Very informative, thank you. I personally have never liked Key less go, I managed to spec my last Golf GTI performance pack 2019 without it. I could be wrong, but I think most people would prefer not to have these theft issues if the only down side was an extra 3 seconds to push the door unlock button.
VW keyless entry can be disabled by locking the car with the key button then straight away putting your finger end on the indent on the door handle. This pauses the lock cycle for a second then carries on locking. Then the car can only be opened by pressing the key only.
Keyless Go is the height of laziness. I said years ago in 2002 when looking at a MERCEDES SL55 AMG the manufacturers should put an ON OFF switch on the key fobs. It would have ended the keyless go thefts overnight. Why don't manufacturers put a finger print sensor on cars or face recognition?? That's pretty secure. Tesla have similar tech and don't suffer thefts like JLR do
Totally agree; I had a Ghost II fitted as soon as I bought mine and I keep the keys in a Faraday pouch. Takes a few seconds longer to start the car with a Ghost but that’s a small price to pay for the peace of mind. The annoying thing is insurers don’t seem to want to give you any credit for it.
I prefer Pandora then Ghost, with Ghost they gain access but cannot start the car. With Pandora the second the door is open the alarm will go off and without the pandora tag the car will not start. Oh and forgot to mention if you have pandora and you get car jacked you can kill the engine by your phone.
The focus should be on the police ability to curb the crime. It's unbelievable how cars (big bulky objects) are being taken out of the country in such numbers. It's a disgrace. What else is going out without notice?
Police 🤷🏻♂️, your insured, your ok 👍 Only when the kick backs from the insurance companies stop to the police and they start screaming murder because there’s a epidemic of thefts then they will get involved, but as they will claim, resources are tight and sometimes crime it not singular so they may be in pre sting watching/monitoring “ following the money” so intention to stop it when detected is dependent on operation , remember police keep proceeds of crime 🤷🏻♂️ helps towards there budget, they will decide on actions to take, actions = end results Unfortunately car crime can be more or equally as lucrative to drug market but your get less time in prison for it if caught, Fact 🤷🏻♂️
I entirely agree with you...I'm guessing these are organised groups operating around London, observing peoples movements and picking there moment . Waisting your time with the police nowadays...all you get is a crime number. I feel so strongly about this I'm trying to invent some methods of anti- theft.
@@richardturner587fella don’t waste your time honestly, insurance companies are scams in there own respect, if you were to see how complicit they’re with Credit Hire Car Companies and you were to do some deep research into it, they condemn! with one hand then recommend with the other, it’s utter disgusting the money being milked and milked from the insurance pot we all pay into 😡
It's physically impossible for the police to stop every crime before it happens. They'd have to be stationed everywhere at all times, which is just unrealistic.
No shit Sherlock. It the police that don't give a damn f***k even if your car gets stolen. Even if you have clear CCTV footage of the incident - they're not interested at all. That's the problem, ok?
That's exactly what it is my friend. The cars are utter junk. Engines, petrol and diesel, fall to bits for fun, as well as the rest of the things that go wrong with them. They're stolen for the parts. Eventually people will learn. I've just renewed my traders policy and was asked if I worked on Range Rovers. Not a problem for me never to work on one again to be honest. Any keyless entry vehicle regardless of make is asking for it. Why on earth does anyone risk it. Beyond me.
@@mramg6038 don’t think so. Land Rovers still come worse in every independent reliability survey. Thankfully they have good coffee at the Land Rover dealers as most owners spend a lot of their time there 😂
I feel for those poor people having to put their Ferrari on the drive and the LR in the garage, I hope one day they can afford a double garage! Stay strong you will get through this!
I don't really get why they are doing it at all. Installing a bollard is quick and easy. And it helps to protect the Ferrari too. You can almost get one installed in the time you wait for your insurance company to pick up the phone.
