Join me at the beautiful and dramatic Wastwater for a day's Landscape Photography in the Lake District shooting sunrise and sunset. www.lensdistrict.com #lakedistrict #landscapephotography #photography #wastwater
Great video, very well made and the images you captured were stunning. I don’t think I’ve ever seen light like the light you get in the lakes, sounds silly cause mountains are mountains but the greens and orange tones are just something else!!!
Welcome buddy, cracking first video can't wait to see where the channel goes.just starting to get out photographing again myself, not been to the lakes for years hoping to get up there next year(all being well).😀📸📸
Just stumbled across your channel stu, great content nice to have a local accent and knowledge, keep up the good work looking forward to future videos.
I echo the other comments and it’s refreshing to see a top notch photographer who now vlogs, your channel already has an air of class to it, keep up the great content 👍🏼
Well done fella and welcome to the YT community buddy👍🏻 all subbed up mate, I know I’m a bit late to your YT journey but I’m here now lol lovey shots and a good edit
Well done Stuart, good to see your RU-vid debut is off to a great start, you had a great morning there. Hope you had a polite word with that motorhome driver.
@@StuartMcGlennon Good lad. I'm sure he'd get a fine if the Police had, say some video footage of his numberplate.... Good first video mate. Look forward to seeing how you go. Take care.
Very enjoyable and engaging so I’m going to be tuning in again, no doubt. We might end up debating the relative merits of The Lakes vs Snowdonia, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy your stuff 😊👍🏻
Welcome Stu to the world of YT. A good introduction with a nice selection of drone footage shot at the right times of day. I enjoyed the narrative about the place. A place I will no doubt be visiting lots in the very near future. Nice work 👍👍
Enjoyed that Stuart .. must admit I've hardly explored any of the lake district but I think one of the reasons is (outside of pandemic) how heavy-handed the park police can be with campers .. then it made me chuckle when you pointed out the one parked up (which of course during these times should not be) .. A nice mixture of b-roll and to the camera along ... that balance can be a difficult one to achieve I as feel sometimes I'm watching a b-roll vlog with some ... looking forward to seeing more of the lakes in future episodes ...
Cheers mate yep the b-roll is the bit I’ll need to keep learning (as I will all of it) as like you it was the one thing that irked me with so many vlogs, endless clips of pointless stuff which adds nothing. It’s undoubtedly integral to making the thing flow it just needs to be relevant. Yeah the campervan was funny after I’d filmed I did some more drone stuff and the guy came out and asked me to keep it down 😂 my reaction could best be described as ‘measured and focused anger’ lol
@@StuartMcGlennon hahaha classic .... good to get the drone up at times perhaps when you are not vlogging as well ... get some clips in the bank so to speak as they can come in useful when you wished you had some but were too busy making images ....
@@StuartMcGlennon yeah same goes with regular b-roll .. the more you can have in the can the better, although it can be difficult to match the look of the day etc ....
Lovely first video Stuart. I myself am fairly new to RU-vid and it can be slightly challenging talking to a camera but you seem to be doing pretty good. Your doing much better than me so far anyway. Keep up the good work mate and I look forward to your next vid.
Stuart McGlennon Yeah I totally agree mate, videography is a challenge but you will pick it up I'm sure. You must be doing something right, you have 1 video and already have a good following, I have 5 videos now and hardly any hahahaha, oh well. I enjoy it though, I just wanted to help people and show them that England is a beautiful place. Hopefully inspire people and offer some advise. Can't wait for this lockdown to be over so I can get back to the lakes, your video made me wanna jump in the car and visit but as you said it's not the time.
I’m not even two minutes in and I’m impressed, watching on the 4K Tv and the video and images shown are unbelievably crisp. WOW, looking forward to seeing what else you put out!
Best choice for first location! Can’t wait to share some of your higher level walks. Good job calling out the naughty campers. Amazing drone work. More please 😊
@@StuartMcGlennon is it getting busier down there Stuart? I think up here folk are still being good at the social distancing thing, I'll hopefully get over to Torridon again very soon when the weather gets a bit better I think. If that ever happens just now 😂
It’s eased off a touch from that manic weekend when restrictions were eased, weather will be playing a part in that a bit as well as the rain has arrived
I enjoyed that immensely Stuart, having had numerous dawn shots over the years at Wastwater. Such an evocative place. Looking forward to your next video 😊
A very impressive entry into the world of YT Stuart. Nicely edited and some lovely drone work. You come across well in front of camera which with the quality of your images, I'm sure will make this a successful channel for you. Looking forward to more
Really enjoyed your 1st vlog Stuart, engaging and a nice natural pace. Fabulous location to start off with, looking forward to seeing the lakes whilst we can't travel there.
