022 ,

Wouldn’t say that all of her music is like this. Her style changes from an album to album basis. Strongly recommend doing an album listen but with the music videos where they exist.

Thanks for this reaction :) To explain Lana's voice: Her voice is a Contralto, which is the lowest female register; you can have alto 1 and 2. I'm a 1 and I suspect Lana is because we can hit higher and lower notes than the alto 2s, but when she hits the 'near bass but not' then that is alto 2 range; still she can also hit a 'high' 1 in this song, too. She has a great range - I suspect between low 2 and high 1. Hope that helps but I can't read music; I am in a very good choir, though, and am a very good singer. I adore singing this cos it stretches my alto range, and it's an amazing song. I recommend altos sing this to practice.
