I love this board, it made me realize how fun longboarding really is. Its stable, fast and fun.

@666azim this board is good for cruising around. It's pretty low already for easy pushing too. If you prefer something super low then check the Switchblade.

If you're a beginner that wants to focus in on hills and slides, then yes. I usually recommend something more "all around" if you're just starting out so you can try out different styles. Look at the 9two5 (great at slides and hills too) as an alternative that's a little better on carves.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
dang it. My fingers must have been swollen from an African bee sting. Please accept my apologies. I'll see if we can get that in the mix, but here's a brief rundown on the differences from the full version: shorter wheelbase will give you quicker response and a shorter turning radius, but won't be as stable on hills. Also not quite as solid on slides due to its smaller size. You do get some better cruising and carving though.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
Trucks are made from a few compoenets, the main ones being the base plate (part that attaches to your board) and the hangar (connects to base plate by king pin, has the axle you put the wheels on). On some trucks, like the Bear Grizzly 852's you can "flip" the hangar (take it off, spin it around, and rettach) to get a bit more stability. Use stiffer bushings also, and you'll be pretty stable
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
@FIAlex93 thanks for your comment. However, on this ride I don't think you'll see any value on a thin piece of material. If you're using it as a drop through the only thing you'll do is save a couple scratches on the top of the deck (assuming you're using super thin ones. The 1/8" ones will mess up your ride, don't use those with drop through). If you're top mounting the deck you'll lose a bit of energy transfer when going into slides as well as making it ride higher.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
It's definitely not going to be as low as the Switch. Like you said, the Switchblade doesn't have that big drop that the Switch has, but you would have the option to change between top and drop (sidenote: might have to copyright that) depending on what you're riding. A top mounted Blade would still be relatively easy to push around though.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
it's pretty close to the Switch as far as "useable foot area" (gotta remember that term, thanks!). I don't think it will be too bad, but it might be a bit large for your height and stance. At 6'2 my feet are just about under my shoulders and it feels ok, so at 5'6 your feet may land a bit wide of your shoulders. If that feels ok to you then it should be fine.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
size 12 at 145? Sounds like you got some growing to do still. Gotta fill in those snow ski's you call shoes. The full version Switchblade will do well, but you should consider the 9two5 and the Wolfshark. They'll hit carves a bit better while still slaying hills. The 9two5 has similar specs to the Switchblade, and the Wolfshark is a bit smaller if you prefer faster response.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
Here's where some personal preference is gonna come into play. If you like a big W concave go with the Drop Speed. The Switchblade has big concaves and tubs for supreme lockage, but some people find it a bit much. For a freeride and slide focus you may wanna check the 9two5 out also. Either way is shredtastic, have some fun.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
K, my suggestion is this. If you are going to be hitting some big hills or long commutes, go with the Switchblade. It's super low which will help keep it stable on the big stuff, and a comfortable pusher for longer rides. If you don't need a super low rider, and want to do more carving than hills, check out the Switch. Both do well at slides and freeride.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
no worries brochacho, we got the goods to get you hooked up. The Switchblade will slay those hills, but you may want to check out the 9two5 also. That'll kill some slides and hills with a bit more comfy foot platform. If you looking for something to do hills, slides, plus some tricks like shuvs the Original Freeride deck aint too shabby, maybe the Tan Tien Flex 1 also.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
@SouthJerseyLongboard If you're doing mostly slides/freeride with some minor downhill I'd actually recommend the 9two5. I think it's a bit better for cruising around (more comfortable foot platform) and will still kill it for slides and such. Switchblade is still a solid choice, but its designed for downhill and freeride mostly.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
@MichaelNanamchi I'm assuming we are talking about the kingpin/bushing tightness. You want to find the sweet spot where you can carve easily and with solid control, but don't get wobbly if it gets fast. If you're primarily going slow you can loosen them up and get super carvy, and if you plan on doing hills all day you can tighten them up to stay stable.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 13 лет назад
@theezanator the concave is pretty large on this board. The concave does help you lock your feet in for slides and such, but it may take some getting used to. Concave is definitely a personal preference, but I like higher concaves to stay locked in. See if you can check out your friend's board to give it a try, you may like it.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 13 лет назад
@LukeSurfs97 I think you're talking about the drop through slot, but if I'm wrong just let me know. The drop through will put you a bit closer to the ground so you don't lean over as far. If you're just going down the street it won't make a big deal, but if you're traveling over a few miles you'll notice.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
very little flex, even at 233. It won't flex like a Loaded board (those are designed with a good amount of flex in them), and you shouldn't be getting any bite on the Zombie Hawgs it comes with. Larger wheels (75mm plus) with wide contact patches may get some bite if you are leaning over really far.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
@XxBIGHEADGUYxX definitely will cruise and do some slides/freeride. The Bear Grizzlys it comes with in the complete package are pretty solid, I also like Paris 180's. For wheels check out Zombie Hawgs, or Orangatang Baluts or Stimulus (duro depends on particular styles).
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 13 лет назад
@Jonasnitro thanks for you comment. We have both the boards (you can even see the Switch in the background of this shot) and the Switchblade is definitely lower. This is mainly due to the drop through slot while the Switch is top mounted.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
a 36" model will probably work better. Another approach is to try out a deck that doesn't have big pockets. You'll have more options for where to stand and shred. check out the Landyatchz 9two5 and Drop Carve, maybe even the Loaded Dervish Sama.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
Well, you could try out the 76mm Zombie Hawgs. They've got a small contact patch of 33mm (23mm smaller than In Heats) and that could help avoid some bite. Otherwise you could check out the Switch as it's top mounted and has a bit more clearance.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
all boards are designed to fit a certain size wheel, and on this board anything over 72mm is gonna cut it close. You could try a wheel with a smaller contact patch, but even that might not work. What size wheel do you want to put on it?
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
There's gonna be as many different opinions as riders, and that's why there's so many. Personally I'm a bit partial to the 9two5 - rocker concave feels good, stiff and decently responsive at its size, and those gas pedals are sick for my big feet.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
don't do anything stupid with it. That's how it usually happens anyway. Make sure you use washers on the screws, it'll help to reduce pressure a bit. Also, little shock pads will help too. And don't let cars run over it, that might mess it up.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
if you were going to top mount it, I'd say go ahead and get the Switch. As the Switchblade is meant for big hills and slides I'd say drop through is the better choice. If you want something with a bit more carve check out the Switch.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
Check out the Landyatchz Drop Carve. It'll be easy to push and cruise but can also get some slides and hills. The Loade Fattail is sick for commuting also, and can hit some slides and smaller hills.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
Both are really good trucks. For carving around and some slides I like Paris trucks. If you find yourself blessed with some hills you may want to check out the Bears since you can flip the hangar.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
@RandomVideosBCC if you top mount the Switchblade deck, maybe. We have both at our shop and the Switchblade is very much lower due to a drop through truck slot, and a dropped foot platform.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
I'd say 70mm is a good sweet spot. You can go higher but you may get some bite depending on your truck/wheel combo. Most of them are ok, but check it out before you ride on it.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
@slipknotssupermaggot yessir. It's super low so pushing is mad easy. W concaves have never really annoyed me, they usually don't extend all the way to where my foot stays for pushing.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
might be a bit close but I think you'll be alright. If you really crank it over you might (might) get some bite though. With the 70mm 4Pres you'll definitely be ok.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
it's a very stiff board for slides and hills, so it should be able to handle up to 275 or so. There's not really a suggested weight posted, but I think you'll be ok on it.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
I'll throw a curveball and say the Switchblade 36. It'll get you set for slides, and it's lower to the ground than the Wolfshark for easier pushing.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
@Qeilahhable both are good trucks. If you're doing some hills check out the Bears. The hangar can flip into a slightly more stable setup for faster runs.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
@ConcreteElevators you'll be fine but I'd suggest some between the screws and the deck. It'll help to spread out the force and reduce stress cracks

