One time many years ago I did a front brake pad swap on a 1985 corvette. For reasons unknown to me I put the pads on backwards! Metal to rotor and pad to caliper. It actually appeared to work on the first test drive. Was driving it to work and the left side started making crazy noise and smoking. Called my dad to come help (I was in Florida rush hour traffic). I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw what I did. So,,,,I guess you can fit lots of things in a caliper but it may not always work! I’m glad you are getting it back on the road. Can’t wait to go wheeling again!!!!

Great video im currently in the process of replacing my pads and rotors. I read 100 series last longer but didnt know it at the time. Those are some nice tires!

i am curious what your doing for winter prep - do you have a block heater on the land cruiser ? your videos convinced me that i need something more robust than a F150 (my 23 F150 gave me a bunch of problems with less than 3k miles on it) so I just got a '23 4Runner TRD Offroad - I'll be moving up to the valley in Late March/April and was wondering what block heaters are available for the 1GR. Was surprised to see how big Toyotas were in Alaska.

For what it is worth, I have used various block heaters and find the easiest and best ones, are the ones you place on the bottom of oil pan. They keep the oil warm and seem to be as effective as any others used and much easier to install. Basically just place them on pan and your done. Good luck.

I never measured how wide they are, but the cheapest 100 series pads from RockAuto always fit my 80. Maybe my rotors are worn down more than yours lol.

I have a couple of sets in my parts drawer. The 100 series (off brand) measure about 18mm without anti-squeel spacer plates. The 80 series pads measure around 15mm with the anti-squeel shim. So if you are installing new rotors, the 100 series pads might not fit. If your rotors are worn down, or have been turned the 100 pads will probably fit.

"it's still to thick" That is what she said...

Not a Toyota expert, but there's probably a difference in the calipers. FMSI numbers on the pads are different because of the difference in thickness/shape. FMSI 772 for the front of a '99 model, FMSI 502 for the front of a '96 model. I'm not a fan of rebuilt hydraulics. Use new if your budget allows.