Good video. I nearly had my RS5 stolen in Birmingham 2 weeks after I’d bought it. Luckily a neighbour scared them off at 4am. I immediately went out and bought a Ghost. About a year later a bunch of thieves attempted to steal it again but when they attempted to start it they couldnt so scarpered. Best £500 i’ve spent. Brilliant product
Had two landrovers in the last 15 years and had no problems with either for the two years I owned each of them . The Mercedes I have had for a year has had two faults with it. Battery and airbag issues.
I've never understood why keyless entry and go is bundled up as a standard feature. There are many people like me who would rather not have it at all. Are we so busy that we can't even manually unlock and/start our cars anymore that it's become such a chore that we have to offload that procedure to a computer?
Agreed. It is absolutely crazy to think that in this day and age when cars are so sophisticated, fully loaded with features, that they can be stolen as easily as picking apples.
I have cars with and without keyless entry / go. If I had never had it I wouldn't miss it, but honestly, the car without it 'drives' me nuts... A level of first world convenience I guess.
I refuse to buy cars with keyless entry, I won't even use NFC on my phone for purchases. I've worked in tech since the 90's, currently a tempest red/black specialist for the MoD, and most modern systems can be bypassed or compromised in the blink of an eye. It never ceases to amaze me how many people put convenience over security, and they only learn the lesson the hard way. It certainly limits the vehicles and products that I'll lay money down for, but then I've never had a car stolen nor have I ever had my bank accounts compromised. Less is more in the tech industry, which is the reason why simple air gaps are the only way to secure sensitive networks; if it isn't connected, it can't be hacked.
I think it's more about not having to rummage through your pockets or handbag, especially when you have your hands full with shopping bags, or laptop bag, work stuff etc.
@@tutamiah6697 Agree, but at the point when manufacturers cottoned on to the fact the Keyless was a large contributor to a whole slew of thefts, maybe they should have stood up and taken note then? Can you imagine ticking all of the option boxes for a fully loaded new car, including the 'Easy Steal' option.. LOL. Crazy eh?
Here in 🇨🇦, our RR was stolen 3 months ago. New one @ dealership with compustar aftermarket immobilizer installed. Holding off delivery until our driveway has been retrofitted with retractable bollards. New video security installed, including nighttime floods…. Without addition of compustar, insurance premiums would be increased by a factor of 3. Installed, it’s paid for itself in 8 months crazy stuff.
Don't rely on those pouches, they're good for added protection, but the thieves can take these cars off the street without the key signal on most cars now
It's time to go back to basics, and the drawing board I think...too much technology that's not working, remember thieves are usually ahead of latest gadgets and info. Something revolutionary needed here!
I work about a mile from the Solihull factory, and most of the people who work there wouldn't recommend anybody to buy them! I know someone senior at JLR who gets a new company vehicle every year or so. The last one he had broke down twice in the first few months and stranded him, the second time it cut out dead in the fast lane of the motorway, didn't even go into limp mode, just stopped. Luckily he managed to coast over to the hard shoulder. I recently drove past the back entrance to the factory and saw a Discovery towing a trailer with another Discovery on it. I thought 'what a good idea, tow a spare one so you can swap to that one when the one you're driving breaks down, which it probably will'. 😆. They're beautiful cars, but until they can actually make them reliable so people are less tempted to steal them to break for spares I'll stick to my Audis.
I renewed my Van insurance in September, and the Insurer told me they stopped insuring Range Rovers in London, and Motorcycles are next, he said a Full Licence is required now to insure ANY motorcycle, and it will be very expensive even with a Full Licence!!!!!!
The simplest and easiest way to stop this is a fuel pump cutoff switch. Hop in, start the car and get about 100m down the road. That’s it. All my past and present vehicles have one fitted.
Hi, got a ghost fitted on my sports car last year, very comforting to know the car will still be sitting where I park it no matter where, like anything else , the code pressing sequence becomes 2nd nature after a while, but as u mentioned I had to also install a tracker for the insurance company to recognise my added security.
