Have not had the urge to comment on a video for a very long time. But having seen the locations and pictures you've been shooting for the last few video's and in particular this last one... It has truly inspired me. Thanks for beeing an inspiration. #phenomenal! Cheers
you have to admire the power of mother nature. When you combine that with tenacity of a great landscape photographer, you get that feeling of being there. Great images Thomas
Thomas sir you did it again. Those pictures are beautiful. You did those locations justice. I can appreciate how much of a struggle it was with the weather. You made it look sooooooo easy. Great job.
Great video Thomas , you made an awful weekend look amazing ! You got three great images but I like the last one best, typically the one when we were going back to the carpark . I enjoyed meeting you over the weekend and the great crack with the group.
Great video! I'm an NI resident and have to admit there are some fantastic landscapes on the north coast. I visited Kinbane Head myself in the spring and got some great shots.
I like that you incorporated the "don't let you tripod grow roots" tip that was discussed during the landscape photography workshop. It was a good tip that has stuck with me as well.
Top point on not getting too near to the sea in your video. I grew up in Porthleven, Cornwall, a place that has become popular for stormy sea photographs over the years. It is beautiful seeing such powerful waves and bubbling waters, but sadly a lot of people have died getting too near to the sea and being swept in. Amazing photos are one thing, but staying safe and aware of what is happening around you (and how quick it changes) is more important!
Great to meet you and Charlotte in the morning and nice, honest, interesting and inspiring lecture in Belfast. A very challenging part of NI coastline, especially at this time of year and with the weather you got. Still you turned out some great shots and I hope you enjoy the rest of your trek around our particular beautiful part of the world, maybe with some better weather before you head home. Nice also to see you getting over here and good work to Richard for organising it.
Can't begin to say how happy I was to see this video. I visited a friend there about 12 years ago and was completely drawn to this area, visiting both Dunluce and Kinbane Castles a few times while there, taking VERY amateur pictures. Lol... Can't wait to return so I can put some of what you've taught me to good use! Thanks again for posting
Always get excited when you post a new video and this is no exception. Amazing shots despite the mad weather Thomas! Personally, I would’ve never taken out and set up my gear in that weather for fear of damaging or losing it. But it’s really nice to see what is possible if we are willing to step out of our comfort zone so long as we are being safe and smart about it. Keep up the good work and keep inspiring! :)
The Dunluce Castle shots are brilliant!! Didn't know you were in Belfast. I was over to visit my daughter and family, flying back to Virginia on Tuesday. Would have loved to have had a chance to meet you. All my castle shots are from the top, several years ago. Yours are simply breath taking, mine, not so much!!! Keep up the stellar work, already planning our trip back for next fall. Love Ireland and Scotland, and its people. Thanks again, your reminder that rain and storms have much to be appreciated and opportunities to be had. Best, Bob
Thomas, I have always loved your images and enjoy watching you. Something about that last image the long silent cliff and sky with the sea in the foreground... dammit you brought me to tears with that one for some reason...poetry, simply lovely !!!
The black rocks are among the oldest on the planet. The second fault line that runs through the isle of Arran which also includes Ballycastle and all the way upto the top part of Canada are the oldest rocks. You will find some amazing photography opportunities around northern and western Ireland as well as the west coast of Scotland such as the isle of Arran and the islands. The weather comes with the rugged terrain and gives it's own unique atmosphere. Lovely moody image that you took...enjoying the videos and enjoying your experiences and expertise
Wow Tom, that Irish coast is amazing. Quite scarily wild 😜 but really stunning. Love those black rocks on the beach & the majestic castle in the background. Fabulous moody conditions for us to view ( not as much fun when you're getting soaked though ! ) And what an incredible sight once the storm hit the coastline, not very easy at all to photograph, nightmare. Hope that guy's kit is ok? And you got incredible images in such challenging conditions😚
Well done Thomas great video. The images capture the true feeling of mother natures fury, I just love images of light pouring through dark tumbling clouds rolling across the land/seascape.
As a direct result of your videos, I've taken a leap and booked 4 weeks up in the Shetland Islands next year as part of a work-cation. As a novice photographer, it's a terrifying leap to commit to something with so little gear and experience, but I'm just so pumped to get out there and give it a go. Just me, my XT10, a few choice lenses and a sub-arctic archipelago. Sounds perfect to me! Thanks for all the amazing videos Mr Heaton; they are truly inspiring.
I must say, after thoroughly enjoying your presentation on Saturday morning, and knowing the condition you guys were heading off in to afterwards (!) I was very much looking forward to seeing how you visioned and captured the Causeway Coast. You certainly got a baptism of storm, but I love the images you got. You've captured the essence of what it's like up there so often! Next time you're over, you'll have to head up the Mournes. Some fabulous scenery there too!
I think your shot at 9:44 might be one of my all favorites of yours. The atmosphere of that shot is incredible and then you managed to catch that lone bird completely and totally isolated out there. Amazing!
Another outstanding video and the shots were incredible! On another note I received my calendar yesterday and it is beautifully made and I look forward to looking at those images all next year! Thanks for that!
Thanks so much for this video Thomas. I'm off to the Dorset coast in 2 weeks time for 5 days so this "shooting in bad weather" video has given me great inspiration-always expect the worst!
Glad to see you made it over Thomas, definitely Autumn when the weather is OK is an amazing time to shoot here, maybe youll have better luck next time.
Hi Thomas love your photography, rough seas windy weather cant get any better than that except for the pub at the end of the day. Regardless of the weather within safety limits, there is always a picture to take if people just take the time to stand back and look and study the scene but safety 1st. Good luck with your next vid.
