Absolutely spot on , I’ve owned a Range Rover velar now for seven years, now thinking of upgrading to the sport or the full size Range Rover, in those seven years I’ve never had one issue , always maintained , going to Land Rover next week as it happens for a full service . The people who buy these cars on a shoestring and can’t afford to run them or maintain them are the only reason they become unreliable, look at me I’ve got a Range Rover syndrome, got no intention of looking after them or maintaining them it’s all about image and ego with these kind of people, then when the car goes wrong and it costs thousands to repair these people are the first ones to splash it all over the internet that Range Rover is unreliable, crap car , blah blah blah , same old story. Myself I think they are an excellent car , excellent on and off road , proper luxurious workhorse, and motorway cruiser , as for off road ability , well not much comes even remotely close , personally I wouldn’t have anything else but Range Rover .

The transfer case fluid is simple to replace as well as the differential fluids. It’s the transmission fluid that more complicated but still doable at home. All this advice is really sound though. People are just unrealistic about required maintenance.

I think you’re right there so my apologies, transmission is the one that needs to be done on the machine! 🤦‍♂️ thanks for correcting that for me bud 👍

Sage advice from the best L494 channel out there. Main Dealer Warranty including Assist and MOT Cover coupled with Service Plan gives me peace of mind. Also, invest in your relationship with the After Sales Customer Care Manager. Buy cheap, pay twice. I love my SDV6, but like you, hanker a SVR V8, but don’t have deep enough pockets, but a man can dream! Cut your suit according to your cloth. My Approved Warranty has paid out over £2k for no quibble rear diff seal replacement and new alternator. 👍

Honest and straightforward! Only advise you need really when considering RR! They really are great cars, most people who buy them brand new are just not going to be bothered about maintenance so by the time they are in the secondary markets they need the maintenance

Some excellent advice. I've owned a new Range Rover Velar 2019 which I replaced with a new Sport in 2023. Obviously fully serviced at main dealer. Have I had a problem? No. Absolutely fault free, although I have been subjected to numerous recalls. These cars, if serviced properly can represent excellent value.

Did you like the Velar? I’ve got one now had it about 14 months and like you I’m considering the sport next

@@Manos-de-Piedra I do like the Velar, its a lovely looking car and the infotainment looks nice, the Sport is a nice step up in drive and feel for sure

@@GregandCraigsGarage Yep definitely mate it looks really slick but the RRS is a step up and a noticeable size difference both looking from the outside and actually driving them both, My velar is a 2018 plate R Dynamic it’s only got 40k mileage so hopefully will get a decent price for it when I come to sell it next year

Your on one there bud . Wee rant 😅 but true . Have mine 2 months V6 petrol supercharge. It's ok with fuel. But as you say you know that . Also off a dealer. But they were crap. So goes to show . Be a Indp next time . Keep them up videos

Excellent content as always mate, keep it up 🙏🏼 In your experience is it better to get a newer one (20/21 plate) with higher miles (60k) or slightly older (18 plate) with less miles (30k)? Cheers pal 👍🏼

Thank you pal! 👍 I’d go with your preference mate, Mileage worries some people and age others. If you do lots of miles I would old go higher mileage away. Personally I’d have the later car I think

Great video any other similar car for around 20k that offer the same luxury but more reliable 🤔
@GregandCraigsGarage

I am planning a video on this, there are few in the same age range that compete with the Range Rover, but you might consider the Mercedes, bmw x5, Audi q7 or the Porsche cayenne, in my experience the x5 is the most reliable on average but still not a cheap car if something substantial lets go. I do think the Range Rover is a bit of a stand alone for this era though. Thanks for watching mate and I hope that helps answer your question 👍

Any warranty company you recommend in UK? Is WarrantyWise any good?

I bought a 2107 RR Sport td6 dynamics a year ago through an auction the car had 7000miles on the clock certified, good price, now 17000 on the clock, not a bit of bother, no failures, 26 mpg urban 32 long run. Tyre wear minimal, the tread is 5.5mm left after 17k miles, it is due a service in January. Why should the transfer box oil have tho be changed after 6 years and the timing chain renewed when the car has only covered 17k miles? These parts are wear dependant which is proportional to hours run not age. I will probably get it done, as an engineer I want to know why.
@GregandCraigsGarage
@GregandCraigsGarage 2 дня назад
Thanks for the comment pal 👍 Age is a common killer of perishables as you probably already now, tyres crack with age as do bets and oil degrades, if not for that reason, any warranty will want to know routine maintenance items are done on time or you risk voiding a claim.