I sold my Range Rover P400E last month .I am outside London . My insurance went from £450 per year to £2700 and I have over 25 years no claims and no endorsements . I contacted 14 insurance companies and only 3 would insure it but the premiums were thousands . I must admit I saw the crash in values on Range Rovers coming so I jumped quick ! I would love to buy another but won’t while thefts are high and they are easy to steal thus uninsurable. I have had 17 Range Rovers since my first in 1988. Being in the autumn of my life I can’t see me owning another . Very sad , come on JLR step in and resolve your car security issues . Customers will still buy If you scrap keyless go ! That seems to be where the problem lies .
Sounds to me like the Land Rover dealers need to be fitting Ghost to all their vehicles if they want to start selling again, and work with the insurance industry to recognise the product, if it is as good as you say.
Problem is once ghost ubiquitous and the supply of nicked cars drops off, the thieves will spend time and resources on getting round it! Many of these vehicles are taken by organised gangs that, given the money involved, really do have substantial resources, they have access to technical people that will work for the highest bidder... The Ghost system will eventually be cracked, and then it'll be open season again. It's really down to the manufacturers to take security properly seriously... Nothing else is going to do it long term...
I live in Coventry, another hot-spot for thefts, especially with JLR's HQ being here too. I have now ghosted my Defender and can now feel safe at night. Brilliant invention whoever created it.
A guy I work with (Salford area) has a ghost on his M2, brilliant until one morning 3 men armed with machetes threatened him his wife and 2 kids. If they want something badly enough they will take it regardless. Luckily they was caught and got jail time but they were still traumatised.
@@macky4074 That's horrible to hear brotha. Me personally, if that was me, I'd hand them the keys and nothing else. If they (thieves) dont recieve the ghost passcode, the computer will tell the engine it won't go anywhere.
I own a discovery 2017 plate, live in London, had my first own stolen, replaced it with another added a ghost 2 and turned keyless off. Ended up finding someone sat in the car at my sons 10day old appointment outside of Croydon Hospital... Proved it works and I believe has saved it a number of times. However, fed up of it now. Can't insure it as they want £3k and prices of plummeted so I'm about to SORN it and drive my farther in-laws car. Its mental and completely crazy that we have to do this. Land Rover will go under if they aren't carefull. Tried to sell it this week and Land Rover now state that all dealers have to go through them to price any vehicles... seems like somebody is panicking
I want to buy a RR SDV8, but cannot get insurance for love or money, even when a Ghost immobiliser and Tracker is fitted. I live in South Pembrokeshire. The theft issue is the cause. LR RR need to get a grip on this problem. Disabling keyless features (what a stupid idea anyway!) and blocking the diagnostics port may be part of the solution?
Is putting an extra aftermarket alarm/anti theft system on a Range Rover such a big problem in the UK ? In many countries around the world it is the norm…
Yes. Problem is the our authorities and videos like this give poor advice to the public. They tell everyone to hide their keys or use Faraday pouches which is obviously not not good advice considering in most cases they're taken without the key signal.
Exactly what we need, a considered and well balanced video. Thank you. I was literally on the cusp of purchased a RR and held off when my insurance company provided an eye watering quote and included a number of clauses. As you say, perhaps an opportunity….
The principal fact to bear in mind is that car thieves are actually skillless. If you present them with "not what they are expecting," they can not function (because they only know what they've been taught). Fit systems/ features, however simple , change the electrical landscape. Car stays put, and you don't need to spend £500. Back during the car wars years, (so-called) there was some suggestion immobiliser and alarm installers were involved in car crime, I can't comment how true that was, but the fewer people who know your security, the more effective it is.
Live in the Home Counties and have a 2022 RR Sport diesel. Admiral renewal quote more than double last years. Went to compare the market and have got insurance for less than last years!! Lesson shop around!
