A prime flying location, but unfavorable for landing (for landing-noobs like me).. Regrettably, I failed to consider this during takeoff.
I don't aim to keep you in suspense for a video click - I'll state immediately - nothing catastrophic occurred. Just the battery sustained damage, and the O3 cable disconnected..
This serves as a classic example that errors are inherent to the learning process... perhaps this lesson could be of use to you..
UPDATE: One of the six battery cells is dead (Fullsend, 8000 mah, li-ion)

Thank you brother! Since that "incident", I decided to change the aspect ratio to 4:3. I hope the situation will be much better then. I can't try it right now, because the battery died... I'm waiting for a new one... you know that feeling when you're forced to the ground, right? :) Good luck up there bro!

Glad you got your quad back. My most frightening was one time when i was having problems landing on a shore full of trees. I could not see the ground and quad was over water. If i tried landing at the wrong spot the quad could hit something and fall into the water. The trick i have learned is to circle around, flying circles while slowly decending and then when low enough line up with the landing spot and flying in very slow again. Like an airplane coming in for landing, going very gentle until touch down. The main thing is to try not to panic, but it harder than one thinks when risking loosing an expensive quad. In your case it would indeed be hard as there are trees everywhere, risking hitting them or getting stuck in them. I think i would have paniced also but trying to fly in decreasingly smaller circles around the landing spot while decending at the same time is easier than straight down i think.

Friend, thank you very much for this suggestion, I will definitely practice that way of landing. I thought a lot about how to land on such a terrain with my landing experience, and the only solution I see at the moment is - to fly with an aspect ratio of 4:3. So far I have always flown with 16:9. Thanks again and good luck up there bro!

@@Wild__FPV Yeah, I used DJI V1 before O3 and landing was much easier in 4:3. Only downside is that the recorded video in the O3 also will be 4:3 i think. Not as nice for cinematic video. It can be streched but i dont think Gyroflow supports it? Was long time ago i tried mayby it does now.

When you're watching in 4:3, you're not losing anything in terms of width-literally nothing. All you get is extra height. Plus, the beauty of it is, you can easily tweak that clip to 16:9 when you're editing your video. And guess what? You get an added bonus: you can shift it up and down, adjusting the display just the way you like. Let's say you're shooting with a bit more sky in the frame during a flight-this method lets you switch the view from sky to ground seamlessly. Now, about GyroFlow, up until six months back, I was shooting with the GoPro11 in an aspect ratio of 8:7 (which is essentially 4:3.5), and guess what? No stability issues whatsoever. If anything, the stabilization was even better because there's more "stuff" for GyroFlow to work with.

So, I gave it a shot. I filmed a quick handheld clip (couldn't take to the skies due to a dodgy battery, waiting on a replacement). And let me tell you, it nails the stabilization for 4:3-maybe even better than 16:9! Oh, and yeah, you can totally switch it up to 16:9 in editing (yeah, I know I mentioned that already, haha)

@@Wild__FPV Thats great to hear! I might try that myself when i start flying again soon. Especially since i want to try and up the cruisingspeed so need to tilt the camera even more and landing will be a pita.

Yes, one cell is dead... as they say: Every school pays! :) And what I learned is - I will fly at 4:3 and not at 16:9 :))

I've been thinking about what you said these days, I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks for your suggestion. But first I'll give something else a chance - I changed the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3... maybe that helps... Good luck up there bro!