Yessir. Big concaves will help to lock in those snow skis you call feet. Now get to skating and avoid stepping on small woodland creatures.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 13 лет назад
@skatelover37 it normally comes with the trucks dropped through. You'll have to really lean hard to get it to bite, so i'd say probably not

im 5'5'', 26yrs old. I have the time machine model but find that i have to spread my legs too far to lock into the pockets on the board. Do you think this 36" model will work? I feel it will, but then again I feel it might be too small being I'm a regular style skater, n throwing my back foot on the board after fast pushing and what not...
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
most people will need the full version. If you're a smaller dude or lady, the 36 may be better for you and your stance.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
no worries, keep the questions rolling if you got them. The main question is what type of riding are you going to be doing?
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
the 76mm wheels may get some bite. You'll still have a good range of turning, but super sharp stuff may touch the deck.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
Well, if you don't mind sharing, what's your weight and height? It'll help determine what size board you should ride.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
might be a little big and catch the wheel well on hard turns. Maybe check the 4Presidents as they're a similar shape.
@bcsurfandsportvideos
@bcsurfandsportvideos 12 лет назад
@Bananaboardfilms pretty much the same as far as wheelbite goes. You should be ok except for some extreme leaning.

downhill and just getting me from point A to point B pretty easily..... it would be nice to get something that was relatively easy to push cuz i live in maryland and its incredibly hilly which is a downhill riders paradise.... also it would be nice to have the options of free ride in case i want to learn something new so now that u know that what do you thnk is the better boards out of those 2

@skatelover37 i havnt had that problem, mines drop throw and ive had it 2-3 months, awsome ride, sweet for down hill, but since it curves up on the sides,(like the back of a regular skateboard) , moveing your feet once youve started bombing gets real jerky and can give you wobbles. but you shouldnt move your feet much when you go over 25-30. and if you have small feet, the problem is gone. (i wear 10 and a half and its not too bad.

Hey you were saying you can flip the trucks to make it more stable for hills. What does that mean? I'm confused as to how you do that. I'm a bigger rider, 6ft 4" tall and around 270lbs so I wan't the board to be extra stable for me going down hills. I really like this board.
@bcsurfandsportvideos

@runnerman54321 you'll be fine on downhill slides as there's not much flex with this deck.