Investigate the massive number of fires, not least the Luton and Liverpool multi story car parks with 3,000 cars destroyed and two car parks demolished. JLR have been aware of the number of fires for years. How much will this add to the cost of insurance?
Always used one on my cars, so easy to install and cheap. Years ago had a fuel cut off with a hidden switch on a Ford Escort and I came back to the car after shopping to be greeted by an undercover Police officer who had arrested someone. He started the car but it cut out and he could not restart it. There are so many ways to disable a car, better to to it yourself.
That was great thank you. But what I would like to know, why are they still being stolen if the price of them is dropping so much!! I would think they are worth stealing ???
Thanks, I have had 5 Range rovers/Discos over the years, loved them, but they became very expensive to live with, reliability and repairs were problems, and so I am out. JLR need to sort it, but people still buy them by the shed load. I keep my key fob, for a non JLR car, in a Faraday box now. A security post may also help.
I have a 2007 Range Rover vogue bought from new. Have kept the car as the cost to replace is prohibitive, also I’ve been told the newer models are not as reliable. I’ve had one problem in 16 years we’re I had to call a breakdown service. I’ve had some issues but nothing major. I’m delighted with my Range Rover 110,000 on the clock. Still runs like a dream. Road Tax high £695 but insurance £250. Thank you your video is very informative.
Had a ghoust fitted to my 5 series when i bought it, took it to the local dealer for some rectification works, i didnt tll them, they called me at the end of the day saying they have major issues starting/moving the car, i went sown and inouted the code and voila! The techs couldnt find it and the only reason they had problems was because they replaced the battery. i have recommended this product to all my family and friends as its superb!!
The neighbour opposite had his RRS SVR and his wife's Vogue SE stolen off the drive earlier on in the year, not because of the keyless entry, they had left the keys on the kitchen table by the French doors, easy pickings. Cars recovered about 30 miles apart a few hours later
Having suffered the theft of three Mercedes all on the same night my cars now have Ghost II and I now have peace of mind. They take seconds to use when you get in the car. Interesting that JLR are able to do a software update but unbelievable that cars so expensive were obviously sold without adequate software protection - will there be compensation claims in the future?
JLR not bothered as people or Insurance pay for a new one, so it is a win for JLR. As most are shipped out within 24 hours or broken up for parts. What has happened with the flood at Inchscape?
Wow, that is frightening value reduction, was thinking of one earlier in the year and part exchanging my Macan GTS, glad a didn’t now. You are right on prices, wanted to share an example. I sold a 992 targa GTS to a dealer with 6k miles having enjoyed it for the summer for £118k early October. At the time we buy any car we’re around the same price, but sold to Porsche dealer as easier, just got a quote and same car is now £83k….
@@Challengetheroad look forward to it, great insight. Will look into the ghost immobiliser for the Macan as agree feels a better option that the £260 a year for the tracker
Thanks for the video, new subscriber here, on the back of your information I checked my new X3, good to see the remote has motion sensing technology, stops transmitting after 2 minutes if not moved, shame the dealer forgot to tell me.
Thank you Dave, I have been looking at the X3 - BMW are really at the top of there game at the moment. There hybrid cars are superb to drive and the best regen on any Hybrid I have found.
I sold my Range Rover sport and bought an msrt aswell. Went to buy another RRS 2 weeks ago year after selling my old one and insurance had trebled, I’m keeping the van
Just taken delivery of a Ford Ranger Platinum. Keyless entry is disabled by default. Ford have plans to sort it but mine will remain disabled... Insurers need to crack down on manufacturers that play lose with security. If they all simply refused to insure these vehicles, the manufacturers would soon get it sorted...
They knew about this for years but have only got their backside into gear as thefts are now going through the roof which in turn is having a negative effect on the whole brand!