Really enjoyed that mate, one of my favourite places to shoot as well. Video is really well put together, looking forward to the next instalments seeing as I can't get up there at the moment.
Great start Stuart, loved the location, beautiful drone footage, shoe-ware and Sean Connery impression. Think I spotted my red jacket in one of the photos too :)
Nice video Stuart, you've got some fine scenery to work with there. As far as 'B' roll is concerned...shoot the s**t out of it. You may leave alot of footage on the office floor, but it can be handy for later vids.
Cheers Graeme yeah suspect you’re right with b-roll I’m just conscious it doesn’t impinge on the photography too much as I’m very much a photographer first. Thanks for watching 👍
I own a few pairs of Crocs and my daughter refuses to be seen with me if I where them outside of the house, she is 19, so quite fashion conscious 😂. Great vlog, looking forward to next instalment 👍
Cheers Andy yeah I they’re w good joke in this house I don’t actually go anywhere in them but they’re handy for standing in water occasion if nothing else! Thanks for watching
Hi Stuart. Great stuff. One of my favourite locations in the Lakes, taken a few "snaps" in the past, mainly black and white. With the current covid climate I have been wary of visiting my local beauty spots. I live in St Bees which you will know well. I am trying to find a clear description of what is acceptable for local travelling to exercise. Not easy so far. I look forward to popping in your shop post lockdown. Cheers Tom !
Thanks Tom, if you’re looking for clear guidance I don’t think you’ll find one lol! Personally if it’s outside of a 20/30min drive it’s probably not local though people in the end will make their own minds up. I’ll be continuing to shoot as ultimately it’s my job though it’ll be quite sparing and locally as much as possible.
Very impressive Stuart. If that’s your first RU-vid effort then folk are in for a treat over the coming months and years. Also, So good to see how Wastwater is looking this summer.
Really enjoyed your vlog, fantastic intro and some great images. Will be looking forward to seeing some lake district locations. Good luck mate 👍 Also what drone you using, footage looks really good.
Thanks for watching Chris much appreciated - the drone is the new Mavic Air 2, it’s my first drone so just getting my bearings with it. I was going to get the mavic pro 2 but considering I mainly need video it probably would have been overkill
Good start mate. It certainly helps when you actually admire the photographer making the blogs, as opposed to some tin-pot tog waffling on about mediocre shots!
It was all going so well until the crocs!! How are you finding combining the photogaphy with the vlogging? Good luck with the channel, I'm sure you'll do very well :-)
Thanks Gary as expected it’s very tricky - biggest issue which I mention in the 2nd one I’m finding is b-roll and avoiding filming stuff that isn’t relevant, but making sure there’s enough of it to tie it together. All good learning though thanks for watching
Interesting first vlog, but I have a few pointers to perhaps consider.... A little too pessimistic at times, focussing on negativity. The opening sequence you discussed what was wrong, rather than all the endless possibilities of what you hoped for and the excitement felt at the beginning of a beautiful day. You took an incredible shot, but then where was the "wow" in your voice? Perhaps try expressing in your tone what we all feel in that moment. A good clear voice, lots of clarity, but then your understandable nervousness came through in sighing (breathing out) about your challenges. If you had expressed a more upbeat manner in the intro we could then have enjoyed you succeeding in overcoming adversity and empathised better. A beautiful scene, still winds, great skies, stunning isolation.... wow wow wow! Yet the sequence focused on what was not right? Looking forward to watching more and seeing how your style develops!
Thanks for watching Paul, on a couple of your points, sorry bits came across a little pessimistic, I’m perhaps trying to bring some realism to what was for the most part a fairly average scene until the light came out, I’ve seen far too much sugar coating of bland conditions in vlogs when I’ve stood in those same conditions 1000’s of times knowing they’re completely different to what’s being presented. I hope when conditions changed I came across more enthusiastic! I’m not nervous as such in those moments but rather trying to formulate my thoughts without it being too scripted, all learning I guess! Cheers for watching and thanks for your feedback 👍
Thanks Lloyd cheers for watching - yeah ‘what’s in the bag’ and such like aren’t really my thing I’ve little interest in gear beyond it doing the job I require it to.
