Well the writers were not going to do away with one of the main tenents of the Superman mythology; he ending up with Lois Lane. Clana was a ship that was doomed to fail.

Another aspect that I love about these old shows is that you can't binge-watch them in one night. You'd have to wait every week to watch one episode, which only made the show more desirable to watch and people less concerned with show-related addictions. I miss that era and the flavour of nostalgia that it evokes.

You would clearly remember the characters names cause you talk about it with your family or friends. Unlike today with fast watching a show till end, you barely remember them. Good old times ☺

No, they don't. Clark is with Lois. The writers made the mistake of going overboard with Clark/Lana and giving people like you false hope. They also forgot to give Lana an actual purpose on the show other than just being the "love interest." Chloe and Lois were the heroines.

Sure, Lois will always be the one for Clark, but here they show that Lana was before Lois. It shows Clark's early life, as meeting Lois came later, and what mostly happens in real life with real couples. Maybe you're stuck on Clark being with Lois only, but its not as if I said "these two SO need to be together" forever. There wasn't a time limit in my statement, and the writers gave me no "false hope" like you said. You only think they did, which makes that just an opinion on your part, and pretty much wrong as you have no idea what I expected from the show. Real couples, as well as fictional ones, don't always work out with each other. Its a journey that everyone goes on, as demonstrated here. 🙂

Smallville creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough recently admitted that they inadvertently dragged out the Clark/Lana storyline too long, saying that it was "probably a three season love story we told over six seasons." Clark's feelings for Lana had nothing whatsoever to do with any of the stuff you mentioned. It had to do with Kristin's popularity and the network's unwillingness to have Clark move on from Lana due to the fear that if they broke up Clark and Lana, fans would stop watching, conveniently forgetting that Lana was always meant to be the girl who gets left behind and that she was never the love of Clark's life. Smallville not only dragged Clark and Lana's storyline out too long, they elevated Lana to a level of overstated importance that she simply does not occupy in the comics. The show had Clark doing stupid things and compromising himself for Lana long past the point where she was even relevant in his storyline. By season 5 that relationship had played itself out and no longer served any purpose as Lana did not fit into Clark's post-high school storyline. But that's typical WB-writing for you. The producers assumed that every WB show had to be like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dawson's Creek, which is why Lana ended up being such a poorly written character.

@@44excalibur Like I said, "its a journey that everyone goes on". Sometimes you become close with someone and think things will happen and be something more. People drag out the friendship/relationship and over time it does turn into something special, or it does not. Plenty of TV shows drag out characters relationship. Its normal. There will always be the "what could have been" and "what should have been" topics. One thing that will always be constant is that both TV shows and movies will change scenes from original source materials. Adaptations based on superhero comics are a perfect example. You say if Clark "would've broken up with Lana much sooner if they were a real couple", but truthfully you don't know that. Every friendship/relationship goes through phases, the same as with real couples. This is Clark and Lana in the early years. They are growing up and learning. Thats life. 🙂

@@b.y.o.p.9035 Yes, I do know that. The writers now admit that they should have ended Clark/Lana sooner and dragging the relationship out actually hurt the show. It arrested Clark's growth and development as a character and his evolution into Superman, and it undermined Clark's other relationships with Chloe and Lois. The writers also admitted that they wished they had been more adventurous with the other relationships instead of focusing so much on Lana. As I said, Lana serves no purpose in Clark's story after high school ends. Chloe and Lois are reporters, detectives, and heroines, and fit into Clark's post-high school storyline better, while Lana had no natural place there and was only defined by her relationships. She's a boring character.

It comes down to both of them being perfect for one another as people and the only thing that got to n the way was his youth and his secret, he was too young to trust his secret with anyone who didn't find out on their own and who he wasn't insecure about if they found out, Lana being his massive love, he was youthfully insecure about how she would take it. In the end despite these things their lov we was so great they would've been together but for her Kryptonite infused skin suit and terrible writing a as well as plot inevitability in the form of LL. Th we chemistry between these 2 was tangible, it wasn't with LL, it felt like friends and acted intimacy rather than natural.

These writers left after season 7 and quite frankly their obsession with Kristen Kreuk is extremely creepy. Nothing about the way the Clois story was written suggests he 'settled' for her. This shipping war bullshit is patethic and it's so tiresome seeing you idiots peddle it constantly. I bet not a single one of you has ever been in a real relationship before.