Back in the mid 1960's I was a police officer in Lancashire and was at a station that bordered the Manchester City area. Even back then it was not unusual for the 24 hours leading up to Christmas day to have close on one hundred vehicles stolen. Any week of the year Manchester City Police had scores of cars stolen usually for what we termed joy riding i.e. drive around in it until they got bored then dump it or steal a car to get home from the clubs.
One of my friends used to work at JLR for 40+ years was a senior manager there. Has two cars as part of his retirement package. On his car he has a steering lock disk cover. Plus he knows everything about these cars and how you should lock them. What should JLR do? I would get some of the guys and gals from Munro Associates to come over to the UK and show them how Tesla cover the cars in cameras and the computer management system which records everything and how JRL could join the future rather than remain in the past. I am told hardly any Tesla's are stolen - must be they have better security. This has been a problem for years for JLR and they are moving at a glacial pace to fix it.
Thanks for sharing info on the recall. I am struggling to get insured currently. Current cheapest quote has jumped massively Year 1 - 400 Year 2 - 1300 Year 3 - 2800 In a bad postcode area, even been pulled over by police to check I’m the driver and if I’ve done a software update.
Thanks Diana, hopefully Land Rover do something, they have there own insurance now but I have heard that is still quite highly priced. Maybe worth a try going direct to them for a quote.
I sold my 2017 RRS last month, having owned it from new, I live in the country side a long way away from any city, in 2021 my insurance was £220 per year, in 2023 it was £590, so before the used car prices completely collaspe, I sold it. Now a happy 2023 BMW M540d, with £330 insurance for the year 😀
My car cost me £700 five years ago. It can be left unattended and no one would want to steal it. What i saved in purchasing a Range Rover with falling off a cliff depreciation and eye watering running costs has been invested and doubled in value with no CGT.
There's a difference between keyless go and keyless entry. You can turn off keyless entry (you have to press the open/close botton), but once you're in its still keyless start, provided the key is in the car
I have a ghost immobiliser on my BMW. If you get dragged out of the car at a traffic stop (car jacked) with the engine running, the system allows the thief to drive no more than a few hundred yards before the engine cuts out. This allows a safe distance between you and the thief. Also if the car is parked outside your house and a thief tries to steal it the system will allow the car to start but the engine will cut out when a gear is selected (automatic gearbox.) You can change which four buttons in your car deactivate the ghost whenever you want for extra security and even disengage the system altogether when taking your car to the garage to have work done as this can be very annoying for the mechanic. Hope this helps. 🤘
So informative subscribed immediately I’ve seen the value of these recently come down significantly even with resellers who were asking huge premiums on these
Buy a faraday box for a tenner and stick your keys in there at night. I live in Oxfordshire, I’ve just insured my 2011 L322 for £630, admittedly the first broker I spoke to in my town wouldn’t insure a RR. I suppose one good thing is that when the stolen ones break down they won’t be able to fix them as they won’t be able to get the parts.
1) it is possible to get replacement keys (£150) which do not have keyless entry (didn't know it can be programmed, but I had to get one anyway); 2) I have purchased a small bag that blocks the signal and should prevent theft. My 2015 LR Discovery was (and still is) also difficult (and thus expensive) to insure. Thanks for the Ghost CAN immobiliser info, I did not know about this.
Just started watching this (in Australia) after seeing/hearing you on the Geoff Buys. Was thinking of buying a Range, but was not aware of this issue in the UK. Thank you for your channel and the excellent content.
Interesting some are saying that the keys were in a pouch. As I was going to say they should recall and replace the keyfobs, other manufacturers have motion sensors in the fob, the fob stops transmitting when stationary. However, there must be more to it, JLR wouldn't tank their business over a keyfob recall. Maybe use the ULEZ cameras for some good and track how they get the cars to the ports, as thefts of this volume, the cars won't be being chopped on UK shores. They are likely being shipped out the country.
Do a video on the spare parts issue on JLR debacle. land rover have no spares for them, waiting for a warranty claim to be resolved. They have no idea if or when parts will become available.
