I started watching the TdF in 1994 when Indurain was on top, and I watched all Lance's tours. These guy inspired me to take up recreational cycling and I got super fit and healthy because of it. This year, I'm 64, I tried one big mountain stage in France (Alpe D'Huez). The hardest physical challenge I've ever done. It was brutal. These guys ride over two other mountains AND do the Alpe, and that's just 1 stage out of 21. I had massive respect for these guys before, but after trying a stage myself... these guys are super human and I have nothing but admiration for them.

Jan Ulrich, Armstrongs long term adversary, was struggling over the last years: depression, drugs, alcohol and family left him. Only a few people remained with him. Once Armstrong heard of him struggling, he was there too.....He visited him multipel times, organised a stay in a drug addiction center and simply looked after him. That's who Lance Armstrong is.....

Ask Frankie Andreu and his wife who Lance Armstrong is. Ask any other victim of Armstrong who he had vilified and humiliated. . Dozens, maybe hundreds, of former teammates, opponents and associates who received the Armstrong treatment, presumably for not going along with the program. "He gave me the firm, hard push and a shove," Mike Anderson said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "Made my life very, very unpleasant. It was an embarrassment for me and my family to be portrayed as liars, to be called a disgruntled employee, implying there was some impropriety on my part. It just hurt. Despite the doping which everyone did and probably still do, I still think Lance remains one of the most incredible people in sports. What is asked of these incredible athletes who participate in probably the most gruelling and underpaid sport ever is ludicrous . No other athlete in the sport was able to bring so many people into it and promote it like he did. Maybe that’s why he was chosen to be the scapegoat for all the doping that was going on. Lance inspired me and helped me with my recovery of testicular cancer and was a great source of motivation. My wife had given me his book to read while I was going through chemotherapy and when I learned he was coming to my home town, I went to see him and he autographed it. The tour was never the same without him. Thanks Lance!

To this day he rides a bike at 89, with the small diffenence that he changed race bike to 3-wheeler, after he had fallen off a bike and broke his arm. I remember when I was a kid, there have been 2 tv at his place. One would be set to EuroSport 24/7 playing Tour de France, Tour de Pologne or Giro D'Italia. Second for the rest of family to use ;)

My dad was a professional cyclist for many years. What Lance is saying is 100 percent true about EPO, you have to be naive to not think that top tier athletes have been using doping methods even this till day (EPO, blood transfusions, testosterone, human growth hormone). His competitors in his era was completely filled to the gills with it, and he dominated all of them, his mindset and genetic ability is what made him a grand tour freak (7 Tour de France's). Lance transformed the cycling industry in the United States and his foundation revolutionized cancer research. He's a bad ass.

It is hard to find anything likeable about Lance after all the layers of his bad doings. Everyone can make mistakes but his rises to the same level of the worse I think. Thats the one thing about arrogance and narcissism it allows the one in question to go on and have a quality of life that someone with true remorse goes into total seclusion or commits suicide. Best wishes even to him!

I defended him for years. Pretty sure he was the most tested athlete at one point. But I could never have anticipated the level of corruption, stopped watching cycling and didn't start until Froome was on his way out. The major thing for me was the corruption and the lying at the end. But he is redeemed now. Still a big hero and inspiration of mine in some ways.

That's not what it's about. It's the fact that he's a terrible human being. I've met hundreds of celebrities through my occupation and he's easily the worst. He has the same gene that serial killers have where there's no empathy or accountability. If it seems as if he does, it's just an insincere put-on. One of my interactions with him was where he and a friend were biking on a road side by side...with traffic coming the other way, there was (no exaggeration) 20 cars going 10 mph stuck behind him. He was carrying on a conversation with the rider next to him with no concern at all for everyone behind him. In that situation, cyclists are supposed to go single file. He fits the definition of narcissistic psychopath. It's a good thing he decided to go into cycling rather that serial killing.

If that’s true then I say good for him. Additionally Lance is still the biggest donor and doesn’t collect any money from the foundation he started. The facility doesn’t even have any pictures of Lance bc of the negative publicity. Everyone has skeletons in their closet it’s just that Lance’s was broadcast to the whole world
