The GFX is awesome. I watch Adam Gibbs videos and he shoots a lot of woodland images with a GFX and I’m super impressed with the quality and detail from that camera system. Camera envy for sure. Welcome back to RU-vid Steve!
Welcome to Cali Steve! JT is one of my most favorite places on Earth. It's gorgeous! Once I walked for 6 days from LA to JT, and it has a special place in my heart! Hope you enjoyed it!
Well you took me by surprise! I looked for another Yellow Chair info video to listen to while I cooked my dinner. ( A medium rare NY strip steak (1/3 of it, I always cut them into three pieces for the freezer) seasoned with Montreal Steak Seasoning (home made recipe) and seared with butter, sliced garlic and rosemary. Zucchini noodles with fresh dill, and there were some some A-1 seasoned sauteed mushrooms. ) Instead I was treated to a SUPER video in Joshua Tree. I had to go back and watch it again while I wasn't in the kitchen so as not to miss anything!! Did anyone else see a lizard face in the center right of that rock formation?? This was a super video! Thanks for sharing.
Bummer that you didn't get your shot but the video was super fun. The choice of music was a bit of a surprise but fit so well with the fast video of you and your camera lurking around the rocks. Thanks a bunch.
Enjoyed this. Joshua Tree is a favorite place for me. I grew up spending weekends there, although it was just a National Monument then. Great place for photography.
Steve, excellent channel. Keep up the great work. As you were noodling over ideas for composition for that boulder rock, wonder if you place some sort of a reflective surface or a fill flash behind it and with the hills formation in the backdrop, will that create interesting separation effects to make the boulder stand out. Just an idea. Love your work.
What a super spot that it is! Great images and sky colors turned out to be very subtle, yet beautiful! I do hope we get to hear about how it all went in Africa!
Hey Steve! Cool video... I grew up near there and my Dad and I would go there for the day and hike around on the boulders when I was like 10 years old! Have you stopped by Pioneer Town near JTNP? We would stop there to and go bowling when there was a bowling alley there, it was an old western type ghost town. Did also stop and check on the Burrowing Owls? Sayin' hey.... Greg
Just got back from a few days in JTNP. Like you, I absolutely love roaming around in the park. Had a lot of fun with my "76 Nikon F2, some Ilford BW film and a couple of red and yellow filters that haven't seen the light of day in millennia. Good times...
Great to see you "work" the area for shots. So many just stand there for the hero shot and don't bother with the rest of the scene. Also, saw that scraggly tree early in the video and immediately thought it would somehow make a good silhouette shot. You got it! Keep those vids come'n.
The GFX! You have any plans to use that for wildlife as well Steve? Just made me wonder, as it seems more oriented towards landscapes, in regards to nature photography :D
Hey Steve, thanks for the Vlogoptical illusions! I love me some J-tree action! Did you happen to make it to some of the trippy cool places near Joshua Tree like Bombay Beach, Salton Sea, Salvation Mountain, East Jesus, Slab City? Other worthwhile places in the vicinity: The Domelands in Anza-Borrego State Park! I'm a native San Diegan so these have always been my Go-to places for landscape photography... So I will be departing Scottsdale Az very soon and will be lurking in the Yellowstone / Tetons and beyond areas this Summer May 1st thru Oct 1st in my Breaking Bad motorhome!!! If you see me juggling all my Sony gear stop and say hello!
Nice vid! You got some cool pastel images. I see a number if people have commented on your hat. It looks very useful. Can you tell us what it is? Thanks.
STEVE-- Is a GFX a medium format? In 3 days I will be getting a new Z50, what your thoughts on a Z50!! By the way I sure enjoy your sense of Humor- Fun video! Randy B.
Hey Steve! Great vlog as usual, loved it! I’m wondering being alone in such a remote area, you ever worry about critters like snakes, spiders or even scorpions? Not trying to freak you out or anything, just wondering? 😁