Just had the renewal quote come through for my wife's Velar D300 ..... SEVEN fold increase! Last year £261 .... new quote £1820! (Bank of Scotland). Managed to get a sensible price elsewhere fortunately.
@@jamesm90 Not strictly true. The guys who steal these cars don't have a key - in the normal sense of the word. I guess a mobile phone, programmed with the right signal, could replace the laptop that we are told they use.
Sounds like the security has gone backwards for the sake of "convenience" - I seem to remember my Peugeot 406 having an OEM keypad to start - it was tucked away behind a flap and it became instinct (like putting on a seatbelt) to use ... Ghost appears to be just that - Old Technology reintroduced ...
Car security peaked in the mid 2000s with all cars needing a key to start and having an alarm and immobiliser right now car security is regressing back to early 90s or even pre 90s level of ease to steal. In the late 2000s and early 2010s the only way to steal a car was to steal the keys through burgulary or mugging someone in the street.
There is only one way to describe this situation and it is simple! It’s unbelievable complacency for a prestigious name brand. I think if there are not careful they could possibly end up close shop. Who wants to buy a vehicle you can’t insure or lose a lot of money very quickly? Or you drive from point A- B and in between that journey it gets stolen. As my mate Clint Eastwood would say with the finger on the trigger, are you feeling lucky?
Great video, addressing many points. My point is - just how can it be so easy for the thieves to put the car - Range rover, Ford Cortina, whatever - in a green container and ship it from Tilbury to wherever? Something's v wrong somewhere isn't it ? Discuss
Ive had a ghost fitted on an rs6. Insurance company insisted on it because it wasnt being kept in garage. They insurer seemed to be confident with them. They are a small bit if kit so would tske someone time to find where in the car its hidden.
I bought my RR Evoque in early August and not living anywhere near London didn’t know re the hike in insurance. It’s a press button door open one not completely keyless and my keys are always kept inside a metal box at home. I live in (NI) where we do not have a high car theft crime rate ( mainly because caught stealing a car and you will end up in hospital) but since getting new insurance my rate has tripled. So yes it has a little to do with the number stolen but more to do with insurance companies jumping on the bandwagon to hike their rates… probably the cheapest way to get a Range Rover and spend less on household costs is fly to Africa where most of the stolen ones end up in, drive it home then get a large dinghy to bring it over the channel, dump your passport into the sea and claim asylum. Simples
My Velar R Dynamic insurance increased by 40% and I live way up North whilst it’s value has plummeted. I’m almost in negative equity thank goodness my PCP allows me to hand it back and walk away when the time comes.
Ive got a Ghost IMOBILISER and s7 tracker. Also i would recomend deactivate keyless start and get Farrell poch. They tried nicking it but couldn't...So yes to Ghost imobliser ,steering lock an pouch
I've had a CAN-PHANTOM fitted to mine, similar to a Ghost and manufactured in the UK. They are a brilliant piece of kit and I have faith in leaving my Range anywhere now.. £399.99 fitted in Midlands area aswell
How about something that is not electronic like a hatch in the floor or where ever run the gas line to that hatch and turn the valve off. What ever is done it must be a mechanical so lutoin. Just a thought
We ordered our new Macan GTS without keyless. Dealer said to us 70% of orders specifically dont want keyless anymore. Police are useless after we were attempted at getting broken in. Put a bollard in the driveway and no problems now.
A frriend of ours has an Evoque. She is a community nurse and often has to visit many patients in rural areas so its a handy car for her. This week her insurance has more than doubled in price.
It’s not just JLR with the problem my son had his Fiat pickup stolen in the same way, how do they steal them from car parks when the key is nowhere near the car, I drive an old Peugeot 308 these days no good for a lot of places in the UK but no problem here in Manchester and not desirable to nick
15 years ago I participated in a Design Council review with insurance companies and the Police about vehicle theft and export, where Black Range Rovers and RR Sports were the most stolen. Nothing seems to have changed.
