The Ripper's a pretty sick board. I set mine up with 10" Cal2's and orange Otang Stims. Very comfy ride.

I think Comet Cruiser is still superior to the Ripper, am I right? Really liked the video.. 5:15 is kind of scary though. Keep on going, Bro! I really am looking forward to your future reviews. Stay Safe

Comet Cruiser is suprerior to pretty much any cruiser. It comes with aftermarket parts pre-installed. Bushings, Bearings, Wedges. Hard to compete with that! Glad you liked the video!

I have a the same board, and I have trucks for both set ups. The board is super carvy with the 135 mm trucks with 63 mm fatty hawgs. Super fun.

i had ordered this one with the 130mm trucks, but it came in with the same set up as shown in the video. love it. yesterday, i git the dipper with 130 mm trucks with the fatty hawgs. man, such a fun board to ride. i like the ripper, but i really prefer my dipper setup. so far i have a thugboat and an atv too, will get the dinghy soon. after that im not buying boards for a long time. I ride with my daughter and my girlfriend.

@@thebendu33 Oh ya for sure. I got my ripper for the kicktail, and it's super cool they have those two options. I might get a dipper or a rally cat next when I'm able to get out and do more riding, but I wanna get better at slides first.

This is the setup with 155 mm trucks with EZ Hawgs, right? I ride the OG setup with 130 mm trucks and Fatty Hawgs, and I love how it cruises. Interested to hear what you think about the two, just 'cause the details you get into are fun. As always, love watching your videos! Happy New Year!
@downhill254skate
@downhill254skate 2 года назад
it's the one, I genuinely think I'd prefer the 130mm version more, but I sadly don't have any 130mm bears. i do think I can do one or two things to these trucks to make them feel good
@konan8353
@konan8353 2 года назад
It's such a shame because skinny tkp trucks are the best, I used to use 130s but I moved to 105mms, Bear & Paris, so much more fun. And having thicker and taller wheels makes a huge difference. Fatty hawgs still lose traction pretty easy, if you're just cruising slowly though they grip very well
@ESRohner
@ESRohner 2 года назад
@@konan8353 Can your throw bigger wheels onto skinnier trucks with less chance of wheelbite? If so, could be fun to get some 105s with some 70 mm wheels. 😁 Overall though, I've been fine with the 130s. I have enough leverage to slide a little and enough stability to "bomb" chill hills. But I'd like to mess with some wedged risers to emulate the Comet Cruiser setup, just to see how that feels.
@konan8353
@konan8353 2 года назад
@@ESRohner remember with wedges it changes both the ride height & leverage, so you need to compensate with harder /softer bushings, and finding them for tkp trucks is hard. But yeah you can use 105mm trucks with 70mm wheels, that's my exact setup atm, I use the loaded coyote with Kevos that are worn to 69mm. The sweet spot for me would be 65mm ish so maybe aim for that, just make sure the wheels are relatively thick because it's more fun + comfortable for cruising and bombing imo
@ESRohner
@ESRohner 2 года назад
@@konan8353 Is that 105 mm trucks, 70 mm wheels with no risers? The Ripper came with 130 mm trucks, 63 mm wheels, and ¼ in risers. When I change to wedged, I'll try to find some bushings that fit and experiment with that next. Thanks for the tips!
@dannybuoyuk

Try wedging it like the Comet Cruiser perhaps? Always wondered about the Ripper as an alternative to that board.

You have a lot of Landyachtz boards do none of them have 130mm Polar Bear tkp trucks? If they do you could just switch trucks out. You must have some Fatty Hawgz. I recently bought a Landyachtz Ripper a few weeks ago, at a store. It came with the 130 setup. Compared to you, I’m just a beginner when it comes to riding a board. Before I bought it I hadn’t been on skateboard for 20yrs since I was kid. Because of that, it makes this board kind of special to me. I was thinking about putting a skid plate on the tail just to make it last longer, have any recommendations? Sorry for the long comment I’m looking forward to your further reviews and assessments of the Ripper🤙🏼. In the future I might buy the 155’s with Ez Hawgz just to see the difference.
@downhill254skate
@downhill254skate 2 года назад
I don't have any 130mm versions, it's unfortunate! I would stick to the 130mm ones and not really swithc it out. Maybe flip the roadside washer to help it turn better (it works great). For the skid plate, i think Powell makes some good ones, def worth investing in. But also, you may not use the kicktial enough to justify one?
@Ac_a
@Ac_a 2 года назад
@@downhill254skate The board I learned to ride on was my brother’s old board from the 80’s. It had plastic rails on the sides and a smaller one on the kicktail. The only ways I knew how to stop 🛑 a board were to slam the kicktail down and ride it out, or hop off completely. Only recently have I heard of and learned to foot🦶🏼brake.😝🤣 If I put a tail guard/skid plate on my Ripper. I’ll actually use it. Which should open a lot more possibilities to work with. I’ve held off doing much with the kt because I didn’t want to wreck my shiny,glowing 🌟🤩😎, new longboard. 🛹 Do slide gloves 🧤 protect your wrists as well as wrist guards? My wrist guards are probably the only reason mine aren’t broken right now. They’re real life savers. 🤲🙏
@downhill254skate
@downhill254skate 2 года назад
@@Ac_a I've always found footbraking to be more reliable. I highly recommend you learn it. Better to have both in your arsenal hehe I've only ever used slide gloves and they've protected me at every speed. Haven't gotten any injuries on my palms in a VERY long time

YT really likes auto-deleting my comments😕. Sorry DH if this gets annoying. YT send me emails when somebody replies to me. If its the same for you, you can check your inbox 📥 for the full version. I put my Ripper on a digital kitchen scale with a 5kg/11lb limit to get a accurate weighing. Came out to 3.207kg / 7lb 1.1 oz. If you still have a Comet Cruiser could you weigh it for comparison? Hope this doesn’t get auto-deleted like the last two times.
@downhill254skate

@Ac_a
@Ac_a 2 года назад
@@downhill254skate You don’t have to weigh it, I won’t push it. This is a modified part of my og post. I thought I would just put it here. “If you have a bathroom scale you can write down how much you weigh with the board and subtract what you weigh without it. That’s what I did when I first got my LY Ripper. Turned out pretty accurate the difference between scales turned out to be just 50g. Any scale would work, maybe even one meant to weigh vegetables 🍠🍅🥕🌽🧅🧄🫑. Both of mine were digital, but it doesn’t have to be.”

Flip the roaside washer, makes the trucks turn muuuuch better. If you can, get some narrow RKPs for it - worth the investment
