The quality of your work for what is a backyard setup is top notch. You have a great all round knowledge. Well done. I don't own a 4by nor am I looking to but I still watch all your content. Thanks for the real content not filled with expensive rigs that no one could ever afford, be that 20 Landruisers in your collection or $300K F-Trucks. I always trust a bloke working in hi sback shed wearing crocs any day! Cheers!😁
Just a tip with sikaflex, I work with the shit daily. Best thing to do to stop it sticking is glass cleaner, windex or home brand makes no difference. Once you’ve applied it and you’re happy with the general location and just want to smooth it out/clean it up, spray the absolute shit out of it with glass cleaner, and do the same with your glove. It will allow you to manipulate it mess free so long as there is always glass cleaner inbetween your glove and the sikaflex. It takes a bit of practice to get right but I promise you it works better than anything and you won’t regret learning how to do it.
Great work Tom! Im keen to see how the grill looks now with the new scoop. You are right about the best part of a 79 series. This build is going to be epic when your done! Hopefully you can find your way to a barra or ls to make this a real monster!
Hey roam, absolutely loving the build so far, the work you are able to do with the little time and equipment you have is very inspiring! A little tip with applying silicone is to get brake cleaner or soapy water and put that on your finger before shaping the silicone and it’ll give it a much nicer finish!
Get yourself some 3m cubatron discs they’re a bit more expensive but they save soooo much time grinding. I’m a boilermaker and they’re worth every cent. I’ve done a few 79 scoop chops both pre dpf and new on a few different cars including 105’s 80’s , GQ’s and a trio. and did it all pretty similar but instead of fitting the scoop inside the bonnet skin like you did I overlapped mine about 20mm.
Not a bad idea mate. If it means you gotta let more air into the engine you’ve done alright It’s always good to see someone coming up with new ideas good on ya hope it all goes well for you I like your idea, mate 👍🏻🇦🇺🍺🍺
No worries mate. It’s good to see what you’re going to turn this truck into mate. I like what you’ve done so far. You’ve given me some ideas for my GU patrol. she’s a 1998 model. can’t wait to see your next video mate to see what you have done. 👍🏻🇦🇺🍺🍺
Valiant effort, you've outdone me, I've always said I had the best bit of a cruiser attached to my Series 5 GU, I took the rear step from our old 76 wagon and turned it to a step on my GU as we're both short arses and needed a step up to our GU rear storage system. It gets a lot of comments, I take pride in saying I took the best of our 76 and added it to our Patrol, haha the shitty rear step twas the best bit of a 76. I'm yet to get a Colorado scope for our GU, same as you did previously. Seen plenty in vehicles parked up, temptation, nah - hell yeah. Currently in Darwin avoiding winter down home, try wreckers here for one.
@@RoamLyfe you wanna suck the air out, that scoop would work better backwards, you basically pressurise the engine bay like this and it slows air coming through the radiator, have a look at how the Arabs do there bonnets, there all designed to get hot air out mate, as far as looks go I recon it would actually look good backwards