I am just upgrading my Evoque to a Sport & 😢recently my friends Autobiography Range was stolen off their driveway & found at Dover getting shipped out 👀😭 it’s daunting as you mention the value has dropped immensely… with that said I am a Legal professional & 2yrs ago a case which is still being heard is a team of thieves who have stolen to order over 60 vehicles including: Audi, X6 & mainly Range Rovers predominately Sports … I am kind of freaking out as I only drive RR
I live in a rural village, we have zero crime occasional shop lifters for booze but we are all extremely fortunate & of course protective… & I have cameras everywhere - honestly my area is super secure… however in 2022 a squad of Land Rovers had been used by professionals to ram raid all rural village Co-Op stores & remove all cash point machines-> nobody identified or caught to this day we are all still baffled & properties with cameras could only see teams dressed head-to-toe in dark clothing no flesh showing & Balaclavas-> what stood out was each team had been driven in Land Rover Discoveries 🤔 WILD - it spooked us all to this day as around 5-8 villages in a radius all had a hit… I am intrigued to know exactly what’s going on over here in Britain with these RR thefts ~>>> worth millions as I believe the stats reports are much higher… Thank you for replying
So do the cars then think the key is still with the vehicle? Why don’t we go back to the days where ins companies wanted thatcham approved alarm to make ghost like systems be fitted.
Another option Cat S5s tracker with immobiliser. As per a ghost car just won’t start and hard to trace. Can also get OBD immobilisers. Annoyingly insurance brokers / companies don’t have a clue what they are so don’t give you discounts and now want to charge £90 per year for a tracker you have to install yourself.
If I ever bought a car with keyless entry, I would wire in an mobilising switch or two hidden under the dash. I did this when I had my Triumph Spitfire and my series Land Rover.
I had Ghost fitted to my RRSport last month immediately after I'd bought the car. I'm already very used to putting my sequence of button presses in. I didn't disclose for my insurance quote, but as I live in the sticks the cost didn't seem too unreasonable to me, especially as I was coming out of a Tesla model S🤣
@@Challengetheroad it's been... A bit strange tbh. The Tesla was a really interesting car with outstanding performance and no car I've owned has ever been better at overtaking. But..... It felt like the quality really just wasn't there for an expensive car. After I'd had it for about a month I discovered in the boot a screw which had obviously been inserted to stop a rattle.... That was kind of indicative. I wouldn't criticise it too much because it worked really well. Reasons for getting rid of it.... It basically moved up and down in value regularly, depending on what Musk or the government had to say, but overwhelmingly it was down. Insurance costs were ridiculous (yes I know RR not a great haven in that regard!) And also even with a 300-mile range and the Tesla network I always wondered what fun would await me when I arrived somewhere far away. I change cars regularly though but I'd never owned a RR before. I'm really liking it so far!!
I get that a security bar on to the steering wheel is a bit of a faff but anything is better than nothing if it can deter thieves. Enjoyed your interview with Geoff buys cars by the way 👍
With the Ghost, it's all down to how well it's fitted. I had one fitted to a previous car and let's just say I watched the guy fit it and it wouldn't take a genius to find it. The installer will always take the quickest and easiest option to fit as they are not going to spend hours taking your car apart.
We have a new model hilux invincible x which are also experiencing high theft rate. Dealers showed us how to turn the keyless off (far better than the jlr method as you don’t need to be in car) amazingly I know 4 other people with the same vehicle who weren’t shown how to turn off as pert of their handover and didn’t know it was possible
Riddle me this, why does this effect insurance premiums even if its just third party without theft cover? I've also fitted my car with all the security measures and its locked in my garage smfh day light fraud
Don’t over complicate your ghost alarm with to many different buttons as I did and sometimes it took ages for the ghost to accept the sequence , so I simplified it and it’s been fine since
