The late great Warren Oates, left us way too soon. Those were the days when these character actors had character. Could make multiple appearances on the same show and always fun to watch. Great video as always, capturing the essence.

This is one song I play often it reminds me of two friends but also of the true story of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. Which Garrett did ambush the kid, this is why i like the song, did Garrett do it for fame and money?

scgreetings, Pat didn't do it for money or fame. He did it because it was job. Billy was on the wrong side of the law and had to be stopped. Their friendship became strained when Pat put on that badge. It was downhill from the there and could only end in one way. Which it did. Friendship can only go so far . When two people go in opposite directions, it is bound to end in tragedy. Someone had to stop Billy and who better than Pat. That was why Pat did: to put an end to Billy's murdering people.
